    Thanks to Viktor ( ruclips.net/channel/UC7YMqAMuiyr4NFc2PiHHUHw ) I could have a play on this bicycle lock for immobilizing the rear wheel. It's a 8 wafer tumbler with 4 wafers on each side. While picking the lock with a hook is fun due to the continues turn on the plug, using a specialized wafer rake is much faster. This GOZO rake is designed for raking two-sided wafer locks and the effectiveness is amazing. It openes the lock in seconds without requiring any skills.

    Lost my girlfriend's bike key the other day.
    Bought a lock picking set... Opened it in seconds with the two sided rake. Didn't think I would have much luck! haha
    Going to buy a lock to practice on now :)
    Thanks for the video! Saved me.

      It’s a very common lock on almost every bike here in The Netherlands! In many cases combined with a chain- or cable lock.

    Would a bolt cutter be able to penetrate through a ring lock? Or is it too thick? Seems easier than trying to picklock it at least for me!

    • @cuntontheweb2657
      @cuntontheweb2657 Год назад +1

      Too thick and too hard, the bolt cutter just slides off.

    • @wolfie7382
      @wolfie7382 Год назад

      Yeah, maybe a year late but power tools work good on these to grind away both sides of the metal slider so it falls out, also filing the metal down works eventually, if you have the time/patience

    • @JesusChrist-sx1lf
      @JesusChrist-sx1lf Год назад +1

      @@wolfie7382 Thanks! I went with power tools in the end and grinded the metal slider, it worked out well.

      I managed to cut off this type of lock using a bolt cutter (and a plier because I couldn't reach certain spots with the bolt cutter). In the lock I encountered (an Abus lock), the upper part of the lock has a major weakness, which is there is no steel under it. Just metal and a spring, which I cut through with a bolt cutter fairly easy. The metal piece with the 4 holes I couldn't reach with the bolt cutter, so I had to use a plier to pull some pieces off. But I managed to get this lock off from my mom's bike that way.

    I cant seem to pick my bicycle lock as the wafers cant be pushed in when tension is applied to turn the lock

    here in the states they have bike share bikes that have a rear wheel lock. how they work is either by code or by qr code scan and you pay $1 per 30 minutes or i think 1 hour forget which off hand. once the time is up the bike auto lock. the bikes also warn u that if you dont pay they will call the police dont know how true that is but they say it well a voice on the bikes do. ha

    • @Potti314
      @Potti314  6 лет назад

      Interesting, we also have these kind of rent-bikes here in Germany with a similar locking mechanism (electronically controlled). Wonder if it automatically locks up the bike while you're riding it when time has expired ;-)

      There are not uncommon here in Germany and Viktor actually bought it for his own bike but the didn't like the key-retaining feature. So this is a recently manufactured lock.

      Но мне кажется , исходя из этого эксперимента, любую цепь можно открыть отмычками. И не важно насколько она ( цепь)прочная.

  • @maaikw7645
    @maaikw7645 5 месяцев назад

    I am a beginner and have tried this with the same pick but I did not have such a thick tensioner. It did not open, although in the end it worked with another pick, but it took quite a while. The lock is similar but another brand. I don't know where I go wrong because everywhere you hear raking is so easy and requires no skill.
    I was wondering how much influence the tensioner has and if it matters where you put it and how deep it is sticking into the lock. Usually there is not a lot of explanation on the tensioning.

    • @Potti314
      @Potti314  5 месяцев назад

      There are multiple factors that influence how easy it is to pick or rake open locks. All can be different at your lock.
      The bitting. If you have deep cutouts next to shallow cuts on the key, then picking and particularly raking becomes more difficult.
      The precision. Slopy locks pick and rake open easier. The wide tolerances require less precise tension and pin/wafer manipulation.
      Keyway. More restricted keyways are more difficult to navigate the tool inside. The shape of the keyway also determines how flawless tensioning can be performed. You strife for a good fit for proper control over plug tensioning without interfering with the first wafer. Particularly raking can suffer from a unintended bound first wafer as you do not really sense the wafers.
      I recommend that you play around with the lock. Inspect the bitting. Single pin pick it and try to feel and imagine what's going on inside. Also play with tensioning strength. On common mistake is too much torque. Result is overset pins without the chance for them to reset. Lighten up the tension every now and then to test for overset wafers. Here proper tensioning possibility is key to control the plug movement precisely.
