DJ Mustard on the importance of producer tag for producers Credit: MILLION DOLLAZ WORTH OF GAME #timbaland #beatmaker #songwriter #inspiring #producers #music #musicindustry
Pharrell has one of the most clever tags, where it’s a four count at the start of the music. Every musician has their own tag, like Dave Grohl’s signature drum tag is the flam and triplet, you know it’s him when you hear that combination. You just have to find it, and make it subtle.
I think producers in the 2000s didn't need it because everyone was different. Everyone knew a Timbaland beat, everyone knew a swizz beatz beat, everyone knew a mannie fresh beat when they heard it, they didn't need to tell you they did it because they're sound was their own. Now, everybody has a similar style so they have to tell you who did it because it could be 7-8 other producers too.
the side effect of producing being more and more availble and cheap.. millions of bedroom cracked FL producers who dont invest a dime into producing have similar style and can make it out to producing for soundcloud artists
@@ohnaw223 thank God for that cracked shit. I had that cracked shit for engineering on logic. It's great to get you started. A lot of good music came from cracked software. Eventually you're gonna have to step up to the real shit, but that cracked shit did a lot for niggas.

Yea that 4 count is crazy
it wasn’t even meant to be a tag at first, it was meant to get singers on beat
that'ss dumb af, a tag is supposed to give you some info abt who made the beat, a 4 count only makes sense if you already know it's pharell
Also it's literally just a 4 bar stutter, a ton of producers do that, it's nothing unique

Everyone was biting timbaland back then..

@@tyresefulks9153 I wouldn't say that. I can't think of a producer that bit timbaland or his sound. Not saying it didn't happen, none come to mind.
