Thank you for this measured and reasonable response. Much respect! Jirard has made it so that all future charity streaming events will have to be closely scrutinized. His actions carry a lot of weight in this space and it shouldn't be taken lightly. It's hard to believe anyone is still supporting him at this point.
@@HiroesX81 move on??? his show revolves around gaming news topics big and small. This one is a big one and deserves coverage. Pat and Ian need to cover this more to prove their show is unbiased. Otherwise it ruins their credibility for all other news stories they cover.
I’ve read your post, and when you wrote: “I believe that personally knowing someone means that you should hold that individual to a higher standard and not simply ignore or attempt to explain away something that could be very detrimental to the larger community.” Is such a powerful statement. To clarify the earnings thing for The Day Before, Steam only pays out revenue to developers once a month, and only for the previous month's sales. So Fntastic and Mytona have not received any revenue from the game's sales as of now, they won't see that money, if any is left after refunds, until some time in January. I believe that Fntastic was using publisher and investor money for themselves while getting volunteer labor to actually "develop" most of the game, which turned out to be comprised mostly of Unreal Marketplace assets. Some of the controversy surrounding development was the strange travel vlogs and personal team profiles they'd do instead of actually showing the game. The publisher and investors likely have to receive any revenue to make up what was used and probably won't be getting their full investment back considering the game is no longer on sale and so many users are refunding, so I believe that Fntastic themselves will probably make no money on this, as they stated.
I remember when the fallout happened between Greg and Jirard the completionist, and the conclusion of Pat and Ian on their podcast was that, Greg made "such a dick move" by asking Jirard to stop using his image in all his past videos. Which "almost killed his channel". Now the "poor guy" had to re -do all the videos, (and this was like a big fuck you to Greg, right?). 10 years later, and the completionist is being accused of committing charity fraud, with a Dementia Foundation... this is low, we're not talking about fucking drama here. Moral of the story?: you don't want to be associated with someone like that. Greg was right! You don't want an asshole ex-friend to exploit your image over the internet. I cannot believe it, but he was absolutely %100 right.

Was this filmed before Jirard made his statement? You said you would wait to comment until Jirard makes a statement. I know you're friends with both Jirard and Karl and you don't wanna burn bridges, but it seems odd to not even comment on this potential fraud. You wouldn't let that stand for the Amico debacle and I would think you'd hold your friends to the same standard.

After spending months on end rattling on about NFTs, graded games, and other things that you were so quick to label as scams, your silence about The Completionist speaks clearly. Everyone should definitely give you two a pass for not speaking until Jirard's side of the story is out, but now that it is, it seems you guys still won't address the issue. You were so quick to pat Karl Jobst on the back for exposing relationships between entities such as Heritage Auctions and Wata Games, but you're completely silent when one of your own friends sits on charity money for 10 years. Very cowardly.

The Game Awards were fine this year. No one was rushed off the stage. Most of the award winners had just enough time to speak. It was way better than last year’s mess

I disagree with the criticism of this year's game awards. I think they put on a really great show, and Jeff is clearly trying to avoid making it JUST like the Oscar's... disagree? when is the last time you watched the Oscar's??? 🤮
I do however agree that the Dev's should have had more time for their acceptance speeches, atleast 3 - 5 minutes.
I had never heard of this Fntastic Studios debacle, but I think they could have been saved if they could have gotten Tommy Tallarico on board. That would have been the ultimate team.

Two things can be (and probably are) true. 1. Jirard did a bad thing by soliciting money based on accomplishments they weren’t (yet) true. 2. Karl Jobst went way out of pocket with accusations or allusions of theft.
My guess is that this ends with an irs audit, no criminal wrongdoing, and lots and lots of War Thunder money for Karl.

Timothee Chalamet used to have a gaming RUclips channel when he was a kid, and he actively plays games. So it's not a celebrity who's too far outside of gaming.
Pat and Ian talk a lot about and get outraged over The Game Awards without having watched it or knowing anything about what went on except little out-of-context snippets. I usually love these guys but this time around they come off as uninformed.
Much needed context:
* Previous year's awards had a speech go for 7 minutes and 59 seconds. They were probably afraid of speeches being absurdly long again and decided to put a cap on the time. The cap they put on it was too short, and not long into the show Geoff Keighley talked to them to ease up and let them have more time. He has admitted it wasn't enough and has promised it'll be better next year.
* ALL of the celebrity appearances were announcements or tie-ins to video-game related media. Anthony Mackie, Jordan Peele, Matthew McConaughey, etc, so essentially part of the promotion of said media. The Chalamet bloke who presented the final award wasn't even presented by their own name, but the name of the RUclips channel he used to post on where they modded Xbox360 controllers many years ago. And he was quick and brief he didn't eat up any time.
* The venue this event takes place is in BIG and EXPENSIVE, all the ads and promotions fund the event in its entirety.
* The vast majority of people tuning in WANT the trailers and promotional material. It's the most watched game award show for a reason. Want something dedicating more time to the awards, check out the Golden Joysticks. But they have plenty of game trailers too, because again, *it's what most people want to see*. The Game Wards isn't just about looking back on the celebrating what's happened, but also looking forward to what's to come.
Having said all of that, some of the awards getting drive-by announcing was pretty sad, I would've thought best Indie game would at least get speech-time.

The game designers and the award winners are treated like commodities to be milked.
This year was the by far a new low, the last couple were getting rough and laughably bad too but honestly just a few years ago it had always been pretty ok. This year was just straight up sad.
You don't own any digital content. That's unfortunately why Sony can get away with this. Basically any digital content is either something you rent for a short amount of time, or something you rent for a very long, undisclosed amount of time.
That, more than anything else, is why physical media needs to survive.

the levels in doom 2 are so rough, they start off of but by after the first 5 or 6 levels the quality drops off hard. doom 1 will always be far superior

Doom 1 is the better game. The level designs are perfect. Doom 2 level designs just try too hard to throw you off. It's more frustrating than fun. Doom 2 did spawn the modding community though.
