Gene, my mom is 83 and had both knees and a hip done. Her hip was done when she was 80. Her only regret was not getting it done sooner, and putting herself through years of avoidable, crippling pain. You have a great support system on the farm and plenty of family to help out with the animals while you heal. It will be a blessing to see you walking without a cane and all pain gone. 💖🙏💖

Had my knee replaced 10 years ago, best thing I ever did! Was up walking with a cane and doing my regular activities in 3 days with no pain. I was 65 at the time. Do it!

Good afternoon PawPaw. My husband had knee replacement surgery this past January. Prior to the operation, he could barely walk or stand up straight. The operation was done robotically. The surgeon also straightened my husband's leg. The surgery took three hours. The surgeon told me my husband's knee was a mess. Now, my husband is a new man. I can't keep up with him!

I get around without pain limping and stiffness! For you it’s a lot more to think about with the farm and you’ll need your family to really help and chop in. When the time comes I will gladly get the other knee done too. It has made such a difference in my life! And I'm 67 yrs old.
I’ve been working in surgery for 27 years. Especially with orthopedic surgeries. I believe you can positively benefit from knee replacement. My mother-in-law was in her 80’s when she had her knees done as well as her hips. The surgery will be so worth it. Just a little advice; FOLLOW THROUGH WITH YOUR THERAPY. Don’t stop until they say you’re done. I know people will say getting shots and using other things work and they probably do, but they are just putting a band-aid on. It’s just a temporary fix.

Pawpaw I just had a knee replacement 8 weeks ago. I’m so glad I did. I’m not gonna lie it’s quite painful the first 2-3 weeks. The pain pills are your friend. Therapy is so very important! I do disagree with your Doc about therapy. They do things for you you’ll never replicate on the farm. Therapy is so very vital for a good recovery. 2 x a week is fine and then do those exercises at home everyday. I’m doing awesome! I’ve been diligent with therapy. I’m so very glad the type of pain I had before surgery is gone. Now it’s just retraining my muscles and tendons to be normal. ❤

Hi Pawpaw, I think it’s great that you feel comfortable with your surgeon. If you do decide to have the replacement, build up your thigh muscle by doing exercises several times a day. Do not skip these or your outcome won’t be as good. I think we would all love to see you dancing around camp Heidi in the near future pain free!

Good morning Pawpaw,Gigi, Woody, Kippy,Buster and all fur babies, It’s your decision on what to do. I’m glad I had mine done at same time , in hospital 4 days, walked same day with help. Went to rehab for 5 weeks and home. Did great. I had bone on bone in both knees. Put off until Medicare took effect. Tri care paid for everything. Hope the shots last longer. I’ll be praying for you and Gigi . Lester too. It’s 50 degree here at Murray,Kentucky. Feels good. Lester is scared about his procedure. Aww paw paw. You will be a new man! I’m 71 I spent years in agony with my knee and both hips ! I had the knee replacement first then I had to hips replaced , it was the best thing I ever did, I can now walk without pain ! It’s joyous! Good morning! I know you didn’t want to hear what the doctor told you about your knee. But you really need to think about all the things you enjoy doing. Those things will get less and less if you can’t get around. I’ve known several people that have had knee replacements and swear that it is well worth it. I’m praying that you make the right decision. It’s your decision to make. God helps those that help themselves.
I’ve had 2 knee replacements and I’m happy I had them done. I’m not in any pain and I walk like when I was in my 30s. No one wants to limp around and be in pain. Cortisone injections just last so long and then they don’t work any longer.
IHi PawPaw, I'm 67 years old and had my knee scoped twice before I was 35. That was a breeze. Then at 40 I was told I needed a knee replacement. At the time I worked in a factory 8-12 hours a day, standing on concrete all day. The surgeon said if I didn't have the surgery, I wouldn't be able to stand let a lone walk in a years time. I did the shots in my knees several times. They worked for a while, then they didn't. However, I'm a stubborn person and proved him wrong. Then I had a career change and became a nurse. After many more years I finally had to give in and have my right knee replaced 4 years ago, due to hardly being able to stand, walk and the unbearable pain. I have an extremely high tolerance for pain but the pain was more than I could deal with. My surgeon said my knee was so bad I shouldn't have been able to stand on it, walk on it, or deal with the pain. He didn't understand why I kept putting off surgery. I explained my fears of infection and why. He understood my fears. I did have the replacement surgery and I can honestly say I don't regret getting it done. However, I still have a fear of infection but I know it was the best thing for me to do; so much so I had my left knee replaced 2 years ago. Pawpaw do what's right for you. You'll know when you can't physically and mentally deal with the pain. Everyone is different and has different tolerance levels. Good Luck!!!😊❤
One of my clients had one done. She said No to the other knee getting the other done. Now she is 89 years and can hardly move. It will not support her for anything. Now she is to old to move and lives in pain every day. So please dont wait! Everyone is different. Today surgery is "Nothing" like it was in the old days!!!❤
Hi sweet man I was a caregiver over 25 years so many knee surgery clients only one bad experience man got an infection in both his knees so I had to move him with no knee caps !! That was so disturbing 😢 but it was his fault he was an alcoholic didn’t listen to his dr ! I’ve had many clients over 80 years old knee sure gave them at least 20 years of mobility back it’s truly wonderful to see❤

Get surgeon to write order for Physical Therapist to WRAP knees with Kinesiology Tape. They will teach you how to wrap your knees as well so you will only have to go once. Whether you have surgery or not, this kinesiology tape will take away so much pain while you’re making your decision. And it might help enough that you can NOT do surgery. Luv U PawPaw ❤.

Not criticizing - just sweetly jealous. The Morrow parents, kids and grandparents have been blessed yo have you and especially GiGi there to watch and take care of all the munchkins who have and are growing up on the farm. You all are such close knit family. My family has always been spread out all over the U.S.A. that there has never been any closeness. My parents door was always open to anyone who stopped by. Sharing your lives with me makes me feel like one of the family. I don't feel so lonely for i am disabled and now live alone. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’ve had both knees and a hip, the recovery wasn’t easy but so worth it but I had a terrible allergic reaction to the surgery and need a monthly biologic shot to keep the hives and anaphylaxis away. I had 30 horses to care for at the time so it was extremely difficult to give control over to my help but they survived and so did I!I now need my next hip done I can barely walk but like you my side by side is my best friend, I wish I could get it done.
I think y.our dr is very level headed & has common sense. I like that he isn't trying to scare you with have surgery or else. He just laid out your options & is letting you decide when you are ready. Prayers for whatever you decide that it goes right for you.

Had my right knee replaced a year ago and the left one in 11 days from now. Huge difference, put it off for three years with shots until they didn’t work anymore. Best thing I have done, I am 71 and still working full time. You will know when it’s time. The pain will tell you.
These surgeons always make a total knee replacement sound easy! It's the rehabilitation / healing which is different for each one! Gigi did well so hopefully yours will be better! Good PT is the key after surgery too! My PT has 2 Golden retrievers who work in the office! Which is fun to go! Love to all of families! Love to watch your goats and Ivan/Miracle!

That's the same knee brace I had years ago when I tore my meniscus disc in my knee. It worked great on me, let Kim see it cause that's the one she should have. Yeah, the shots are a temporary fix but you'll make the right decision for yourself.

Pops, my father in law had both knees replaced and he wished he had done it earlier. Amazing thing is..his back pain went away too! He was a new man at 77!
I injured my right knee when I was 27, after 4 knee surgeries. I was told the next would be a replacement since it was bone on bone. So, 12 years ago (@ age 59), I had it replaced, and it was the best thing I'd done. Instantly, there was NO pain or burning in the joint. The only pain was from the incision and during PT. Pawpaw, just imagine how nice it will be to be able to walk without a cane or no joint pain. ❤
Your doctor seems like a good man to allow you time to think about things. It's not an easy surgery, but if you decide to get it done, know the discomfort is only temporary. My sister had both knees done and is glad she did. I have bone on bone too, and like you, I need time to process it and prefer the less invasive treatment for the time being. I just got through neck surgery with rods, so I will tackle one thing at a time😊. Thanks for the ride along. It's always nice to see your back pasture and all your fur babies❤
My parents weren't the most loving and patient of grandparents. If you didn't round up what little toys they had for them to play with while there and polish off any little fingerprints off their furniture they would complain about what a mess you left their house in. I got where I didn't take them to visit with them. Then they complained about that. They didn't recognize their birthdays or holidays yet you didn't hear the end of it if we didn't recognize theirs. No idea why they stayed so angry and bitter. It was really sad how much love they missed out on from these precious little ones.

I had therapy at home for two weeks then therapy off site for two weeks. I was 70 years old then. I am 74 now. I am doing great now. The the left knee is next but ok now. You are so right. We have patients do physical therapy prior to surgery for months anf never regret it.

Went to rehab for 5 weeks and home. Did great. I had bone on bone in both knees. Put off until Medicare took effect. Tri care paid for everything. Hope the shots last longer. I’ll be praying for you and Gigi . Lester too. It’s 50 degree here at Murray,Kentucky. Feels good. Lester is scared about his procedure. Aww paw paw. You will be a new man! I’m 71 I spent years in agony with my knee and both hips ! I had the knee replacement first then I had to hips replaced , it was the best thing I ever did, I can now walk without pain ! It’s joyous! Please consider it, you have family that will support you . 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Gigi is such a lady, she has faith that unbreakable, a hard worker she not only raised her kids but she had a hand in raising the grand and the great Grandkids. My first one ...they found and removed several polyps ..next time only a couple ..last one was several years ago ..all clear ..I m due another ..prep is the worst ..

Good morning! I know you didn’t want to hear what the doctor told you about your knee. But you really need to think about all the things you enjoy doing. Those things will get less and less if you can’t get around. I’ve known several people that have had knee replacements and swear that it is well worth it. I’m praying that you make the right decision. It’s your decision to make. God helps those that help themselves.
I’ve had 2 knee replacements and I’m happy I had them done. I’m not in any pain and I walk like when I was in my 30s. No one wants to limp around and be in pain. Cortisone injections just last so long and then they don’t work any longer.
IHi PawPaw, I'm 67 years old and had my knee scoped twice before I was 35. That was a breeze. Then at 40 I was told I needed a knee replacement. At the time I worked in a factory 8-12 hours a day, standing on concrete all day. The surgeon said if I didn't have the surgery, I wouldn't be able to stand let a lone walk in a years time. I did the shots in my knees several times. They worked for a while, then they didn't. However, I'm a stubborn person and proved him wrong. Then I had a career change and became a nurse. After many more years I finally had to give in and have my right knee replaced 4 years ago, due to hardly being able to stand, walk and the unbearable pain. I have an extremely high tolerance for pain but the pain was more than I could deal with. My surgeon said my knee was so bad I shouldn't have been able to stand on it, walk on it, or deal with the pain. He didn't understand why I kept putting off surgery. I explained my fears of infection and why. He understood my fears. I did have the replacement surgery and I can honestly say I don't regret getting it done. However, I still have a fear of infection but I know it was the best thing for me to do; so much so I had my left knee replaced 2 years ago.
Pawpaw do what's right for you. You'll know when you can't physically and mentally deal with the pain. Everyone is different and has different tolerance levels. Good Luck!!!😊❤
One of my clients had one done. She said No to the other knee getting the other done. Now she is 89 years and can hardly move. It will not support her for anything. Now she is to old to move and lives in pain every day. So please dont wait! Everyone is different. Today surgery is "Nothing" like it was in the old days!!!❤
Hi sweet man I was a caregiver over 25 years so many knee surgery clients only one bad experience man got an infection in both his knees so I had to move him with no knee caps !! That was so disturbing 😢 but it was his fault he was an alcoholic didn’t listen to his dr ! I’ve had many clients over 80 years old knee sure gave them at least 20 years of mobility back it’s truly wonderful to see❤
Pawpaw please keep people in western North Carolina in your prayers. They are seeing the storm that Are the worst in history. Asheville is a big town and it is being talked about on TV in the news. The little towns and the people in the mountains are not being talked about and they are the worst in needs. They are delivering food, water, and supplies in the mountains

I've had both of mine done and the relief of not having so much pain everyday is amazing. I will say, the worst part is the therapy. It will be so rewarding in the end. It's your decision. I literally feel your pain. My right knee is bone on bone, and left knee is not far behind. I'm 64 with asthma and fluffy.

Get surgeon to write order for Physical Therapist to WRAP knees with Kinesiology Tape. They will teach you how to wrap your knees as well so you will only have to go once. Whether you have surgery or not, this kinesiology tape will take away so much pain while you’re making your decision. And it might help enough that you can NOT do surgery. Luv U PawPaw ❤.
Good Thursday morning, Paw Paw. I am so glad that you like your doctor. My sister went to her doctor and had shots in her knees once per week for 3 weeks. This will help her pain for 6 months. Then she is having knee surgery. Prayers ✝️ 🙏 for you. ❤

Please consider having your knees done. I've had both of mine done, and it was the best thing I've ever done. Didn't realize how much pain I was living with until it was gone.

Not criticizing - just sweetly jealous. The Morrow parents, kids and grandparents have been blessed yo have you and especially GiGi there to watch and take care of all the munchkins who have and are growing up on the farm. You all are such close knit family. My family has always been spread out all over the U.S.A. that there has never been any closeness. My parents door was always open to anyone who stopped by.
Sharing your lives with me makes me feel like one of the family. I don't feel so lonely for i am disabled and now live alone. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’ve had both knees and a hip, the recovery wasn’t easy but so worth it but I had a terrible allergic reaction to the surgery and need a monthly biologic shot to keep the hives and anaphylaxis away. I had 30 horses to care for at the time so it was extremely difficult to give control over to my help but they survived and so did I!I now need my next hip done I can barely walk but like you my side by side is my best friend, I wish I could get it done.
I think y.our dr is very level headed & has common sense. I like that he isn't trying to scare you with have surgery or else. He just laid out your options & is letting you decide when you are ready. Prayers for whatever you decide that it goes right for you.
You will truly feel much better after the replacement. Been there.

Had my right knee replaced a year ago and the left one in 11 days from now. Huge difference, put it off for three years with shots until they didn’t work anymore. Best thing I have done, I am 71 and still working full time. You will know when it’s time. The pain will tell you.

Maybe the cows heard Koda saying "cow poop alot" and thought they'd oblige knowing you stop at Camp Heidi a lot. 🤣 It sounds like you have a good Doctor that understands where your coming from. Not having to go and do physio, that your daily routine on the farm is enough, is great news. Prayers for Lester that everything turns out good with the colonscopy test. I remember when GiGi had hip surgery and you did a great job with the housework. Sending much ❤ & 🙏 for everyone.
Hey Pawpaw 👋🏾. 😅yeah, the cow's made it to camp at camp heidi before you. They broke it in nicely since the grass has been cut & said "why not"😂. That's the same knee brace I had years ago when I tore my meniscus disc in my knee. It worked great on me, let Kim see it cause that's the one she should have. Yeah, the shots are a temporary fix but you'll make the right decision for yourself.

Hope you find a camper ,that will be awesome,staying overnight and cooking breakfast.Hope Gigi’s op goes well,she is in our prayers.The pastures are looking beautiful,cow poop and all😁. Pops, my father in law had both knees replaced and he wished he had done it earlier. Amazing thing is..his back pain went away too! He was a new man at 77!

I injured my right knee when I was 27, after 4 knee surgeries. I was told the next would be a replacement since it was bone on bone. So, 12 years ago (@ age 59), I had it replaced, and it was the best thing I'd done. Instantly, there was NO pain or burning in the joint. The only pain was from the incision and during PT.
Pawpaw, just imagine how nice it will be to be able to walk without a cane or no joint pain. ❤
I did knee replacements on both knees. Five years apart, I am glad I did them. More flexibility now than I had before.

Your doctor seems like a good man to allow you time to think about things. It's not an easy surgery, but if you decide to get it done, know the discomfort is only temporary. My sister had both knees done and is glad she did. I have bone on bone too, and like you, I need time to process it and prefer the less invasive treatment for the time being. I just got through neck surgery with rods, so I will tackle one thing at a time😊. Thanks for the ride along. It's always nice to see your back pasture and all your fur babies❤
My 3 Grand kids when they come to the visit or when I'm babysitting the house is like a bomb went off 😂😂😂😂😂they are 7, 5, and 2
My parents weren't the most loving and patient of grandparents. If you didn't round up what little toys they had for them to play with while there and polish off any little fingerprints off their furniture they would complain about what a mess you left their house in. I got where I didn't take them to visit with them. Then they complained about that. They didn't recognize their birthdays or holidays yet you didn't hear the end of it if we didn't recognize theirs. No idea why they stayed so angry and bitter. It was really sad how much love they missed out on from these precious little ones.

Hi PawPaw and GiGi and babies. I am glad your doctor visit went well. I had my right knee replaced July 7, 2020. I stay over night and released next morning. I had therapy at home for two weeks then therapy off site for two weeks. I was 70 years old then. I am 74 now. I am doing great now. The the left knee is next but ok now. My mother had her knee replacement done 4 years ago and did wonderful with it. Just follow through with your therapy. That was the worst part of the surgery.
