  • No commentary. No in-game music to avoid copyright strikes. Game-clock time 2h 23min 12sec. This isn't likely the most optimum path, but it is a solid sub 2h30min run with ZERO glitches (no sequence breaks, no quitting out to skip cut scenes or despawn obstacles). Hope you like it!

    It feels weird now that the pure hardest part of Ori is done, and only speedruns present the greatest challenge in this game anymore, and they just skip the story completely. Although I feel like such a small gamer compared to you KorbeK it is nice to see someone play a game until a full end, with everything done, everything.

      +ICED Thanks man I appreciate the sentiment, but don't sell yourself short. I'm just an average gamer, average skill level. I play a lot of games, but I'm not really an expert at any. +KorbeK Gaming I have to say that is a great reply! I'm sure we will cross paths again someday, Ori 2, mirrors edge, maybe even dark souls, or whatever comes out in the future. In the meantime I wouldn't say that you are just an average gamer either, you do play everything and that is what makes your channel so interesting, story mode is often the best mode. Also the halo: master chief collection achievements are still quite impressive.

      +KorbeK Gaming : I wouldn't call yourself an average gamer with the death numbers on 1st and 2nd try that you cited. In some reading around other sites, the average death count first run is 300-400; I've seen as low as ~150 to as high as >1000.
      I never used an XBox controller, but even after being generally used to it in my second play-through, I still died ~150 times. I think I'm average to a little above average as a gamer; I think a big factor in this game in how quick one can get their death-count down is memory, and mine is shitty.

  • @PsychoBackflip
    @PsychoBackflip 6 лет назад +3

    First of all: Woooow!
    The control you have over Ori, the way you adapt on the fly, eliminate enemies in clever and impressive ways! The knowledge and skill you showcase in this video is amazing! Have you ever attended Awesome Games Done Quick or anything like that ? God damn this was insane! 0 Deaths ?!?! Also on that note: You felt relief when this laser didn't kill you and destroyed your whole run: 2:11:10 ? :P
    A HUGE thanks to the developers who actually decided to implement that feature in the game, because your video is a result of their idea and I'm just thankful for having witnessed this.
    I did skip some parts though where you had already been, which you had to back travel through in order to proceed with the initial goal. Other than that I watched everything.
    Also a little eh.. Funny(?) thing:
    I bought this game for quite some time ago and suddenly just decided to give it a try. So I played constantly without breaks and finished the game in like 20 hours. I am one of those who loves to collect everything right ? I was so disappointed when I had finished the last part of the game, was put in the main menu again knowing that I just had a few items left to collect and I couldn't load my game anymore ?!
    I don't think it's a bug and that you actually have to gather every item in those restoration places Like: Ginso Tree, Forlorn Ruins and Mount Horu. Please do tell if there is a way for me to get back into my saved game, because I'm sooo close to getting everything! If it's not possible, it would have been nice to get a heads up about that in the game.

    • @KorbeKGaming
      @KorbeKGaming  6 лет назад +4

      I can't remember if I even see a Definite Edition when I purchased mine on steam, so yeah I bought the original one. Well I figured it was impossible too after not being able to open the file when I clicked on it and then desperately clicked the shit out of the mouse button in hope that something went wrong haha.
      It sucks to see my already completed play through of 20:23:03 11/12 14/15 =(
      1 other thing that also really sucks is that the original game doesn't have fast-travel / teleport but what can you do. I'm gonna get that 100% and then it's gonna be interesting to see how far I get with 0 deaths.
      I have no doubt learned a few tricks by watching your magnificent play-through ^^

    • @Tinyvalkyrie410
      @Tinyvalkyrie410 4 года назад +1

      kakefaen woah I can’t believe the original didn’t have fast travel. That would have made collecting things annoying enough to have stopped me from playing the game altogether. It seems like this is one of those few games where the definitive edition truly is worth the upgrade.

    Guys, I got the one-life achievement. Thanks, man, your video helped me a lot. Some observations I learned after dying MANY times:
    - You do not need to scroll the entire map. Black Root Burrows and Lost Grove are not part of the route to Mount Horu;
    - Dash and light burst trees are not required to complete the game;
    - Stomp is your greatest ally, as it is both attack and dodge;
    - You are only at risk of dying in situations of instant death that are few, in fact. Lasers, falling rocks and Kuro herself. Make a route that avoids these situations as much as possible;
    - Make a parallel save in difficult mode and train in these situations of instant death;
    - If you have to go through an instant death situation to get a life or energy cell, don't do it. It is not worth the risk;
    - I am not a purist to the point of being proud to die on purpose and redo everything. When you notice that you slipped and will die, press esc asap and return to save;
    - When you are below 4 life cells, you can die at any time. Avoid this, press esc and return to save;
    - Map stones are totally unnecessary;
    Anyway, be persistent. When the achievemente popped I almost cried with joy =]

When I replayed it recently I discovered that I can get around that particular hang up by using the D-pad, but it’s still hard for me. I also find it to be the least visually compelling part of the game. Interestingly, the ice level in Will of the Wisps is my least favorite part of that game as well. Mercy Laine Trust me anyone can do a 0 death run. All it takes is practice. Some more than others perhaps, but I died 300 times my first time through the original game. This run has hundreds of hours of practice behind it. :)

    I skipped through chunks of that but dang, that was great. After just spending 16 hours over the last week or so beating it for the first time (99%) I can see I really underutilized some abilities, mainly that upwards bash/dash . I think my old man hands and brain can't remember everything when every button on the controller gets used, and beer don't help either. Awesome game and a great video, very impressive.

    • @KorbeKGaming
      @KorbeKGaming  4 года назад

      Depending on which version of the original Ori you play there is. The 100% completion achievement requires you to get all the spirit light orbs on the Definitive Edition version, but you can also backtrack and re-enter the Ginso Tree on the definitive edition so there's no need to try and get them during the escape. On the original Ori, the spirit orbs don't count toward any achievements, but you also can't backtrack after you complete the escape.

    • @KorbeKGaming
      @KorbeKGaming  7 лет назад +3

      CaptainRed1000 TBH getting dash early wouldnt be a bad idea. I just personally went for a path with the least backtracking, but getting dash early might make up for the backtracking in the long hall.
      The other thing is playing in One Life mode makes getting dash early risky, and dashing around isnt something that I am super used to doing, so I didnt want to risk dashing into a one hit kill location, hence why I dont use it much even after I get it.
      Everyone has their own style. I wouldnt even consider myself a true speed runner tbh.

    Which would you say is harder, getting a decent run on One Life mode or just getting through on Hard mode with minimal deaths?

    • @KorbeKGaming
      @KorbeKGaming  7 лет назад +6

      Hard mode isn't much harder than normal/one life mode after a certain point. It's harder in the beginning because you die easier, but once you get some of your abilities and spirit tree, it's minimal difference. So I would say One Life is harder because it makes you tense if you don't save scum it, if you just want minimal (but not zero) deaths on Hard mode.

    • @KorbeKGaming
      @KorbeKGaming  6 лет назад +1

      David Bowersox Minimal deaths on hard mode is easier because once you upgrade the skill tree the game doesnt even really feel harder than normal mode. The most dangerous obstacles are the one shot kill ones, so going through on One Life is the biggest challenge.
