I think they also had a loop chain accessory that could work in conjunction with this lock.
I wish they’d also shown the use of that.
Thanks for the call-out! Yes, the ABUS Adaptor Chain pairs with the ABUS Wheel Lock 5650L NR. If you have additional questions about them please don't hesitate to reach out to our Customer Experience team at - radpowerbikes.com/support.
@@RadPowerElectricBikes Hi
How do I measure the sizes of the lock and my bike size because I bought 2 types earlier and they were wasted as they were smaller for my ebike?
Thank you
@@mohsinsheikh1961 Hey there, we recommend speaking with a reputable bike mechanic if you are thinking about using third party accessories with your bike. We cannot make any recommendations for parts we haven't tested, but a bike mechanic would be able to help you find locks that are the right size.
Desperately looking for something like this but for the RadExpand 5 with 4" fat tires.
Me too... did you find some??
@@bkim-n3s I think RadPower is now selling this type of lock for their fat bikes. Take a look at their shop
Does this only work on the rear wheel? With the front wheel having the quick-release I'm more concerned about someone walking away with it than I am the rear wheel.
was thinking of just zap-strapping mine to the front wheel somehow as well because of this reason
The rear wheel and motor are the big money parts besides the frame itself. This lock can be combined with an adapter chain to lock the frame to a pole or tree also. The end of the chain locks into a hole in this lock. The front wheel and seat post would have to be locked separately.
jima28080 To remove the rear wheel you have to completely remove the nuts, unscrew and remove the derailleur guard, unscrew and remove the failsafe plate, snip the zip ties, and unplug the power cable. The front tire literally has a quick release lever on it-no tools needed. If I’m going to secure my bike somewhere to dart into a store it’s far more likely that someone would steal the front wheel than to go through all of the work at getting at the rear (that also, btw, doesn’t work without the battery and control system that is attached to the handlebars). If they have the purchase to take the rear, they’d just as soon focus their effort on the lock and take the whole bike.
That’s fine on the standard RadCity, but how do you get it on the step through? There isn’t enough clearance between the fender, controller and tube.
OK I got a reply from Rad Power bikes tech. You remove the battery pack on the step thru and slide the open side of the lock around the frame.
@@jima28080 Thanks for the information. It does work but it does involve Some holding of your mouth just right, a few curses, standing on your head, a couple more curses and then success. In the end, pretty cool lock and the chain adapter is pretty slick as well, Although it takes a second twist of the key to release it.
@@jima28080 Thank you! I looked at it and thought, "Dang, how am I going to get that in there?" Before getting too upset and starting down a difficult path, I came to youtube, found this comment, and fished the lock through there in a few seconds with no problems at all.
can be mounted on MTB BIKE ... like specialized ???? TY
How can one install this on the RadCity 5 Plus model? It doesn't come with the extra bolts and washers that attach the seat stay. Where can I find these few extra pieces for sale?
Hey Vini! Let's get you in touch with our Product Support team, they can give you more details. You can reach them at - (800) 939-0310 ext. 2, or email at - radpowerbikes.com/support.
Same issue here! My new RadCity 5 Plus has threaded holes for this but no included bolts and washers.
If anyone try to steal, they can just remove the lock?
20secundes
Will this fit a 4" fat tyre ebike?
Does it fit in 3 inch bikes?
What's the difference between S, SL, X, XL, L, etc... versions?
I haven't seen any that looks like it would reach on my Juiced CrossCurrent:(
Good value for the money
I couldn’t find this on your website product description, but I assume this comes with *two* keys? To get a third and fourth key, do I need to contact the company?
And if I want to match the wheel lock keys with another Abus lock I buy from you (the Abus Bordo) is this possible through you or do I also need to contact Abus? ty
Hi Yowzoe! Our Customer Experience team can look into this for you. They can be reached at (800) 939-0310 ext. 1 or at radpowerbikes.com/support, and they'll take care of you!
Any plans for offering one of these for the RadMini4 (in Europe)?
Hi Taun! There are no current plans to offer a wheel look for the RadMini 4 in the near future. Due to the fat tires, traditional wheel locks are not compatible.
@@RadPowerElectricBikes Thanks for the reply.
I’m being told the 5650L isn’t available in the US and that the 5750 L is the same dimensions and available here? I’m confused.
Hey Bob! The ABUS Wheel Lock 5650L NR is temporarily out of stock in the US. Feel free to sign up for the out of stock notifications so you're in the loop when they return!
Tried fitting it on my Avanti city metro 1 - I can only fit it on one mounting hold through. Any solutions for this?
Hi Xiao! We have only tested the ABUS Shield 5650L NR Wheel Lock on our ebike lineup. We recommend reaching out to your local bike shop.
Does this fit Fat Tire bikes?
Hi Nelson, thanks for your question! This lock is compatible with the RadCity 4, RadCity Step-Thru 3, and RadMission 1. Check out our website to see more locks that are compatible with our other bikes!
no :(
Can you put this on a mountain bike?
Hey James! The ABUS Wheel Lock 5650L NR is compatible with our bike models RadCity and RadMission, which have a tire size of 27.5" x 2.0" and 27.5 x 1.95". You can find more details here: www.radpowerbikes.com/products/abus-wheel-lock-5650l-nr?_pos=3&_sid=387020367&_ss=r
Can you use this with the standard rad runner?
The ABUS wheel lock is not compatible with the RadRunner 1 due to the tire size.
My bike did not come with those nuts and washers installed and the lock did not come with the hardware either.
Hey there, we're so sorry to hear this. Our Product Support team can get the appropriate hardware out to you. Give us a call at (800) 939-0310 ext. 2 or reach out at radpowerbikes.com/support and they'll take care of you.
So anyone 5 years old and up with an allen wrench can remove this? They should come with security bolts. Although i for one have a kit with every security bolt tip there is. It was loke 6 bucks at Tractor Supply.
Even without the bolts it still prevents the rear wheel from turning. Sure, a determined thief can still carry the bike away but it stops the "walk away with it" thefts of opportunity when you're popping into a store or something like that
Unfortunately it won't work on Rad Rover 6 plus.
Is there a model that does work, seems like ABUS should have different models for different tire sizes. I have the mounting screws for the lock
@@RussOniPhone Seems the Abus Amparo 4750 XL R would fit as it specs are (H x W:) 120x89mm but not sure as i can't find any clear overall size information on the Kenda juggernaut tires fitted to the RadRhino 6 Plus. Hope it does, as mine is being sorted together as i type
@@jessevanmierle5752 can you tell me if the abus Amparo 4750 xl r lock fits?
@@tinyjacobsen775 I've got the Radrover 6 plus for about a week and a half now, did a tire measurement of the wheel, the height is about 10cm and the width comes out on 9.5cm which means the 4750XL R won't fit, i haven't found a larger framelock than this one, sadly. I'm currently using an ART 4 certified U-lock on it for now.
Good luck with that
Make one for the rover
Hey hey! Thanks for the enthusiasm! The lock we have that fits the RadRover 5 perfectly is the ABUS Bordo Granit X-Plus 6500.
Not worth to put on thieves can cut this lock in 20secunde
You have to cut it twice in a tricky angle…
I do not understand these locks. If someone tries to steal my bike, they are going to damage my spokes. The lock should grip the tire itself, as if it was a brake.
What happens when thieves are willing to cut a few spokes? 😮
It would be hard to sell the bike with kocked lock
They’d have to cut all the spokes, then the rim would fall off. I suspect that would be somewhat sub-optimal if one's attempting to steal a bike.
I'm guessing this isn't universal? Lol
Hey Quantrell! This lock is compatible with the RadCity 5 Plus, RadCity 5 Plus Step-Thru, RadCity 4, , RadCity Step-Thru 3 and RadMission 1. Check out our website to see more locks that are compatible with our other bikes!
