Hi, Im a medicine applicant and my PS is geared towards medicine, even though it does include pharmacy elements in the PS, i doesnt seem enough to express my interest and motivation for pharmacy as my goal is medicine. I received an interview invitation from nottingham pharmacy but how should i answer questions like "why study pharmacy?" or like "what made you interested in pharmacy, not other courses?" , since they already know my main interest is something else because of my PS, should i try answering as if i am truly interested in pharmacy nothing else, or should i answer with my medicine geared thoughts?
lool im in the same boat. I do have previous experience working as a pharmacy assistant for just over half a year at least so that'll help. if you have had any sort of experience working with patients or helping people in a medical/care setting, I think that could be a good aspect to talk about and how you would want to translate that into a pharmacist role as they deal with patients a lot. Also just look up pharmacy interview mock questions online and answer them to the best of your abilities whether alone or w a friend. Read up on pharmacy life including the course itself - even if it's not your main goal, you still have to seem very interested in it.
Hey there, I have got a lot of people asking this question and so I’ve just uploaded a video on how to approach the MPHARM interview as a med/dent applicant. All the best with your interviews!
Hi thanks for this video and I have a question if I don't know 'what contribution could you bring to a career as a pharmacist' is just another way to ask you the responsibility of a good pharmacists, can I just ask the interviewer to elaborate on this question? And also how do you know what they are looking for and answer based on that...
You are allowed to ask interviewers for clarity, so definitely do that. Having said that, an aspect of interviewing is to test your ability to think on your feet and so they might not explicitly rephrase the question but they should give you pointers that will hopefully make the question clearer.
I’m terms of knowing what answer they’re looking for, a good resource would be the GPhC. Look at their standards for pharmacy professionals and take note of the embedded qualities they mention.
I have applied for medicine this year but my fifth choice is pharmacy. My personal statement is about medicine so I am unsure how I'd be able to answer "Why do you want to be a pharmacist?". Do I address that I am a medical applicant but either ways my personal statement is clearly to do with medicine which they would have in front. You said you were a dental applicant so how did you overcome this in the interview?
I addressed this question in my “How I got into both dental school and UCL pharmacy school” video. If you have any more questions after watching it don’t hesitate to ask✨
@@scillaasa I just watched your video and it was helpful :) I got the offer for pharmacy so I am preparing for the interview atm. So I should answer “Why I want to be a pharmacist” as a normal pharmacy applicant?
Yes you should. You’re there for a pharmacy Interview so do not mention anything related to a medical school application unless they ask you (which I don’t expect them to). Everything you say should be relevant to pharmacy
@@scillaasa that's amazing congratulations !! Can I also ask, did u get an unconditional offer because you had already achieved your grades when u applied to the course OR did u apply whilst you were still in school?

Hey, I have a pharmacy interview at UEA on Wednesday 1st Dec - I've applied to 2 pharmacy and 3 medicine . I've applied to both medicine and pharmacy at UEA and have been stuck between the courses for ages and currently I don't know which course I would like to study. Will they know I've applied to 2 different courses at the same uni and do you think this will disadvantage me? I'd be worried that it makes me look indecisive (even tho I am lol) and UEA is my 1st choice uni so I don't want them discrediting me for that. Thank you xx
Heyyy. Every school considers your application individually. Your mPharm and med school applications to UEA will go to the respective schools so no, this should not disadvantage you in any way.
