@@TheRealDirtySkillz I mean I liked his small contributions he often did vocally on certain pop/rnb songs. Don’t compare him to HOV or something like that 🤣
While everybody can hear that he used some creative production techniques it's a whole different story to analyze it, remake it and present it like you did, Navie. Congrats! Regarding the 2nd example wasn't there a controversy back in the days because he did not clear the sample? I always wonder if that was his decision or the idea of the label to rip off those middle eastern artists.
They settled. Technically it’s the label’s legal team to clear the sample. The producer of the Big Pimpin sample wanted more ownership into the song but the court decided against it.
Timbaland truly is a G.O.A.T. cuz the way he creates different textures and sounds is crazy but it works. I made a video using the same sample he used for Are U that Somebody and it took me a minute to come up with something decent. lol Seeing you break down Bounce blew my mind though.
Thank you for this one. Im from the 757 and love Pharrell, Timbo, Missy, Davonte...pretty much anything from the Tidewater Area. I think one of the big things Timbp does, that you might have missed (or maybe saving for a part 2) is incorporating beatboxing in the beat. Someone might have mentioned this but i didnt read all the comments. Great breakdown.
Wow, what a great overview. Thanks for all the details while explaining and rebuilding the beats. I assume this did take you a lot of time to prepare everything, but it was worth it, I never learned so much in 9 minutes ;)
Would love to see you break down Beanie Siegel's 'In The Club'. One of Timbalands most insane beats in my opinion. Sample and drum pattern is so unique
Your videos really helped me get a lot better in making old school beats. It would be great if you can make a video explaining clams casino's production... his style of production is just very fascinating...
Love these overview videos man, keep them up! Timbo is one of my favorite producers hands down; just knowing that someone from my neck of the woods making ish like this inspired me to get into production as well.
Man i really love you vids! You should analyze Mike Shinoda (from Linkin Park / Fort Minor) style of beats, drums, melodies, structure, etc etc etc. For me he's the most underrated but at the same time one of the most talented producers outside of hip-hop!
I believe timberland uses the MPC 2000 XL to make this beat. Before pro tools and all that stuff. The keyboard might have been first generation Korg trinity with the Roland JV 2050
Can u just imagine when as a kid hearing all these songs and years later u get into beatmaking at some point years later as u progress and get better then come back and out of nowhere u remember songs bro back then that you listen to or heard and all of a sudden see it in fl studio and see details behind the beat. This is crazy. My mom and sister listened to her music when I was a kid. It's crazy to also see the producer behind the song showcase wild I don't think beatmaking on RUclips even existed idk it's really interesting. Even exciting when something is giving an example in your favorite DAW mines for example is fl studio. Seeing the details behind it in fl studio is really crayy feels wierd in a good way
Yes, Royce was originally on renegade The actual song is even floating on RUclips somewhere. Jay was trying to do the whole end feature thing and he showed him some stuff and then he asked if he could have that song and just keep Em's verses on it. It was already recorded and finished before hat did anything with it...which makes it a fact that his verses were written(Jay styled in the booth or whatever) AFTER hearing Ems.
Thanks! Can you make another video on types of instruments/sounds and what they’re used for? Kinda like an advanced tutorial… not just for conventional beats? Or even just conventional instruments
Love Timbo to death for much of his earlier work (10 year plus ago) but he tends to rely on co-producing a lot more these days and his beats aren't as ahead of the curve as they once used to be. Most times we refer to his best work is his old work. Was also very underwhelmed by his Masterclass series.
I just used this technique as a challenge from some sample that had all hi hats and the parts I wanted so I took some notes and 16 leveled it. Not the best beat but it was just practice with the technique
Listen to Jodeci's last 2 albums to get a feel for Where Timbaland started. People overlook the genius Timbaland learned from the Genius Devante. All the layering etc came from Devante. Those albums are incredible masterpieces.
Navie, your soundpacks are amazing. Been working on producing for a while and got a lot of different sounds from different places, but when I got your most basic pack something just clicked. The quality is so good, it's like a catalyst for ideas. In a couple of hours I created something I feel is better than anything I've done before. Maybe I just got better at producing, but the sounds just inspired me. I can't afford the more expensive ones right now, but when I got the money I know where I'm gonna put it. Keep up the good work, cause you're inspiring a lot of people
I am into minute 5 of watching and had to stop to comment. You did a really great job with this brother! Timbaland was and still is a musical idol for me. He had a big influence on finding my own style and developing it. My friends knew how fascinated I was by his music and as a teenager I was even called Mbaland because of my first name. Hope to work with him one day and maybe also have an impact on the upcoming generations of producers. Thanks again, it was really informative and entertaining!
Great explanation and break down i miss the days where you can listen to a song on the radio and know who produced it no need for tags now all the producers using the same kits same 808s i cant tell who produced what on the radio now
Much love to you Navie D, some of the best production history videos on RUclips. The course plug is sweet (seems like a great course, im all for online knowledge transfer) but I feel like saying "if you struggle with your beats" is an unfair way of marketing it. There's stuff to be learned in it sure, but it's not going to fix all the Mr. Struggles out there...
You forgot to mention, in are you that somebody he also implements a sample of a baby laughing thats an insane amount of creativity like how does he came up with it🤯
'Kaloly' Ansa by Mayada El Hennawy - Timbo the King! The laughter he sampled to produce the song bounce, when i heard the beat i was like who's gonna be able to rap fast to this beat lol. that laugh.
Tim can turn a one shot guitar note into a platinum track. When he layers his synths over it...thats the money moment. Get your Freak on..Luv 2 Luv U and Hit em With the Hee are prime examples of this technique
There will never be another Timbaland. He produced so many insane songs that are now classics, from so many different very well known artists. He worked with Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Madonna, Nelly Furtado, Usher, Snoop and Nate Dogg, Jenifer Lopez, The Pussycat Dolls, Rihanna, 50cent, Flo Rida, Drake, Lil Wayne and so soo many more. Just look at wikipedia/wiki/Timbaland_production_discography
Tim's groove is unmatched.
Definitely. A unique ear for rhythm
I think he's the best producer of them all.
But for some reason, they keep saying Dre is.
Bounce is one of the craziest beats of all time
Really cool how he put it together too
The laugh sample caught me off guard when I heard it in a random sample pack.
Maaaan omg, the older beats used to grab your soul and you couldn't control your body at the time 🤣
@@Spit1990
🤯
Idk about the bounce beat. I do think Timbo is a damn genius producer though.
The fact that you recreated the loop in fl when Tim probably used a drum machine or keyboard workstation is dope
Timbalands beats are complex and simple at ehe same time. True sign of a genius
His beatboxing is next level too and on top of that he’s a great MC. Truly the 🐐
I wouldn't say a great Mc. One of the illest beat makers though.
@@TheRealDirtySkillz I mean I liked his small contributions he often did vocally on certain pop/rnb songs. Don’t compare him to HOV or something like that 🤣
Yeah great mc is a little wild but timbo definitely a genius 💯 lol
yeah, his beatboxing is amazing. he starts off the drums that way

If my history serves me well,it's One In A Million and 4 Page Later, that broke him....Are You Somebody was already when he was semi established
That’s exactly what I thought and felt when I was watching this video. Navie D is amazing. I’m subscribing
Why is Karim Benzema teaching me about FL pitch sampling? I love it
Hahaha u crazy
That is so crazy, as crazy as benzema scoring 15 goals in the 21/22 ucl season google benzema 15

Timbaland is a musical genius. One of his craziest beats is for Jay-Z’s the Originator.
Facts!!! That beat is not just a classic but a classic song that I still listen to today.
by Jaz-O ft jay z? couldn't find one by jay z and the jaz-o song is produced by jaz-o
Oh you mean "Nigga What, Nigga Who" 🤷🏾♂️😂

Too bad DJ Clue ruined it
Your videos really helped me get a lot better in making old school beats. It would be great if you can make a video explaining clams casino's production... his style of production is just very fascinating...
Now this would be great, and also maybe some stuff from flying lotus circa his Los Angeles album
I agree! Clams Casino would be amazing for a production breakdown. His song "I'm God" is one of the most blissful things I've ever heard
I swear he just did one right?
Amazing breakdown! I didn't even know Serato could do repitch like that! Keep up the great content!

You explain so well. Well done and thank you for your work for the community
Love these vids bro keep them coming the alchemist joint was like “Why the hell I ain’t think of that”
Wow this was the beste Timbo Break down I have ever seen 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Great work Navie!
This fr that's one of the best produced albums of all time 💯💯💯

Great breakdown dude.... very well done!
Crazy how that minor chord still works when its supposed to be a major on the 3rd chord. The lead line overpowers the minor 3. Very cool.

He talks about how he didn’t stay on top of the game and caused him to lose touch with what’s hip at the moment which is why he needs a co producer

Moose's dance to Bounce at the end of Step Up 2 was insane. That track goes so hard.
I can see how talented you are by how you can understand other people's music. That's amazing❤

This is my favorite technique, I’ve made a lot of beats like this. Haven’t touched a DAW in years
