  • In this video I show you how to make a super gentle and 100% natural bar of soap using fresh turmeric, coconut milk, and sweet orange and lemongrass essential oils. This soap should be gentle enough for even the most sensitive of skin. The below recipe should make approximately 3 lbs of soap which fits inside most beginner-sized molds. It is also a great recipe for beginners to make an amazing bar of soap.
    Recipe:
    Palm Oil: 200g
    Coconut Oil: 200g
    Shea Butter: 100g
    Olive Oil: 500g
    Lye: 136.79g
    Water (or water replacements): 277.73g
If you don't want to use palm in your recipe, you can replace it with other oils. Just make sure to go through a soap calculator to make sure your new recipe has the correct calculations. Shea butter, cocoa butter, and lard are comparable type oils to palm and make good replacements. I use www.soapcalc.net for all of my recipe calculations.

Will this soap stain? Skin, tub/tiles? Thanks x

No, definitely not! I didn’t really use that much and when it saponifies it kind of becomes part of the soap. I would have to probably add an insane amount to get a colored lather!

Thanks for asking! I wondered, too. My daughter used turmeric in a face mask and it stained everything.

So pretty! Our turmeric isn’t that orange but more on the side of a light yellow. Can I ask how much turmeric you used and how much coconut milk you added? TIA 😊

I added three of those little roots, probably about 1-2 oz and then 4 oz of coconut milk.

What type of coconut milk do you use?

Just one from the store. I look for a water and coconut only variety. The ones with gums can make things get thick quickly.
