I think the feeling you are describing Kenny is one that I've also felt. It's kind of like 'media loneliness'. It's a sort of melancholy that arrives when you realise that you watching something that no one else has (to your knowledge). It's kind of spooky and sad; that feeling that you can't talk to someone about something. Can't moan, can't gush. It's like if you watched Twin Peaks and you wanted to talk to someone about how amazing it is and there was literally no one else who had seen it. Not even online. Not being able to share an experience with someone can feel very uncanny and it's the reason that MST3K works so well. You feel like you are watching these lost movies with a bunch of friends. Could you imagine what it must have felt like being someone who had seen Manos the Hands of Fate on their own, before MST3K covered it? Pretty fucking lonely I imagine.
This anime deserves to be abridged. Make the story wacky, poke fun at the inconsistent height and horrible animation quality, and have fun making this 1 yen anime into the shitpost it deserves to be.
It's weird to feel nostalgia for the days of internet reviewers overreacting to bad media. Especially in this age of Real Life problems just piling on top of one another to the point where it looks like society is going to collapse and the planet be reduced to an unlivable wasteland. But sometimes, you just need to listen to a guy say, "Man, I had to suffer through this, so you have to as well".
16:45 i feel like you just challenged some evil mastermind to make an extremelly bad fake anime, put it on VHS, sell it in an auction and then make a paper trail on the internet just to screw with you...

It's REALLY telling that the most realistic punch sound in the anime sounds like the effects guy just asked a buddy to limp-wrist slap him for a while to get the sound they needed
Space Thunder Kids & Diatron 5 were at least so-bad-it's-funny. I don't even want to imagine one that's so incompetent that it can't even make you laugh unintentionally.
I just watched the episode of Keep Your Hands of Eizouken where they discuss sound design and show inappropriate punching sounds before coming to this video, and I got so excited for the Nonsense when I head sound design and punching brought up.
Gotta disagree with you about the sound design. A punch doesn't always sound like a punch. In Jojo it can sound like a shotgun. In Hajime no Ippo it can sound like a jet engine.
Either way, a punch is supposed to sound like it has some sort of force behind the impact, but the punches in this anime sound like they impact with the same force as those little rubber stretchy hands.
I'm watching this video at 2x speed and the anime still looks like they just animated the key frames, ran out of money/time, and said "fuck it, release it now."
One thing that I would like to mention is that it’s made by the same production company as “Hoshi no Ko Poron” and featured an early in her career Kikuko Inouse provide the voice of Meg

The real reason I've never heard a RUclipsr bring up sound design while discussing a boxing anime is because I've never watched a RUclips video about any boxing anime before today.
I'm sorry this was the first one you watched.
@@kennylauderdale_en It's my own fault for clicking on it. Besides, this video is actually very enjoyable.
Okay but “animaybe” is a great term and we should all start using it.
Also I enjoy the whistling behind the rant. Really got me laughing. Another great video! Thank you!
Animaybe sounds like a term for western animation inspired by anime, like Avatar and such.
The whistling tune is Life is Beautiful from Deadly Premonition. Which is a trip in and of itself.

Bless you for doing this, Kenny, I recall asking you to "make video, video man" in the comments when you posted a bit of this, and you did, good job
"It doesn't matter how fast I make it... _it doesn't move!"_
A lot of anime is bad, but you know that - on some level - it's kind of *amazing* when it doesn't give a single f**k about the laws of time & space! 😆🤣😆
This feels like an entry in the Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows.

Nostalgia never had an opposite until Kenny Lauderdale and not a day goes by without our 1 frame per hour gratitude.
Kenny, just take some comfort in knowing that your review finally made this anime worth something. Your comedy actually made it entertaining.
That's some real talent right there.
This anime deserves to be abridged. Make the story wacky, poke fun at the inconsistent height and horrible animation quality, and have fun making this 1 yen anime into the shitpost it deserves to be.
I've had this video on a backlog playlist and I swear it's changed title and thumbnail every couple hours
Why is he doing it, is he trying to get it to trend?
I've never seen someone so genuinely upset over an """anime""" before but he makes such a good point I don't think I can call this overreacting
It's weird to feel nostalgia for the days of internet reviewers overreacting to bad media. Especially in this age of Real Life problems just piling on top of one another to the point where it looks like society is going to collapse and the planet be reduced to an unlivable wasteland.
But sometimes, you just need to listen to a guy say, "Man, I had to suffer through this, so you have to as well".
forcing yourself to watch or do something you don't like does that to you

I can’t even believe this was on an auction site. It feels like something Kenny won by playing a crane game that grabbed the tape out of a trash can

The punching sounds, the theme song, that one reused clip, the insane fast-forwarding clips WHAT THE HECK IS THIS DANCE SCENE???
I’m just DONE with this I CAN’T.
It's REALLY telling that the most realistic punch sound in the anime sounds like the effects guy just asked a buddy to limp-wrist slap him for a while to get the sound they needed

And in the Adam West Batman show, punches sounded like a horn section
Some of those punch sounds sound like they were ripped from a tape recording of a sound test for snes Streets of Rage or something.
Hollywood punches come from the sound of a bouncing golf ball.
@@otaking3582 At least they put up captions telling you what it was meant to sound like

19:18 All right, we have the pecking order established.
It goes Kentoushi, the dirt, the bottom of the barrel sitting on the dirt, Twinkle Nora Rock Me, Kenny Lauderdale...
And this community
The way the dance scene was animated reminded me of the comment on the Twinkle Nora Rock Me dance scene, where somebody said something to the likes of "If you blink it looks like it's properly animated"
The transitions from scene to black and white almost make it look like they're trying to simulate the blinking
You could use a strobe light but you'd have to time it properly or you would see nothing
It was simulating a strobe light. Which is actually a pretty good cheat to save money on animation.
Sir you are officially the leading expert archeologist of lost anime and media. No matter how cursed or primitive the modern world must know. Good video
You've nearly reached the "Minimum Viable Product" of the anime world. I feel like it can somehow get worse.
Nope, this isn't a viable product. A viable product would sell for more than ONE single yen thirty years later. At minimum, you need to have a frame per second. This doesn't. This is less than a slideshow.
