“We had no choice”
“Let’s keep moving”
“It’s not our fault”
The man was in denial the whole time trying to explain away his mass graves.
Game really had shit to say.
Imagining Konrad's Lines as Walker's subconscious is very opening.
“You brought this on yourselves”
you were in denial... all of us were we could have just turned off the game...
That's the one part that I don't like, If there were a way to leave Dubai In the game the impact would be harder, because you could have really stopped everything, that "stop playing" doesn't mean a thing@@dominiksulik6156
“The truth Walker is that you’re here because you wanted to feel like something you are not… a hero”
I'm here because you can't accept what you've done. It broke you.
it wasn't even konrad that said that it was walkers head
Walker: "I didn't mean to hurt anybody"
Konrad: "no one ever does walker"
The weird thing is I have PTSD and I remember what Conrad said “don’t be too hard on yourself after all you’ve done you can still go home. Lucky you”
“We were ordered to abandon these people, instead we chose damnnation”
Absolutely love that line, it shows how Konrad wanted to do good and how the 33rd were some what of the good guys
Like a necessary evil
He was dead, he couldn't live with the fact that he failed the evaculation. It was his men who continue his wishes on their own accord even after his passing.
Oh so that's what happened
“Even now… after all you’ve done… you can still go home. Lucky you.”
“Home? We can’t go home. There’s a line men like us have to cross. If we’re lucky we do what’s necessary and then we die.
No Captain, no what I really want, is peace.”
“How did you survive this?”
“Who said I did?”
The wish, the truth and of course, the horror.
Best quotes
'I DIDNT MEAN TO HURT ANYBODY' that line brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it.
"It takes a strong man to deny what's right in front of him."
Spec Ops: The Line is one of the greatest mindf*ck and horridly disturbing storytelling masterpieces I'll ever play. Thanks Zurik23M for the amazing tribute reminding me this unbelievably bizarre level of... Insanity!
Agree with you, my friend.
Thank you!
Agreed
yup (:
*"Do you feel like a hero yet?"*
Well, yes, you saved the world and the empire after all....
"If Lugo were still alive, he would likely suffer from PTSD. So really, he's the lucky one."
Yes
"Whatever happens next don't be too hard on yourself"
This game shows the horror soldiers have to possibly face when they're in command of their own unit. I played this when i was a child and didnt understand anything at first, but that dead mother and child still painted a clear image in my memory to this day... played the game again as a teen and I understood what was going on in this game and I see a masterpiece
"Who said i did" Literally chills. Great edit
" ... _who said I did?_ "
"If you were a better person, _you wouldn't be here._ "
"Welcome to hell, Walker. We've been waiting for you."
" *KILL F#$%ING CONFIRMED.* "
Nolan North deserves more voice acting in the next gen line of games....he's so compelling.
The guy did well. Not just with Nathan Drake, even as Martin Walker.
@@regorn01 As Desmond Miles too

Even after ten years, this game is still brought up in comparison to other games. Goes to show how powerful this game was. Keep bringing up so maybe someday we may get another game similar in term of quality.
No, keep bringing it up to make humanity learn this game´s message! Just wanting "another game" is showing that "killing for entertainment is harmless"...
@@chrisf1604 I finished the game with "WAR AM BAD" told with a nuance way. Or you could go with yours. That is a viable one as well. Maybe just rephrase it as "the consequences of a power fantasy."
I say if there is no other game like this, than that makes the game all the more special
This game came out during the times of modern warfare 2, battlefield 3, halo, a bunch of games which put you in a shoes of murderous psychotic war criminals, and yet suger coated it with fun, run and gun action, and patriotic duty, and badass voice lines.
When Spec Ops the line first was announced, they focused on the enviornment, wow look at the graphics, look at how the sand free flows all around you, amazing physics engine. This was how the game was sold, it was made to look like any other generic shooter.
That's what made it brilliant, the author knew very well that this game wouldn't be a massive hit, and it would draw in a very particular audience, one used to just shooting whatever the hell they see on screen and being called a hero, it was meant to take that fantasy, and show you how twisted such an ideal is in real life, show you the true reality of war, the true reality of 'heroes' who do whatever is neccessary for the mission and how inhumane that philosophy actually is.
A generic 3rd person shooter game focused around violence, was ironically the only game that has ever shown why we should always strive for peace.
Lol, Halo “put you in the shoes of murderous psychotic war criminals”
@@The4j1123 "Alien lives matter"
^ I wouldn't put it past the woke of today
I know man, this game really made me question what I was doing because I was mainly playing M and T games as a kid and loved the violence and thought this game would be cool to kill people in apocalyptic Dubai and man… I had to stop playing video games for a long time after finishing this game because it made me question everything I’ve done in not only that game but the others. 😔💔🖤

spec ops the line is a masterpiece that's overlooked by many, the story telling the choices, the twists, I couldn't believe what type of art I stumbled through when I first played it, it made quite the impression to stick to my heart and stay for a lot long, thanks Zurik for the spectacular edit as always this made my week,

Gameplay is nothing special sadly, but the story is amazing for me.
@@lawsen3719 Do you really think it would be a good idea for a game that tries to hammer down into your skull that WAR IS NO FUN to make gameplay a smooth and FUN experience??? Even if the clunkiness was unintended, in the end it underlined the fundamental message of this game almost perfectly.
But maybe you instinctively did what the game told you right from the very start when you walk by a big STOP sign...this game can only truly be "won" when you do not play it. When you don´t enter Dubai.
@@lawsen3719 Also. Don't censor yourself on youtube comments, makes you look like a joke. It also tells everybody you're a filthy goody-two shoes who reports people who cuss.
Hi guys! I recently came to Spec ops the line at the "certain death" difficulty level and now at least I would like to master the latter. However, it is closed. Who knows what the reason might be?
This game may be rough around the edges on technical levels, but holy shit it is amazing in telling a story, to me this in the holy pantheon of legendary video game stories alongside Metal Gear Solid 3, Silent Hill 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Still the only game to have the guts to not glorify war and killing in the name of your nation, almost 10 years and nothing came of close of telling this type of story again, and I think there will never be another game with enough guts to do so.
"To kill for yourself is murder. To kill for your government is heroic. To kill for entertainment is harmless"
OH MY GOOOOOD I CANT BELIEVE YOU DID A TRIBUTE FOR MY FAVOURITE GAME FOR ALL TIMES!!! THAT IS AMAZING BROTHER !!!
Thank you so much!
"How did you survive all this?"
"Who said I did..."
That line has stuck with me ever since I first completed the game
This games was misunderstood by so many. Its was a masterpiece
And it was understood by our generation right now
Such an underrated game! I still remember those emotions after phosphorus attack and ending scene! Truly a great story masterpiece!
Gentlemen, welcome to Dubai!
I remember playing this by being curious, thinking "Oh cool another call of duty type game!!" bro little did many of us know this game was going to take you to that place many soldiers go to in times of war, you start it as you before playing this game and beat it as a whole new person. I cried quietly late at night during the credits, just shook man, to this day i have to admit no other game has gave me an experience quite like Spec Ops: The Line. Thank you for this video, it means the world to me!!
"None of this would have happened if you just stopped."
This is one of those games I remember playing as a kid that had a lasting impact on me and gave me chills down my spine. This wasn't a war game where your a glorified killing machine, no your a murder with consequences to the actions you make watching your sanity slowly crack into madness. They don't make em like they used too I actually saw this game on sale about 6 months ago and replayed the whole thing because it's such a beautiful masterpiece thats is a must play for any gamer rock on Zurik! Thank you and god bless
"there was no choice"
"there is always a choice"
what a line
walker crossed it no doubts
I clinged on to this quote all these years , when people told me “I didn’t have any other choice” , I said there is always a choice , then they would agree . Which solidifies the statement . You always have a choice .
Lol, no you don't. At numerous parts in the game your choices are shown to be irrelevant, or forced. The white phosphorous part in particular is a highlight of bad game design in a game like this, since it tries to show you the "consequences of your actions", while ignoring the theme of "choice". You quite literally can do nothing to avoid it. The game forces you into it, then calls you a bad person for doing it, and then pretends like you had a choice at the end. The game's a f**king joke.
@@bud389 lol Your choice was you stop playing, literally the whole Game was encoring You to stop playing Even before the white phosphorus scene, after it, the Game mocking and insulting the player For keep playing.
"Non of this would had happen if You just stop"
@@blackfangex6813 and also something else the guy missed is that in the start of the game the first chapter literally there is a giant stop sign before you enter dubai
We chose to keep going the game warned us but we did not listen
If this was a film or a series it would make millions, but since it is a game from an underated developer it gets criminally overlooked. In the 7-8 hour story i felt more emotions than most films/series have ever made me feel. A true masterpiece.
The truth Walker is that you’re here because you wanted to feel something you are not…. a hero and the sorrowful look on the dead soldier, upon the aftermath of white phosphorus, wincing in a broken yet heart rending tone “ Why, we we were helping you’’ . This game is not just a game in its self. It’s an experience not to be missed by any person who has been playing military FPSs for long. This game blows COD out of the park when it comes to real life emotions melded with tough rugged military combat. This is the game that should be played and props to me having revisited this game after playing it 10 years ago. Thanks Zurik. 😊
Nolan North rules! What a performance.
Best anti-callofduty ever.
"America good, Russia bad"
"America good, their traitors are bad!1!1
Wait are they helping civilians-"
"The truth is, you were never meant to come here"
Is a major truth
Walkers' orders where to get past the stormwall and assess the situation. It was never to actually enter Dubai, it was to call in the U.S military so they could take care of the rest from there. We only went along with Walker
"None of this would've happened if you'd just stopped."
If we never stepped foot in Dubai and just stopped playing, that'd have been us doing what we were supposed to and following our orders
They really need to bring this back, remaster it would be great, or maybe a movie. But this deserves more recognition.
Well we have apocalypse now so we don't need a movie a remaster yes
By the way, we noticed that each of the characters in the game will definitely look directly at the screen (the look is directed at the player). It sometimes seemed to me that the finished dialogue with Conrad was directed not at Walker, but at the player himself.
Little things. Konrad’s gun is pointed over Walker’s shoulder.
At you.
Yes, its mean if you let konrad shoot , you are accepted your responsibility as a player who control walker and didnt blame it on him, just like he blame everything on konrad. As the opposite of it, if you choose walker to kill himself, it mean you cast everything to blame on walker, just the same way walker did on konrad.
Playing this masterpiece during the heated days of Summer 2012 ?
Unforgettable, considering the game is set in a desert environment, the good old times
This game is 10 years old next month and is still the goat
Wow. I didn't think I'd hear Spec Ops: The Line again. One of the best games I've ever played. Thanks for taking me down memory lane again.
God I remember picking this game up back when it first dropped, I was convinced it was just gonna be ANOTHER military shooter that more or less is summed up with "Murica fuck yeah!" kinda mentality of glorifying the military like a lotta military fps games did.
But boy was I in for a gut check, game still to this day was one of my favorite 3rd person shooters and haunts me with how devastatingly brutal the story was and great revelation at the end that all of it was in your characters head, all his justifications for doing what he did that led him down the story path were just his wayof coping with it all.
Amazing game.. I recently spoke about it in two of my classes.
Thank's for the tribute, amazing work !
Thank you!
Good people get killed when you try to play hero
This video gave me an overwhelming sensation that is hard to describe, elation and sadness that I got to enjoy games like this but that they probably won't be seen again for a long time.
Zurik your content and tributes are incredible, you and Jesse JR are some of the most amazing artists when it comes to the editing and music and it takes a real knowledge of the nuance of these tributes to make them so emotional and powerful. Another astounding job, much love
Thank you so much!!
We need more games like this
I think spec ops the line is one of the few games that stops you and asks you what you have done. The game is a "Do you wish to continue?" without flat-out asking it.
After playing this game I never played or looked at a shooter game the same way again
Same, it just feels like what I'm doing is wrong and that I'm doing what Walker did..
The loading screen tells it best. If you were a better person, you wouldn't be here.
I will put Spec Ops The Line with games like Manhunt, Bioshock & Silent Hill. This game is a psychological rollercoaster ride.
2K is so underrated when it comes to storytelling.
A New Masterpiece
One of the best game i've ever play
"Who said I did" Walker died at the start.
People say that this game cannot have a sequel. But when you think about it, psychological horror war-FPS like Spec Ops the line could be interesting.
Think about a game like this one. It starts as regular FPS, but thing start being off.
Then you find out you play as a wounded soldier who is in a coma, reliving your missions amd decisions.
Unlike the Spec Ops, we would see the personal life of the protagonist, he has close ones, family...
At the end of the game you get a choice.
Wake up and live with the things you have done for your close ones...
Or give up.
I remember finishing this on the xbox 360 on my big box tv. I just sat there as walker poimted the gun at himself. I dont know if i gukly understood this story at the time but im glad i experienced it
Didn't expect to see your edit about one of my favorite games ever!
It's Konrad. He did it. All of it.
3:00 onward is pure perfection. Hits like a freight train. Excellent edit.
I really really REALLY hope this game someday regains the spotlight, I'd LOVE to see more vtubers play this.
Vtubers? Nah no thanks
Probably my favorite tribute for a game. Perfect music choice, dialouge and scene selection, and most importantly editing
such an underrated game. at the time i dont think there was another shooter where you have gunfights in sandstorms
"You need to see what you have done"
I honestly couldn't bear to see it again
"It takes a strong me to deny what's in front of him if the truths undeniable your create your own" John Konrad
This video send shivers down my spine. The voice acting in this game is just amazing, and you emphasized the struggle, the pain and the suffering with this video. Very well done.
I keep coming back to this. It’s just so well done.
This edit and some other stuff made me play this. Thank you for making me buy this. I will always be grateful for your work.
Incredible video for an incredible game. I just played it for the first time a few days ago and was amazed by it. The world needs more games like this. Thanks for the video!
It was a masterpiece of story telling i loved it and i cried through it i still remember my choices i still remember every detail and i can't find a game to give the same love i gave for that game ❤️❤️
The most comprehensive synopsis trailer of the game I've seen.

SPEC OPS THE LINE Is one Of The Games That A Message To The World That "No One Can Be A Hero" And Amazing Thing Is That The Sandstorm 🌪Captain Martin Walker Is A Hero or Villain But He Want To the rescue civilians And Become Anti-Hero
Anti-Villain.
@@riiddisbuk2496 In literature the term anti villain is not existent. In literature anti-hero is the same as villain.
A sadly under rated game
Walker didn't deserve to became a villain I wish there was another option. this is too sad. this is not a lie
What a masterpiece. Definitely one of my favourite story's in a game up there with hotline miami. I remember when I got to the end I immediately pulled the trigger on myself. Didn't think Walker did wrong but he had sinned and needed to atone for them. Seems I missed out on a nice secret ending. Ah well guess I have to play the game again. What a shame.
Ну ты конечно поработал так поработал. У меня мурашки от этого видео с самого начала пошли, слишком отзывается сейчас! Боль просто.

An underrated masterpiece with an underrated tribute. Props to you :)
God yes! I have been waiting for this edit for soooo long, and it's wonderful! Amazing work!
I didn’t move for 5 minutes.
One of most traumatizing games of all time
this game gave me the interest of having very morally flawed protagonists, I wish we had more stories like Spec Ops, just the general idea of starting as the hero and becoming the villain is a (as of now) interesting niche story idea I'm interested in.
Im so happy you both witnessed the masterpiece of a modern-day hero complex, and made a video on this game. Most bad games arent worth slogging through, but this one was. Knowing the true story made all the bullshit feel paid off.
Theres many reasons this game doesnt deserve the loght of day in media, but im glad an editor like you did, to help get someone interested into playing the game on the easiest difficulty to experience the story
This hits too hard
really underrated game. If u like the genre and didnt played it yet, do it trust me u wont regret it. its a masterpiece
im replaying it for the 6th time, first time in many years and i finally start to understand this game :D this will probably be forever in my heart as the best war shooter. take notes call of duty, thats how u make war game - so people talk about it 10 years later and some still try to understand what it was about
Легендарная игра, и одно из самых уникальных произведений в историй
Perfect tribute!
Until you include the twist I thought it was a commercial. Take out 30 seconds, go back in time, and you could have been responsible for millions more in sales of the best FPS story ever.
Thank you for taking the time to put this together for a game that is criminally under recognized, and doesn't get into enough gamers hands.
Holy shit dude, I love this game. I've watched so many videos on it, analyses, reviews, cutscenes. It's a literal dream come true to see you do a tribute. I haven't even hit play yet. I'm sure it's gonna be sick.
Martin Walker el angel de la muerte.
This is a great tribute for a great game. This game is probably one of my favorites, and I won't hesitate to call its story a masterpiece.
Zurik, your edits constantly move me and fill me with the exact emotions you’re trying to portray! I’ve used your edits to introduce myself into different TV shows and movies. Now, I’m excited to be able to try out a new game thanks to your edit!
Amazing content as usual and I’m oh so excited for the next one! 🙌🏻🔥
Thank you so much for such kind words!!
This game was one of first real ass games that I've experienced. English is not my native language so until I reach like 12-13, gaming was not about stories or characters for me. Like there was GTA which is nothing but "shoot-steal-drive" for me back then and some other games too. But this game... As it being one of the first games I've played while also understanding the story and characters, was something otherworldly. Thank you Zurik, again and again. Thank you.
I expect only the best from Zurik & never let down.
Great talent💥💥💥💥💥
Thank you!!

I like how after walker shoots conrad conrad starts saying all the things walker would want to hear
Masterpiece of a game and a tribute video. Both deserve so much more attention.
This psychological horror was both brilliant and insane, I appreciated how it refused to pull any punches. I really hope someone will develop a worthy successor to this game as it spreads a good message about horrid truth behind military operations.
Hell! I think that if a game like this were to become popular more people would unite to boycott the shit NATO does in other countries.
Best tribute ever !! You deserve a medal, great job 👍👏
Wow Zurik! This is so beautiful! It's amazing to see an edit on Spec Ops: The Line. You're killing it lately with your edits on videogames, which i love it!
Thank you so much, my brother!
Well done! I've heard about this game and now I think I'll finally end up playing it.
This was the second game that maked me really wish to end it fast, no matter what the actual fuck happened before or what happens next, just reach the end and leave because i've reached too far in every single sense to leave it there.
And the fact that you didn't really needed to edit with other effects to make it even more perfect just tells alone how this game treat, teach and talk to us.
At first i thought this one gonna be another arcade "Bravo-69 going pew pew" and save the day. Turns out it wasn't.
It shows the opposite of the common naratives by the media.
It shows what's inside one's mind. And it's fucked up.
In the end, i put Spec Ops on the same list with WaW.
Another masterpiece!
Thank you!
