  • A glycosidic bond, also known as glycosidic linkage, is a type of covalent bond that joins a carbohydrate (sugar) molecule to another group, which may or may not be another carbohydrate. In this video, we will learn what a glycosidic bond is and how it is formed.

    So you just remove h2O to make it a glycosidic bond???

    • @JoaosLab
      @JoaosLab  5 месяцев назад +1

      In the context of carbohydrate chemistry, specifically when forming a glycosidic bond between two sugar molecules (such as in the synthesis of disaccharides), yes, the process generally involves the removal of a molecule of water (H2O). This reaction is a type of condensation reaction. Note, however, that not all reactions where there is the loss of H2O we end up with a glycosidic bond.

    whats the diffrence between a C-glycoside and a O-glycoside?

    • @JoaosLab
      @JoaosLab  Год назад +1

      The main difference between C-glycosides and O-glycosides lies in the nature of the bond between the sugar and the aglycone: C-glycosides have a carbon-carbon bond, while O-glycosides have a carbon-oxygen bond.
