Working-class waitress Slim (Jennifer Lopez, Maid in Manhattan) thought she was entering a life of domestic bliss when she married Mitch (Billy Campbell, TV's "Once and Again"), the man of her dreams. After the arrival of their first child, her picture perfect life is shattered when she discovers Mitch's hidden possessive dark side, a controlling and abusive alter ego that can turn trust, love and tranquility into terror. Terrified for her child's safety, Slim flees with her daughter. Relentless in his pursuit and enlisting the aid of lethal henchmen, Mitch continually stalks the prey that was once his family. Finally, Slim is forced to fight back, engaging Mitch in a physical and psychological battle, showing him that she's had ENOUGH! Jennifer Lopez delivers an electrifying performance as a new breed of action hero in director Michael Apted's (The World Is Not Enough) harrowing, high-style hit thriller.

I didn't not understand the beginning part as a kid now it makes sense now. Financial situation was tight cause Mitch would not allow Slim and Gracie to go anywhere. I remember my mom's was screaming when Mitch was jamming the door and we was cheering the moment slim and her babe boarded the bus in tyme out of his reach. Love it 👍🏾😂

It only helped that Mitch looked crazy, chasing some woman and her child. To onlookers, it would look like Mitch was a random, crazy, psychopath, chasing some innocent woman and her child. Mitch's crazy face right outside the bus made him look even more suspicious.

Let alone did he’d actually think that she’d ever leave him. He thought he had her trapped and was gonna keep her against her will, using their daughter as Slims weakness and just expect her to accept the infidelity, beating, and the emotional abuse. Little did he realize that Grace was actually Slims strength all along.

@@jordanmenke5892 What's funny is he valued his family over all the other success he has, such as a ton of money, a high social standing, along with a high position in construction, and could have easily replaced Slim with another one of his ladies if she didn't want to go his ways. He never actually felt content with himself despite everything he had until he became a "family man", and even then his cheating proved how long that lasted. Dude was an emotionally fragile psycho who didn't know his place in life.

A Critic wrote something like,"I got a bad vibe from Mitch from the get go when he "Saved," Slim from that other Customer. It appeared to me that they were in on it together and I was stunned Slim couldn't see through the fake rescue from the start. My gut feeling that Mitch was off was confirmed when Mitch cheated on her and abused her and stalked her and so on."

In real life, Mitch wouldn't have known Ginny's credit card activity. They should have had Mitch plant a pinhole tracking device on Slim's purse or something like that. That would have been more realistic.

That's a good point. But Mitch did seem like the predatory type in general and seemed experienced in it, especially with all his wealth and status. It might not be that easy, but he could probably succeed in getting some rather shady shit done if he tried hard enough. He probably grew up exploiting recourses to be prepared to get what he wanted.

A Critic said something similar. "Of course Mitch froze her assets. As if he would still allow her access to HIS money after she went on the run. " Another Critic said,"Ladies, let this be a cautionary tale. Never rely on a man's money. Slim should have had her own money to take care of herself and Gracie just in case things ever went bad with Mitch, not be relying on Mitch's money. When things went wrong she had to rely on her Friends, Joe, and her Father when she in all honesty should have had a separate bank account with her own money in it."

My oldest sister married an abuser. He was just absolutely horrible to her. I remember one time she bought new clothes for their little kid. In a fit of rage (as happened often) he shredded the boy's clothes with a knife. He beat my sister to a pulp in front of their kid, again, that happened often. She always called my mom when this happened. My mom and dad would go get her. She'd heal, and then go back straight to her abuser. After a while, this got old. My sisters and I lost sympathy. We could not understand why she kept going back. But, a few years later she moved in back with the family, and managed to make a life for herslef after getting a good job. She bought a small house for herself and her kid. Unfortunatley, she turned out to be not such a good mother. Her kid grew up to be such thug. Eventually dying in his early teens in a car accident. 😞
