I just got my Fisherman's Life cap and t-shirt the other day and a group of friends and family is heading to the June Lake loop on Wednesday, where I'll be proudly sporting my FL gear. I think it'll be the lucky charm to get us on the trout big time.
my last video we caught 5 salmon. all on 6" green pyramid flasher. other pole had 4" different style pyramid no bites (friends rod). I use that flasher on every salmon trip and it produces every time. You have a po box or something, I will send you one. Good job getting @philosophy D a salmon! Nice big girl!

I got a new boat, tested it out today with the family on the bay, tomorrow it goes out for salmon. 2007 north river seahawk. 135 hours. 150hp yamaha with a kicker. excited about the kicker lol. 20' with the off shore bracket makes it 22'. Flasher coming your way.
I'm all for that! I feel my life job should be a fisherman. Or deep sea fishing for crab and lobster. I'm tired of retail and just want to do what I love and that's fishing.
I fish with a flasher 90% of the time. Hoochie + flasher and spoons + flasher will work anywhere. You can use a long leader for spoon and bait. The flasher attracts a lot more fish. You can also rig "false-flashers" to your down rigger wire but not your line. Fighting the flasher can be a big downside. Right as the fish gets to the surface the flashers can make it hard to keep pressure to the fish occasionally. The fish can also use it for leverage as well. I avoid these issues by keeping the motor engaged- (it can help to have your friend engaging and disengaging the motor to keep tension)
@@gillateengilly5139 honestly I have fished with bait only a handful of times in the past 10 years. my grandpa exclusively fished herring up until 2005 where he switched to fishing spoons. they work so well in most cases, why even bother with bait? especially if the fish are actively feeding. if you are trolling estuaries or in rivers for kings bust the bait back out again- it will help trigger bites as they transition to home migration and spawning.

Also I know some guides in Oregon, and they use the triangle flashers often in the yellow/chartreuse and orange colors, more often orange than not the also use dead bait like you were.
Another reason I miss the Freshcoast. The fishing on the Pacific. It's not bad in the Gulf off Texas but it's just different. Salmon and rockcod over redfish and sand trout. Still tho fishing is life.

The Fraser is the greatest Salmon riverin the whole world. 5 species and all in the millions. But I would always choose to fish in the ocean in front of the Fraser most of the time.

Flashers are just another tool in the box. Cable baiters, FBR, RSK, Apex, spoons... When things slow down toss something different at em. Personally have had best success with straight chrome. IMO you are going for the attraction of the "flash" Now go smoke that hog and don't burn em:) Edit: Hit the auto up on that downrigger ASAP! Had me nervous that hog was going run and wrap>brake off.
Very nice catch. Totally agree with you... the spin of the bait is critical for looks and so approaching fish doesn't have to navigate/contort much to grab it successfully. Love your Cordova, AK slippers (ExTuff boots). Your videos are always enjoyable and your commentary is very always very informative.
Wow. Nice King. Great job. We caught one #30 on 8/22. My buddy and I have caught salmon with and without flasher. Good luck fishing Matt. My buddy used to have 15.6' Arima and we caught many salmon out of the gate and sequel hole. I love Arima boat. Stable and sea worthy.
