The bottom 4 of your list of top paid goaltenders is a great indication of what Swayman should expect. A 4 to 6 year deal for about 6 million a year. After that and he is the goalie we all hope he is then he can get his big payday just like the top of your list. He has not earned more than 6 to 7 million a year yet. I don't know who is stalling the discussions exactly. Perhaps Swayman would be happy with 6 mil a year for 6 years and Sweeney and co. are not willing to sign him for that long or that much or both. My intuition tells me that it's Swayman and his "hard-ass" agent who are holding a deal up.
I'd strongly agree. He wouldn't fetch it, he's not that valuable. I think the very best we'd get is a 1b goalie and a 1st and I'd gladly take it. Good teams have proven that a marquee high paid goalie is not necessary.
What good is a 1B goaltender. This team's window is closing, Marchand, McCauley, etc. first round pick does not help right now. If you trade him to a team who needs a top goalie to contend, you get a first rounder in the 20's

He’s not even an URFA. And not a true tested starter who can carry a team 50-60 games. I like him. However whatever move on with out him. The Bruins Defense always makes any Goalie preform better than they really are. Go with someone else they will be fine

In my opinion, if swayman (and his greedy agent, same as W.Nylander) don't lower their demand or accept a bridge, then Sweeney will have to go with the last option, which is to trade Swayman. Now, if we analyze the situation closely, we see that there would be only a few clubs that could be able (and interested) to acquire Swayman : - Anaheim ... Swayman for Gibson + one of their good young wingers. The Ducks have the money to sign Swayman long term. And I don't think Gibson will stay with Anaheim for much longer. - Columbus ... Swayman + a forward (Beecher?) for Merzlikins + a forward like Marchenko. Columbus would maybe have to pay a portion of Merzlikins' salary. - Colorado ... Swayman for Georgiev + a "respectable" forward + let's say a 2nd pick in the draft. However, there might be a problem related to the salary cap. - SanJose already has its young goalie of the future (Askarov). - Calgary has few players to offer other than Kuzmenko. In short, a trade with Columbus wouldn't be so bad! Merzlikins would be a better goalie with a nice B's defensive unity in front of him.
