All I can ask of you is please don’t watch Lord of the Rings at a time when you’re not really focused on it. Obviously don’t put it on when you’re tired (because they’re freaking long), but also there are a lot of strange character names (that often sound similar), and a lot going in the world and I know people who have disliked the films initially just because they’re so overwhelming. Just take them slow because they’re incredible.
Also, I’m saying this with complete bias because I think The Lord of the Rings trilogy is the greatest achievement in the history of cinema.

I really appreciate all the recommendations Karsten! Also, I just wanted to say that I think the content you make is some of the best on RUclips. I’m an aspiring film student, and I really appreciate the work you put into your videos. I love listening to your point of view on films and cinematography and always appreciate that at the end of your videos you say to go out and form your own opinion. Anyways, keep it up; your work is truly amazing.

I really enjoy South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, since December I’ve seen it like 7 times. I’m still not sure if I prefer the SpongeBob Movie though 🤨

    • @insertusername7431
      @insertusername7431 4 года назад

Sebastian Kemink honestly, before watching the movie I hadn’t seen an episode of South Park, so you really don’t need much or any prior knowledge to still enjoy it. And to answer your question, the film is just so much fun in my opinion, from the jokes to the characters and even the songs (this film is musical, but parodies then at the same time). I think you do need a specific sense of humour, the jokes and gags are very offensive and edgy, so if you like that stuff I beg you to watch it.
But you also might hate, it is quite polarising.

DEATHSTROKE621 it was amazing, but a 10/10 may be a little bit of a stretch. I loved it so much but there where a couple problems with the soundtrack compared to the actors voices, especially at the club scenes

Any Scandinavian disaster movie. "The Wave" in particular, while having a similar setup to most American disaster movies, I find goes a lot further when it comes to raising stakes. It isn't afraid to kill off characters, and force it's protagonists into real, difficult positions. It's as if the whole movie were about that 5 minute scene in Day After Tomorrow, except they have nowhere to actually escape to. See it on Hulu.
(while we're at it, Quake, from the same production company is also pretty solid) and while we're on Scandinavian movies- is Trollhunter available anywhere?

    Good/Short filmographies to explore:
Wes Anderson (good starter: Fantastic Mr. Fox)
Stanley Kubrick (good starter: The Shining)
Charlie Chaplin (good starter: The Kid (1921)
Andrei Tarskovsky (watch Mirror last, it's very autobiographical)
Don Hertzfeldt (good starter: Everything Will Be OK)
Orson Welles (good starter: Citizen Kane)
Gaspar Noe (good starter: Enter the Void/ Climax)
Quentin Tarantino (good starter: Reservoir Dogs)

That tip of binging a Directors work is a good idea. I was planning on watching Nolan's films before TeneT came out but I dont have access to all of them so I think the 2nd best thing is probably Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story, Meyerowitz Stories, The Squid and the Whale, Frances Ha, Kicking and Screaming, While We're Young ALL on Netflix)
