Great review. Especially cuz we get to see you guys ski so much. And so excited about it. Musta been a fun day. Never saw Jeff in the air so much. Made it look so much fun.
Great news about La Parva in Chile. As a young skier (many moons ago) a spend a lot of winters skiing in those mountains. I truly love it. La Parva is located at only 50 minutes from Santiago at about 2700 mts of altitude. In contrast, Valle Nevado, it is a bit higher at 3000 mts. Being a native chilean skier, now in the States, I appreciate this interesting news indeed. Cheers from Philly. Stay strong !!
Such an awesome review! 183cm 97 kg advanced skier. 184 or 191. Lots of rocker but really interesting Bob found it enough ski! Leaning to 184 in that case. Thanks in advance. Nick.
Jeff is the only person in the universe that gets free pass on wearing a full brown ensemble crowned by a black helmet. He is that big a legend. Any mere mortal who does the same should be beat up on sight. 😂😂😂
Hey now wait just a minute! The Strafe suit is tan with black accents. The Flylow kit is actually more purple than brown, and the knee patches are black, sooooo it kinda matches ;) All joking aside, I do have a white helmet to go with that stuff... I forgot to bring it. ;)
Nice to see Rossignol comeback with a modern Soul 7. Skied with a group of Soul 7s the other day and while great skis they were ugly. This Sender Free 110 looks so much better.
I was just looking for this review yesterday lmao. Glad you guys were working on it. Would love to see this compared to Rustler 10 and the Enforcer 104 Free.
It's a lot like a Enforcer 110 Free, but lighter and softer. Shapes are quite similar, IMO. I actually think Rustler 11 is a much better comparison, but that ski feels a little different to me. Less freestyle influence in its shape. Leans more towards the big mountain/FWT side of the spectrum for skis like this.
So sick! I would love to hear and see a comparison of the Sender Free 110, Nordica Unleashed 114, and Revolt 114 cause they seem to be making waves with freeride-twin tip(ish) / powder category.
Hey Josh! I'd have to say the Sender Free compares more closely to the Unleashed 108 rather than the 114, but the concept remain similar. Longer rocker in the Sender, so it has more of a surfy/smeary attitude. Unleashed uses a lot of camber, which can actually make it a bit more locked in at times, perhaps most noticeable in powder. Revolt 114 kind of goes the opposite direction. We've found it to be very surfy, although I personally want to spend more time on it. Bob's skied it more than I (Jeff) have.
Thoughts on Sender free 110 vs Unleashed 108 vs Mfree 108 for an east coast powder ski and a ski to bring out west? Which offers the best combination of playfullness and stability? Thank you! Stowe is in an awesome weather pattern right now!
M-Free feels the loosest and surfiest. Unleashed is the most responsive and most precise, also with a nice energetic flex. Sender Free 110 is right in between those skis, although I would say leans more towards the M-Free side of the spectrum. QST Blank is kind of like a stiffer Sender Free, with some added early taper to bring back some quickness the stiffness would otherwise negate. Hustle 11 kind of feels like a different animal to me. Not sure why, maybe the slightly lower splay rocker. If I had to, however, I'd say the Hustle skis more like a flatter M-Free than anything else. I think Sender Free, Unleashed, and QST Blank all hit a nice combination of playfulness and stability, they just do it in a different way.
Absolutely love my Sender Squads, really happy that they're making something similar for the non-giants out there. I think a lot of people are going to be very happy with these! (Are they still making the Squad? I've heard that they both are and aren't)
Hey Steven! I'm actually not sure about the Squad. It's kind of one of those skis they don't talk about much, then bam, it's right there on their website when the next season rolls around. I'll see if I can get more info for you, but I agree, I think a lot of people will be quite happy with these.
I'm coming from a 2018 Candide 2.0 188(when they were softer) and have really enjoyed the ski and how playful and versatile it has been. Now after progressing my skiing (advanced-expert) I find that I am frequently skiing close to the edge of what the ski can handle and am looking for a bit more ski. I ski out in Colorado and am frequently in the trees and bumps, but a bit all over the mountain and end up on my fair share of groomers when my buddies are sick of the bumps. I don't ski switch a ton but do like having the ability to pop 180s. As of right now I was considering the qst 106s 189 or possibly this rossignol sender free 110, atris? I would love to hear what you guys think as well as other skis you may consider. I'm 6'4" 170lbs ish.
Ohhhhh Sender Free might be perfect for you! Softer flex than both the QST and the Atris, so if you prefer that feel, it's likely the way to go among those 3 skis.
I'm in the exact same situation and don't know if I should choose qst 106s 189cm or rossignol sender free 110s 184/191cm. I'm the same height and weight as you, so would love to hear what you ended up going with.
@@mathiashald1168 @mathiashald1168 I ended up getting a qst106 in a 189. I did not demo the atris or the sender so I cannot comment on either of those. So far I really like the QSTs, they are definitely stiffer than my candidates but in no way feel like too much ski. I ended up mounting mine at +1.5 and am happy there. You can definitely still ski them backwards but with the arc being as long as it is it's a little easier with some speed. have gotten them in 2 powder days and can confidently say these will float through most anything with a little speed even at +1.5. If you are going to ski super deep pow making tight turns in the trees I could see going wider but other than that I can't really envision a scenario in which I would. At my height and weight I find them really stable in crud at speed, something my candides really lacked, where I feel confident going through the snow and not bouncing around it. They are definitely heavier than the candides which is most noticeable in the air and similarly feel less balanced being further back. Overall I'm really happy with them and would buy them again. I found the senders interesting but at their price tag and weight found it hard to commit to. The atris definitely looks fun but I got a far better deal on the QSTs. The atris also seems to have a bit of a rounder flex ( the tail on the QSTs is quite a bit stiffer than the shovel)
I demo'd these in Jackson over super bowl weekend. I found it to be a really great ski - felt extremely stable at speed and was super fun in the steeps as well.
Trying to decide between m free 108 in size 182 or sender free 110 size 184! This would be my daily driver for the coming season in Revelstoke. I’ve had great experience with my 185 m free 99’s but want more float. I loved how loose and easy to manoeuvre the m free 99’s we’re and would like to retain some of that manoeuvrability in a wider package that can also hold a good edge and handle mixed conditions. I’m an ex racer who is looking for a versatile tool to progress my freeride/freestyle abilities through the winter. Tree skiing, cliffs, occasional park, first tracks in deep snow, whatever does the best job of balancing all those requirements is gonna be what I go with. Whichever ski I choose will end up with a cast pivot 15 on it so that I can also do some touring off the resort. Please let me know what sounds like it would be a better fit. Thanks!
I have always really liked the energy and snow feel of the M-Free 108. If you have a similar experience on the 99, the 108 will be right in your wheelhouse. Nothing wrong with the Sender 110--that ski is sweet, but the Hybrid Core of the Dynastar skis has always struck me as being very poppy and smooth. I'm 6/2 225 and have skied the 182 in that ski with great success--they do not ski short, even with the profile.
Do you still feel this way with the changes to the m free 108 this season? Curious if you're even a bigger fan of the dynastar now versus the Rossi 110.
I’m curious what the difference in skiing style/feel between this ski and the Atris would be? They seem like skis for pretty similar purposes, and in fairly similar widths, but you mentioned the Atris has a more flexible front and stiffer tail, whereas this Sender has a stronger midsection but flexible in the tips and tails. What kinds of skiing styles do these differences favor, or how does that affect how it feels to ski?
Totally skis designed for similar purposes, but they go about it with a different feel. Sender Free feels much softer to me, particularly in the tips and tails. That gives it a more playful, agile, or maybe more buttery feel. Atris definitely has more stiffness in the tail, and I think it feels more precise as well. Sender is likely going to be better for someone with more of a playful skiing style and attitude. Looking for natural hits to do spins, buttering off natural features, etc. On the other hand, I think it would be a reasonable argument that the Atris is more well-rounded as it will accommodate higher speeds, at least for more skiers.
@@SkiEssentialsThis was the comment I was looking for! Does this comment hold for the old Atris? (The 108 underfoot) Anything additional or different opinions you’d add when comparing this to the old Atris? Thanks for all you guys do for these reviews, I’ve watched hours of them this season, really informative!
Loving these videos chaps. Not sure that its a fair comparison but would love to know which is more versatile between the Sender Free 110 and the Bent 110? What other skis does this Free 110 compare to most? Thanks :)
Probably the sender 110 would be more versatile. The construction appears to be a more hard charging and carving capable ski Than the bent, which seems to be a softer lighter powder focused ski. But I'll leave the final word with skiessentials.
I would agree that in general, the Sender is going to be more versatile with its slightly stiffer flex. The soft flex pattern of the Bent 110 puts it more in a playful-specific category, so to speak. Some limitations to how hard you can ski it, while Sender supports higher speeds.
Ranger 108 feels a lot heavier and more stable, but lacks some of the playfulness the Sender Free has. Actually, you could say the same about Declivity 108 and Mindbender 108, although maybe its most surprising in the Ranger as that shape looks more similar. The QST 106 is a similar ski, but noticeably quicker edge to edge and more precise, arguably a better comparison to the Sender 106 Ti Plus.
I didn't hear you guys mention mount point? Did you guys ski it at the recommended mount point? The rec mount point is fairly close to center, I believe the recommend mount point line is -3.4cm in the 184cm, can you confirm that? There is a line in front of the rec line and behind, curious where you guys skied it at and if it felt like you had enough tip up front to drive the ski, and if you felt any tip dive at all in the soft snow? Thanks in advance!
Hey Dusty! Mostly just skied it on the recommended line. It's so good in that spot. Can confirm, yes, about 3.5 cm back from true center. I can understand wanting to back to the directional line, but I actually don't think many people will go forward to the progressive line. It skis great as is, perfectly balanced, IMO. Powder switch landings would be the only reason I'd consider going forward.
@@SkiEssentials Good to know. The 184 cm tip-to-tail length (top, straight-tape pull) measures 181.5cm, that’s quite short for a pow ski. Knowing that, if you were to buy a pair, would you get the 184 (181 actual size) or go with the 191 (actual measurement is 189) ?
Justis is way stiffer and more powerful. Sender is more nimble in most scenarios, although the Justis being so much narrower gives it a quicker edge to edge feel on firmer snow and at higher edge angles. I would say if you could mash together the Atris and Anima, then make that a little softer, you'd get the Sender Free.
Hey Ski Essentials, I am wanting to start up my freeride journey and am tossing and turning between the sender 110 and the bent 110. As an advanced yet novice free-rider and park skier but loves air, which would u recommend. If it means anything, I am currently skiing the serpos from black crows and love how poppy they are. Love your videos, thanks.
I think that the Bent 110 makes a bit more sense for you. The Rossignol felt more heavy-duty while the Bent is more playful and manageable. If you like the energy from the serpo, you'll find some similar personality in the Bent as well. Have fun!
Could this be something to add to my quiver as a soft snow / powder ski as an addition to Enforcer 88? I am pretty confident skier but not in powder. I guess I would want something that is easy to flick around, is playful and can hold its own in the powder (easy to turn) as well as on groomers. If not, feel free to recommend something else, QST 106 for example?
Yes, this would be an excellent choice. QST 106 would be too if you wanted a little more edge to edge quickness and improved firm snow performance, but the Sender is a blast and I think arguably a better powder-specific ski.
This was an awesome ski review! Felt like everything was covered in good depth. I’m curious to know your thoughts on the Sender 110 compared to the Dynastar M-Free 108? I’ve kind of narrowed my next ski purchase down to those two.
If you're down to those two, you're going to be stoked either way. The biggest difference that I have found is that the Dynastar has a bit more pop and energy when it comes to a carved turn on groomers while the Rossignol isn't quite as dynamic.
They definitely fall into the same category, but the Sender Free uses longer rocker, which gives it a surfier mentality. Unleashed is a playful ski too, but more in a bouncy, responsive way, and less in a slarvy/smeary way. It's an interesting comparison. Both a lot of fun, just a difference in their effective edge, release-ability, etc.
Great review guys. Is there any way you could quantify how much better the 110 Free is than the 106 TI Plus in deep powder, against how much better the 106 TI Plus is than the 110 Free charging and carving on groomers?
I'll try! I'd say the 110 Free is 17% better than the 106 in deep powder while the 106 Ti is 22% better at on-trail and carving activities, especially in softer snow. They make different shaped turns, though, with the Sender making rounder turns across the fall line and the 106 as more of a straight shooter.
Hi, thanks for the great review! I'm looking for a pair of off-piste skis and really think that the rossignol sender free 110 is good for me who likes a bit of playfulness. I'm from Europe, so I'm used to skiing in the Alps where there is nowhere near the same amount of powder snow as over where you are. So I'm not used to doing a lot of off-piste. However, for the whole next season i'm going to Canada on the west coast (maybe Whistler or Revelstoke). So would really like to hear what you guys think about the sender free 110 for me and what size I should choose. Should I choose them in 184 or 191, I'm 6'4 and 170lbs ish and an advanced skier. You are also very welcome to recommend another ski if you think it fits better. Thank you very much in advance!
This is looser, surfier, etc. Even the Unleashed 114 has that same extended sidecut shape, and less rocker than you might think in a ski that big. It really does continue the "wide park ski" mentality, where the Sender feels more like a well-rounded powder ski, at least for a lot more people.
I wouldn't say I'm upset, just dont love the graphic. Not a big fun of the fish graphic on this years black ops either. I do like the more colorful direction though. How would you compare this to the Rustler 11? Seems fairly similar overall, with a bit more freestyle influence.
Rustler 11 has more strength underfoot in my opinion, and yes, lower splay in the rocker and less of a twin tip, so less freestyle influence in its shape, design, and resulting performance.
The Sender feels like it has better energy and rebound to it than the Mana, mainly due to the carbon alloy matrix that Rossignol employs. The Mana is more smeary and purposeful while the Rossignol will give you back a lot of the energy that you put in.
i like your videos and the content and everything you do. i really appreciate your work, but i suggest you do ski tests in other resorts with more alpine terrain, more steeps and cliff drops if you have time or if you have the chance. that would be more interesting for the freeride application of each ski. i wish you good luck in the future and keep up the great work! :)
Appreciate the feedback, Serban! We're lucky to live in Stowe, but I hear ya. What Stowe does offer is consistent pitch (parts of the mountain are actually very steep) over a 2000 vertical foot run. Front Four trails are famously pretty steep, and there's plenty of freeride terrain in there, it's just not the big cliffs with open landings you see in western or European terrain. While I agree with you, and wish we could logistically test in different terrain more easily, I would also make the argument that Stowe, VT is one of the best places on the planet to test skis!
Wow nice ski and nice review! Going in the French alps next March and I want to bring an all-mountain for the on-piste days and a freeride for the off-piste pow days. Do you think the Rossignol Sender Free 110 would be a good choice? How does it compare to a Ferreol Surfeur 112? Thanks!
Never skied the Ferreol, but can say that the Sender 110 is very fun and engaging despite its width and weight. It makes very clean and round turns while also having great float and creativity. Nice and solid underfoot and very playful in the tips and tails.
Wearing both Strafe and Flylow in this one! The darker kit is Flylow, it's a really cool purple for next year in the Quantum Jacket and Baker Bib. The Strafe one-pice is this season's Sickbird suit.
I liked that Atris, but felt it wanted to go straight. I don't think that's a bad thing, but the Sender 110 is more fond of turns, and accomplishes that goal quite effectively. It makes very clean, round, and smooth turns while the older Atris preferred more of a fall line direction.
Lots of similarities in shape, but the Sender Free is stiffer, which ups its stability at speed. On the other hand, Bent allows for easier butters and stuff like that.
Accomplishes very similar things, but it's softer, so a little more playful, or rather maybe easier to manipulate. I think Black has more float, and also more stability at speed. Both great skis, both have their merits.
I love the recommended spot, which is 3.5 cm back from true center. There's a line more forward than that, and one further back, but I never felt a reason to move it at all, which is kinda rare for me (Jeff).
Awesome review! I was wondering if u could help me decide wether I buy these since a friend is selling them with little use for 600 USD (without bindings). The thing is I've never skied with wider powder skis, the ones I currently have are the Elan 76C which I understand aren't at all like these skis. If u could help me understand if its a good decision to make the leap right on to the sender frees. Thank u!
It's a big leap, but that's a good price! You won't find a better 2024 powder ski for less money. You will not need a wider ski, that's for sure. It would likely be more prudent to split the difference and try to find something in the ~102 range like Fischer Ranger 102 or Armada Declivity 102, just to make the transition a bit easier, but it's tough to pass up that deal.
Can you speak to the mount point? I Just got a pair and mounted them at recommended and its ridiculous how forward they are. Even the "directional" mount seems real centered. Any recommendations for a traditional style charging skier?
Hii, I know this is a difficult question...I ski the bents 100 & 120 rn but want an all day quiver thats more stable and can kinda do it all, without loosing tooo much freestyle performance. Would you rather go with the blackops 98 or the sender 110? Or nore precise: are the better park/groomer performances of the blackops 98 worth the worse soft snow/powder applications? I'd probably ski 50/50 groomer, off piste/powder with them. For only park and deep powder I've got the two bents, now I just need something where you can ski some fresh snow in the morning and rip groomers and chop in the afternoon. Maybe could even sell the 120 when going for the sender 110... I would love a response! You are awesome, have a great day :)
I think you're looking for the Blackops, but only if you're keeping the 120. If you're looking to split the difference then Sender 110 is a fantastic choice. Overall, though, I am continually impressed with the performance and versatility of the Blackops 98 when it comes to mixing park, groomers, and powder.
@SkiEssentials I also ski stowe or smuggs, mainly in the woods, looking to get some end of season deals and was also looking for 110s but ON3Ps woodsman. First par of skis I’ve ever ordered and also seems like they will be the longest I’ve ever had. I’m a little worried they will be to big for the woods there and you guys seem like stowe experts so figured I’d ask. I’m 6’0” and about 225lbs and they recommend minimum 187 (EE 149) for my height but also have 182 (EE 144.5), what length would you recommend?
I'm 6/2 225 and find that something in the high 180's is pretty long for Stowe. If you emphasize woods skiing and tighter zones, I don't think the 182 will be too short--lots of surface area on that ski in a 110!
I don't think the comparison is crazy at all. Certainly quantitative terms like "better" are harder to define, but by looking at the skis, a few differences jump out to me. First, the metal of the K2 is longer in both tips and tails, spreading out to full-width in the shovels, so there's just more meat to the Mindbender. Rossignol's use of Carbon Alloy Matrix throughout does add stiffness and power, just not the dampness of the metal. Tail shape is pretty different, too, with the Sender being a twin tip basically while the K2 is considerably more directional in nature. Creative skiers will likely gravitate to the Sender while those that are more business-like and direct with their skiing will prefer the K2.
@@SkiEssentials awesome, thank you. great feedback. ive been on the reckoner 112 daily for few seasons now, and love that ski but wanting a little more stability.
I demo'd these today at Solitude post 14" storm. All conditions from untracked pow in the trees to tracked and cut up pow in steeps and groomers. I did not find them satisfying in any way. East Coaster. I ski a variety of skis, including Rossi, so I'm not reacting off a single ski experience. There is no personality to this ski. Heavy at 2200g, and plank-like. Seemingly stiffer underfoot, but not smooth through the ski. Not easy to swing left and right in deeper snow, 14-20", in trees. Hope this is useful to anyone that might read. Enjoy!
What are you recommendations for length? I'm 6' 185lb and typically ski a 177-179 length for narrower skies. Would a 184 fit well? Or should I size down?
Haven't skied the Nomad 115, but can tell you that the Sender 110 is a very capable ski in all of those applications. Loved it in the tighter trees here in VT--surprisingly easy to get around while remaining totally smooth and powerful when opened up at speed.
Thanks. After much searching I'm really beginning to think the Sender 110 ticks all my boxes. Keep up the great work guys & happy skiing!@@SkiEssentials
We didn't really experiment at all, mainly because our demo set came with a fixed toe. I'd imagine Jeff would be one of the first to move the whole thing forward and see what the capabilities are.
Sender free feels a bit more substantial but not as playful. If you're a freeride athlete and are looking for the stronger ski, the Rossignol is the way to go.
Sure! The softer the better, but for a 110, it's a pretty versatile ski. It's not terribly quick or agile, but it is very floaty, smeary, and playful. If you're a creative skier and spend most of your time off-trail, it's a nice ski for sure.
We were on the line. It works fine with how the ski is supposed to be used and lines up well with the height of camber. It's a progressive ski and should be mounted as such.
Me again guys - apologies for being a pain. Could you please give me a brief comparison of this Sender 110 Free with the Nordica Enforcer 110 Free? Specifically; deep pow, light pow, soft crud, hard crud, moguls, soft groomers and hard/icy groomers? As you can tell I'm looking for a 1 ski quiver for (mostly) Japan. I currently ski on Volkl 1's which are awesome in light and deep pow and crud, but become pretty useless when things harden up. Many thanks again.
Sender is more soft-snow specific for not quite as aggressive skiers. When things get firm, cruddy, bumpy, or manky, I'd rather be on the Enforcer, but for most deeper snow zones, the Sender is a really fun-loving floater. It's just not quite as high-performance or stable as the Enforcer.
Hi, searching for new skis. Been skiing Rosi S3 for 10years and it worked perfectly for me. Is it similar skis? Or what would you recommend? I’m skiing 50/50 powder / resort. Would ski 90/10, but usually starts snowing when need to leave😂 I’m 1.79m and 80kg
S3 skiers should check out the Salomon QST line--the 98, specifically, offers a great blend of short-turning capabilities and deep snow acumen. The 106 is great, but obviously wider and less resort-oriented. DPS Pagoda 100 RP also fits this bill.
Hi@@SkiEssentials, I've read that QST's are not very durable ski, that stops me from buying it. Maybe Nordica Unleashed would be something similar? I would like something more dedicated for powder.
We haven't experienced more or less durability issues with the QST line--they seem to be about average. Nordica Unleashed, especially if you're comparing 98's to 98's and 108's to 106, is more cambered and less tapered, giving the Unleashed a better on-trail carving performance with more dampness. They're not quite as floaty or playful as a result, so that's the other side of the coin. @@zilvainas
@@SkiEssentials , what is the nearest skis to QST 106? I'm also added Nordica Enforcer 104 Free to my list , but from comments it looks that these ski doesn't like shorts turns, trees and need to work hard with them:)
I’ve been watching a ton of reviews on this channel about skis, I started skiing when I was really young but then switched to snowboarding. Now I want to do both, I want to be able to mess around in the park a bit, and also go switch. Groomers and carving is probably more important for me thoug. At the moment I’ve settled on the faction prodigy 1, but I saw a video of the mirus cor skis but thought they may be too much for someone just getting back into skiing again any recommendations?
Hey Ben! Yes, I agree, Mirus Cor is a bit too wild for someone coming back into the sport, IMO. Prodigy 1, on the other hand, should work great for you!
There's certainly more of a direct freestyle influence with the ARV 106, while the Sender Free still teeters on that freeride line, but definitely on the playful side.
We've got a good deal on skis and bindings! Free mounting and 2X Loyalty points! www.skiessentials.com/products/2024-rossignol-sender-free-110-ti-plus-ski-w-mark?ski%2520size=184
Pretty darn close. The M-Free has a bit more energy and pop out of the turn while the Sender Free is more powerful overall, especially from a directional standpoint. If you're pointing the skis down the fall line, the Sender Free feels more composed and qualified while the M-Free is more playful and drifty in deeper snow.
I don't mind the graphic it just doesn't really bring anything interesting. Colors are fine, it just doesn't escape dad ski land. I love the 118 graphic though. I'd like to see some of these brands that have more tame graphics offer two graphics for models: a really simple minimal Ranger 102-esque graphic for parents, and a more detailed JSkis/Line/reckoner/ARV/Bent/revolt - esque graphic. This would not be needed for frontside skis obviously.
Couldn't agree more. At my shop we're a line and rossi dealer and yet we still end up mounting more bent chetlers coming in from outside than any other ski. Skis are art and brands that don't understand that are missing out on the pie.
Jeff mentioned about how tips can be grabby.. On my 2021 DPS Wailer F100 x 184 RP I have had the the tips grab and spin me around in a bowl and I was launched.. Yesterday with my 2023 Nordica Enforcer 104 x 179 Free I did notice that too.. It got really wild when I was on Imperial and the wind kicked up and I couldn't see anything.. Granted it was my first day on the skis.. I heard Bob say these skis are more like the Unleashed (non-metal) than the Free (metal).. Weird how the free has metal..
both of you looked like kids in a candy store with that ski.. would you say that the bent chetler 110 or even 100 is softer and the Armada JJ 116 is softer.. I know Armada has a 106 that is stiffer than the 116.. I think it is called the ARV...
i still need to play around more with my Enforcer 104 Free but during slow speeds it seams like if i don't put them at a high edge angle they work fine.. i just made sure that there weren't people close when i had them at a high edge angle but so far they worked good at a high edge angle.. the nice thing about that extra width is that it gave me even more of an angle to work with.. they really carved..
beautiful ski.. i have always been a fan of rossy's.. back before your day i used to race on the rossy 4s equip which had that color.. back in the day i liked them because they were softer skis and they could absorb the work that i would put into them.. they great amount of camber.. i could get 2 seasons of racing out of them and then i would take them to colorado and break the tails in the bumps.. very user friendly.. on monday 2-27-2023 i brought my 2016 stockli stormrider 88s to the shop because i had about a 15 inch gash along the edge.. i got the skis back yesterday 3-3-2023 and i could still see the gash but i didn't have my reading glasses on so i really couldn't see if it was filled.. anyways, they did fill.. all i am saying with this is that when i get something that is good i want to stick with it.. i know these skis are 7 years old but they still rock... i have been on many skis since and when it comes to groomers and hard pack i haven't found anything better..
Unleashed actually has way more metal than the Sender Free, and extends through the tips and tails, and has less rocker! The shape is more like Enforcer Free, the flex more like Unleashed. Bent 110 is softer, JJ is softer, Bent 100 is stiffer. ARV 106 is also stiffer.
@@SkiEssentials wow.. thank you.. i did not know that Unleashed had metal in them... i should probably check your review on them.. i did ski one more time on the Nordica Free and what i am finding is just to keep the skis separate all the time just like when i am carving... they work great that way and i don't have to worry about crossing the tips.. i am planning on skiing tomorrow and it is supposed to be a beautiful day with not much wind so they should not close down the top of the mountain but spring break season has arrived.. i am planning on using my race skis that are over 23 years old.. this should be way different than any Enforcers.. then next week i will get back on either my Stormriders, Enforcers, or Wailers.. O i love saying that;)
Add me to the 1 in 10 that's really upset. Now it's rant time to explain... I became a super fan of the original blackops skis- the style and graphics were ON Point! Then instead of another blackops ski in 108 we got the sender instead, AND they killed the Soul- WTF! And then... this year they just completely left turn nose dived off a cliff with style and graphics with this eco theme-like what do you think of when someone says "blackops" and "Sender"??? Maybe it means something else in French, but certainly not fish and trees and lillypads in my mind. Baby blue sky sunrise- What is this color scheme!?!? Ugh...... I'm glad they FINALLY kinda made a midrange width blackops. I'm glad it skis well and feels like a killer ski. but they could've done it a long time ago. And they could've made it look more... idk, something else. I miss that loving blackops feeling, now it's gone, gone, gone. #stillwaitingforblackops108
I hear you! I thought they could've taken the Black Ops and really ran with that theme. I was kinda shocked when they started working colors into it, then when it was part of the Sender line, then it wasn't part of the Sender line... it definitely got a bit confusing and had us raising our eyebrows a bit. No, I do think they're moving in the right direction, but I still understand where you're coming from. Maybe if we ask nicely Rossi will make us an all black Sender Free 110 and we can pretend it's a Black Ops 108? I always wanted that ski too.
@@SkiEssentials I revisited your review and realized that the damp tech runs almost the full length of the tips and tails- which makes me happier. I'm seeing less red now. And I do also understand why Rossi is departing the aggressive blackops persona. But if they want to capture future generations of skiers, they can't keep catering to the old "dad" generation. You can't please everyone. And it's the young generation who's willing to have a quiver of skis. The previous Gen buys one ski and rides it for 10yr! (*ahem- soul 7) They're not buying lots of skis.
For rossi to go and to slap soul 7 type stuff on a ski thats only here because of skiiers like parker white and chris logan makes me really sad. they take this ski thats a blackops 118 just slimmed down with tech improvements thats meant to be nearly dead center mounted and ridden fast and aggressively with multiple mount lines and soul 7 dad ski type graphics and visable air tip gimmicks and fully abandon the freeski blackops marketing that made me feel like rossi actually cared about free skiing. soul 7s were the tell tale sign that someone was a bad skier and to stay way away from them when they were popular
rossi pushed too hard to the dad ski side of the graphics and marketing with these which sucks because its clearly a just a scaled down blackops 118 with some tech improvements and the blackops line was born from the sickest freeski athletes around. as a firmly anti soul 7 person these are kind of a slap in the face
I prefer the sturdiness of the Sender free over the Bent 110. At 6/2 225, I find the Atomic to be a bit too much on the flexible side while the Sender Free has more oomph to carry my extra mass.
Jeff and Bob are becoming the Jeremy Clarkson & James May on skis……😂😂😂
I dunno, I had a bit of a crash last week that left me feeling more like Richard Hammond... ;)
Great review. Especially cuz we get to see you guys ski so much. And so excited about it. Musta been a fun day. Never saw Jeff in the air so much. Made it look so much fun.
I prefer to spend as much time in the air as possible! A lot of our testing just requires being on snow... ;)
Yeah but he rocks a lot of colored jackets too
Hey now wait just a minute! The Strafe suit is tan with black accents. The Flylow kit is actually more purple than brown, and the knee patches are black, sooooo it kinda matches ;)
All joking aside, I do have a white helmet to go with that stuff... I forgot to bring it. ;)
@@SkiEssentialsWe love you, Jeff!
Nice to see Rossignol comeback with a modern Soul 7. Skied with a group of Soul 7s the other day and while great skis they were ugly. This Sender Free 110 looks so much better.
Agree!
this 110 might be my next one ski quiver! 🤙👍
Nice skiing Jeff! Going to the moon at 16:20!
Haha thanks! That's such a fun spot. Unfortunately, it's pretty much buried now and all flattened out, but was fun while it lasted.
Sounds like a great ski and love that they actually made an effort on the top sheet graphics as compared to the previous senders.
Thoughts on Sender free 110 vs Unleashed 108 vs Mfree 108 for an east coast powder ski and a ski to bring out west? Which offers the best combination of playfullness and stability? Thank you! Stowe is in an awesome weather pattern right now!
Same question here 😅
Throw the QST Blank and hustle 11 into that comparison!
People seem to really love the M Free 108!
@@SkiEssentials Thanks! Plenty of life left in my current pair but I might have to hunt down a backup set if they get discontinued
My boy shredding!!
The Moment Wildcat 108 and Icelantic Nomad 105 are great skis worth considering, but the Sender 110 might be a perfect fit too!
Awesome! Bet it's a fantastic Jackson ski!
@@SkiEssentials interesting, thank you!
How would this compare to the QST 106, Fischer 108, Declivity 108 and Mindbender 108ti?
I’m also interested in the comparison to Fischer 108
Ranger 108 feels a lot heavier and more stable, but lacks some of the playfulness the Sender Free has. Actually, you could say the same about Declivity 108 and Mindbender 108, although maybe its most surprising in the Ranger as that shape looks more similar. The QST 106 is a similar ski, but noticeably quicker edge to edge and more precise, arguably a better comparison to the Sender 106 Ti Plus.
@@SkiEssentials Perfect. thanks so much.
How would you compare the black Crows Justis to Rossignol Sender free 110. Which feel stiffer and more nimble? Thanks
Jeff was flying
That jump kinda formed out of nowhere this year. It's not normally like that and I've never even thought about going that big in that spot.
Great! Thanks,I appreciate the insight.
How does it not ski short with all that rocker?
Give a lot of credit to the metal underfoot! It's pretty stiff through the middle portion of the ski, so gives you more confidence than some.
Would love a comparison of these and an Unleashed 108
They definitely fall into the same category, but the Sender Free uses longer rocker, which gives it a surfier mentality. Unleashed is a playful ski too, but more in a bouncy, responsive way, and less in a slarvy/smeary way. It's an interesting comparison. Both a lot of fun, just a difference in their effective edge, release-ability, etc.
20:15 Bob, how often are you moving from the recommended mount point to be closer to centered?
That was Jeff speaking about that, and he's a lot more likely to at least take the furthest forward point, but probably not centered.
We had a blast on this ski on a snowy day last year--so much fun and a great turner as well. I'd go with the 184 based on your stats and application.
How does it stack up the the new nordica 114 unleashed?
This is looser, surfier, etc. Even the Unleashed 114 has that same extended sidecut shape, and less rocker than you might think in a ski that big. It really does continue the "wide park ski" mentality, where the Sender feels more like a well-rounded powder ski, at least for a lot more people.
which ones better in trees these or qst blank or atris?
Gotta be these or Blank. They're just a little easier.
How do you guys think this would handle deep powder?
Extremely well.
The design makes me think of nintendo switch joycons
i may go back to ROSSI
I think they may bring a lot of people back!
hey thanks for this review! how would you compare these to the Faction Mana 3s? Thank you!
The Sender feels like it has better energy and rebound to it than the Mana, mainly due to the carbon alloy matrix that Rossignol employs. The Mana is more smeary and purposeful while the Rossignol will give you back a lot of the energy that you put in.
Very similar to my moment wildcat
i like your videos and the content and everything you do. i really appreciate your work, but i suggest you do ski tests in other resorts with more alpine terrain, more steeps and cliff drops if you have time or if you have the chance. that would be more interesting for the freeride application of each ski.
i wish you good luck in the future and keep up the great work!
Who makes your kit? I dig the color!
Wearing both Strafe and Flylow in this one! The darker kit is Flylow, it's a really cool purple for next year in the Quantum Jacket and Baker Bib. The Strafe one-pice is this season's Sickbird suit.
Great video and review. how would this compare to the old atris back when it was 108 underfoot?
I liked that Atris, but felt it wanted to go straight. I don't think that's a bad thing, but the Sender 110 is more fond of turns, and accomplishes that goal quite effectively. It makes very clean, round, and smooth turns while the older Atris preferred more of a fall line direction.
Any thoughts on comparing this ski with the Bent 110?
Lots of similarities in shape, but the Sender Free is stiffer, which ups its stability at speed. On the other hand, Bent allows for easier butters and stuff like that.
I’m currently on the qst Blank. How would it compare to that?
Accomplishes very similar things, but it's softer, so a little more playful, or rather maybe easier to manipulate. I think Black has more float, and also more stability at speed. Both great skis, both have their merits.
hi , guys can you tell what's best mounting point ??? ,i ride bent 110 , unleashed 108
Maybe go -4 from that line?
Dear Santa, please offer a Rossignol Sender 92 or 94 Free for next ski season; just for those days that we don’t get new soft or deep snow days
Crazy question, if comparing this ski to the k2 mindbender 108.. which one is better 😅
Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing this great feedback!
What are you recommendations for length? I'm 6' 185lb and typically ski a 177-179 length for narrower skies. Would a 184 fit well? Or should I size down?
I think if you plan on skiing pretty fast in more open zones, the 184 would be appropriate.
How would the Icelantic Nomad 115 compare to this? Powder, crud, bumps, trees, big mountain?
Haven't skied the Nomad 115, but can tell you that the Sender 110 is a very capable ski in all of those applications. Loved it in the tighter trees here in VT--surprisingly easy to get around while remaining totally smooth and powerful when opened up at speed.
Thanks. After much searching I'm really beginning to think the Sender 110 ticks all my boxes. Keep up the great work guys & happy skiing!@@SkiEssentials
Anyone have thoughts on mount point with these? Is progressive worth playing around with?
We didn't really experiment at all, mainly because our demo set came with a fixed toe. I'd imagine Jeff would be one of the first to move the whole thing forward and see what the capabilities are.
How does the Sender Free compare to the Dynastar Mfree 108?
Sender free feels a bit more substantial but not as playful. If you're a freeride athlete and are looking for the stronger ski, the Rossignol is the way to go.
hey! do you think this ski would work as a daily for out in Colorado? i'm 6 foot 2 and 190 lbs and ski mostly ungroomed runs.
Sure! The softer the better, but for a 110, it's a pretty versatile ski. It's not terribly quick or agile, but it is very floaty, smeary, and playful. If you're a creative skier and spend most of your time off-trail, it's a nice ski for sure.
Did you mount these at the factory line or back? -3.4 from center for the factory mount feels too far forward for this ski?
How would you compare these to the ARV 106's?
There's certainly more of a direct freestyle influence with the ARV 106, while the Sender Free still teeters on that freeride line, but definitely on the playful side.
this video is going to cost me $900

www.skiessentials.com/products/2024-rossignol-sender-free-110-ti-plus-ski-w-mark?ski%2520size=184
How does this compare to an MFree 108?
Pretty darn close. The M-Free has a bit more energy and pop out of the turn while the Sender Free is more powerful overall, especially from a directional standpoint. If you're pointing the skis down the fall line, the Sender Free feels more composed and qualified while the M-Free is more playful and drifty in deeper snow.
are these softer than faction mana 3?
Pretty similar, although the Rossignol has more metal underfoot, so the mid-body of the ski is more burly with the Sender.
First
For rossi to go and to slap soul 7 type stuff on a ski thats only here because of skiiers like parker white and chris logan makes me really sad. they take this ski thats a blackops 118 just slimmed down with tech improvements thats meant to be nearly dead center mounted and ridden fast and aggressively with multiple mount lines and soul 7 dad ski type graphics and visable air tip gimmicks and fully abandon the freeski blackops marketing that made me feel like rossi actually cared about free skiing. soul 7s were the tell tale sign that someone was a bad skier and to stay way away from them when they were popular
i think it looks like shit, waiting for next graphic to buy it. 😢
Those things are so ugly. Wish they had thrown a blackops type graphic on it
It would seem we have a great mix of opinions about the graphics among these comments!
rossi pushed too hard to the dad ski side of the graphics and marketing with these which sucks because its clearly a just a scaled down blackops 118 with some tech improvements and the blackops line was born from the sickest freeski athletes around. as a firmly anti soul 7 person these are kind of a slap in the face
While I was never personally a fan of the Soul 7, it certainly made a lot of skiers very happy.
VS Bent 110?
I prefer the sturdiness of the Sender free over the Bent 110. At 6/2 225, I find the Atomic to be a bit too much on the flexible side while the Sender Free has more oomph to carry my extra mass.
Thank you!@@SkiEssentials
Oh boy is this great ⛷❄️
