2:28 I agree with Jake for the X5M because it’s 40% more practical and with that classic split tail gate.
I recently got to drive the 2024 X5 50e, and even that thing is wicked quick! The hybrid drivetrain helps it just jump off the line really well. And even from 100-200 it doesn't seem to really fall off at all. This facelift was a big upgrade over the 2022 X5 45e!

Cars are WAY too expensive these days. I completely gave this up as a hobbie. Every car I moderately desire is over $100,000 CAD before taxes. Just nonsense.
could try used cars if ur not already, bmws seem to depreciate hard, so you could prob get a car u want for relatively cheap. like u said cars r too expensive these days, and new just isn’t feasible

About the removal up basic access settings from the IP, insane ! They also removed the awesome programmable buttons which would be huge here.

Same reasons we opted for the 2023 x3 M40i vrs waiting for "new, improved iDrive"; movie screen dash and absence of functional buttons.

I’d take this over a Cayenne GTS or Turbo. Atleast $40,000 cheaper when comparably equipped, pretty much the same power, looks better from the exterior IMO, and also still has pretty much the same build quality. Dream garage of mine is a 911 Turbo S Cabriolet with an X5 M Competition.. also, this is a MUCH better buy than the XM.

I’d tend to agree, you can’t beat it value wise.
The 4.0t in the GTS/Turbo is an awesome engine, but i think the M specific S68 might be better.
It’s already proven to make close to 900awhp with only a jb4 and some ethanol and wasn’t anywhere near maxing out the stock turbos.
The header plumbing makes it sound more exotic as well.
I love Porsches, i love the way all of them drive, the insane options list, the tuning and everything.
For the money, i’d be more than happy with the X5M. Besides, a $500 jb4 will put it only 200whp away from plaid power
playing devil's advocate - XM is not comparable just because of the price alone. the market for XM are rich people who want to be seen for whatever reason. i have yet to see an XM that hasn't been wrapped some crazy bright color or driven like an ape is behind the wheel.
My dream garage is 911 turbo s coupe and M5 competition. We have similar taste in cars but I hate cabriolets 😅

Great review guys! Just an FYI for the future, if you ever have any iDrive weirdness, the entire system can be rebooted/restarted by holding the volume button for like 30+ seconds until everything goes blank. That usually fixes any issue I have with iDrive. It also works while driving/the car is on (it gives you a minimal gauge cluster so you still get speedo/tach.

Yes, that’s the fix. I’ve had to do it on mine a few times. It always works.
@@berzerker4998I was wondering what was up with this old iDrive. My 2024 X5 came with the new iDrive a month ago. Everything looks way better and appears to be much easier, with fewer taps. For example, seat heating is two taps. With the voice assistant and gesture controls I haven't missed the buttons too much. Steep learning curve though!
@@TheStraightPipes To be fair, he's not wrong - I work as a Product Genius at a BMW dealership, it's part of my job to know these things, I can't tell you how many times a simple iDrive reboot solves most issues! It's so simple but it fixes I'd say 80-90% of technical/software-related issues customers have.
I saw one parked the other day in a beautiful metallic blue and it was striking for sure. Not as elegant as last gen, but man it looked mean with those comp wheels

I've been drooling over a gorgeous grey X5 M Competition (last gen) in my work parking lot for months... and then someone else started bringing in their red one 😂 two in the same workplace!
I change the following distance on my adaptive cruise control ALL THE TIME.
I would literally not consider this car for this reason ALONE.

In heavy traffic, I can tell which cars have adaptive cruise control by the number cars merging in front of them 😂

@@johnnybravo4976 when active or engaged most cars with adaptive cruise control will have a few second delay before moving forward. This leaves a huge gap between cars in traffic. Provides a perfect time to merge in their lane

I've barely seen any XMs here in Jersey, but I went to LA last month and they are EVERYWHERE out there. Was super shocked to see so many lol
Also, the X5M is much better value at MSRP. But what about in 6-months when you can get an XM for 115-120K? lol
Depreciation doesnt change how ugly that car is, but yeah it definitely is a car for the la / influencer type and them only
I think I’ve seen 1 in Chicago and that was only because it was a large car show so everyone brought their best toys out. I’m sure they’ll cancel them after another 2-3 years.
Really, i live in LA and theyre pretty rare even in the wealthy areas. I mostly see non M models

I agree. I love the looks of this X5, but they should've kept the signature angel eyes that are on almost all previous BMW's. I guess that era is coming to an end...
Would I take X5M Competition over the 2024 Jaguar F-Pace SVR, with 550HP and base price of $110k CDN? No, I switched from 2021 X6 to the F-Pace SVR and super happy that i did. Love the SVR!

The F-Pace SVR is by far the best combination of luxury, practicality and performance. I have a 2023 F-Type for sport car performance and style
Love the X5M, in my experience, you might experience a few technical issues with BMW vehicles but compared to its competitors, you will experience far less if any drivetrain issues in a BMW. I just purchased the main competitor to this model and I only drove it three days and it has been in maintenance for three weeks now. Yes, it is a 2024 that had 10 miles on the clock when I purchased it. SMH!

I have the RS Q8 and wouldn’t trade it for anything. The air suspension makes it a lot more comfortable as a daily.
@@rsmith2320 yes, I’ve watched a couple of reviews on it, great car. The Mercedes has air ride as well and rides pretty smooth but maybe a little harder than Audi. The problem with Mercedes is quality. Mine came with a bunch of factory defects and now I’m stuck waiting for them to decide if they will give me a new one. Exhaust was not even connected to the turbos and no catalytic converters installed, also other leaks.

You can probably get the loud exhaust with no pumped in audio by doing a little coding. At least you can on some of the older cars.

Yeah an X5MC looks great in colors that stand out but it's best as a sleeper in Alpine White and non-black rims so that you can pull up to a stop light and blow the doors of some kid in his Dodge Charger. I had an AMG Wagon way back like that and it was so much fun to leave a Vette in your mirror.

15:06 for anyone dealing with apple car play/android auto issues: hold the power button for the infotainment for like 30 seconds to force a soft reboot (not a factory reset). You'll be able to resume carplay etc. until the next time it chokes on itself. BMW is working on an update.
I've seen about 5 XM's on the road and it's rare that I've actually liked how they look

In the 80's before there was a either a Mercedes or BMW dealer in every town, you could only take your car to a shop owned by a 55 y/o German immigrant named Gunther or Zigmund. Shop was always named Black Forest Motors or West German Auto Werks. And when you called to find it what happned to your car they would proceed to shout at you while telling you what was wrong. "DAS BEARINGS ARE KAPUT!!!"

It seems like the X5 and X3 are the only normal looking BMWs right now, and i really like it. I like the X5M a lot, but i would rather go Maserati Levante Trofeo, or maybe even a Porsche Cayenne Turbo (non coupe) over this. I just think they look a little bit better than the X5m especially the older ones in my opinion.
Think my m340i looks pretty normal.
I've tested the RSQ8, X5M, and the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, Cayenne is just something else. The quality is on another level. Impressive drive train and handling. OTOH, RSQ8 and X5M are easy to get. Go for a Vorsprung or the Ultimate Pack. You'll basically have everything. Cayenne is a PITA with its options.
X5 2021 looks much better than this, inside and out. And it holds same performance.

Appreciate your affiliation with TuxMats...was not aware of this alternative to BMW or WeatherTec mats....I ordered the TuxMats for our 2023 x3 M40i and love them! Excellent fit, not overly adorned with manufacturer's logos. Only downside...they're only available for vehicles in past 5 models years. 5 Stars othewise! (P.S. Between you and Joe Achilles, you made the x3 M40i decision an easy one! That straight 6 B58 coupled with the ZF transmission is very powerful, smooth and responsive drive train!

FWIW, Car Play worked fine in my M550ix until a recent software update. I think they screwed it up
I like it, i actually peffer having the curved dual screen than the old one, the old one wasn't the good one for me... the only thing i don't like is the tail lights.
Have a 2023 m340i with idrive 8 and curved screen. Love it.
Still using the hot V twin turbo set up? Too bad a maintenance and reliability nightmare.
