I was a C.O. in Connecticut for 20 years and I stuck to this man's same philosophy..Give the inmates what their supposed to get,treat all with respect and you'll avoid 99% of the problems in there.Much respect to you C.O. and I wish we could have worked together..
As a former inmate you're 100% correct! Truth be told I actually preferred the CO'S who just went by the book and were fair. I didn't like the CO'S who were so lenient that it caused problems because inmates would be getting high and drunk constantly causing problems. Also didn't like the Robocop ones who shook down every cell all day and were always in a bad mood wanting to write you up for every little thing. Right down the middle guards were my favorite personally.
Lmaoo bro said he had to hold his breath and play jumping jacks like he had to count to 3 before he jumped into that female prison …. I can only imagine I was a custodian some years back and cleaning the women’s bathroom in the summer good lord I had no idea they had levels to their funk 😂
I used to work at rikers and to me it smells like a live poultry market with a bit of spice and the worse part is that it stays on your uniform and you smell it all the way home and that’s when we say “you have to wash the jail off of you” in the shower
When he said it took me about 6 months to get use to smelling butt-ass😮, i was in tears laughing so hard. The way he says "butt-ass" it was just hilarious😊!😊😊
I’m a nurse who worked corrections for years and Leroy is one of the best ones. The CO’s really make or break the facility. His stories bring back so many memories for me working along side some of the best CO’s. I will be subscribing and watching more of your content. Hope to see more from Leroy in the future.

I was corrections officer for 15 years and out of those I worked 5 years in mental health inside the prison before I became a field rider where I rode a horse with a work crew at the prison. Crazy things go on inside prison, 10x as much inside the mental health.

My dad’s cousin and a family friend both were co at rikers at the same time as he was there. They were older than him as they started in the 1970’s. I would always see them with black eyes and stitches. They would tell me crazy stories of how violent it was. My dad’s cousin was constantly taking on the inmates as he was frequently stationed in the kitchen/mess hall where fights constantly broke out in which he would get dragged into them. The family friend did say that as long as you respected the inmates that you usually got respect back but you still were tested.
Former CO did it for shy of 4 years. Not a long stint but long enough to relate some of these stories, especially working the hole, shits a different world. Great content man watching from new hampshire

As a CO we really don’t like to be called “Prison Guards.” We don’t guard anything, we’re officers on the inside just like a street cop is a officer on the outside. Other than that I’ve always tried to be fair, respectful and consistent throughout my career. Some inmates respect that and some of them don’t. That’s just way is inside and out.

I was a former officer as well. I can relate to his stories. Often say I wish I was an officer in his day when times were different. Prison is too political now, that's why I resigned & didn't retire there.
Great story ex co from Rikers Island! Over 5 years of service. Definitely an experience working there. Learned a lot and it never leaves you. Congrats to him for surviving during those years.

I was a former officer as well. I can relate to his stories. Often say I wish I was an officer in his day when times were different. Prison is too political now, that's why I resigned & didn't retire there.
