Obviously, she’s still an amateur in business but I really like her idea and product.

Agreed. She came to shark tank for the exposure thinking it will jump start her business but it would’ve been the equivalent of another viral moment that people forget after 15 mins. What would she do then, go on shark tank again? Teaming up with Lori was the smartest thing she did.

Her business didn't really have a future without bringing a partner on board. I'm pretty sure Lori wouldn't have budged from 40 percent.
The problem is she didn't have good enough reason to provide. All she had is a good product and that's really all. Lori knew she had to do almost all the work. I think she's already kind enough with that 40% offer.
@@lara2937 It has potential but the copycats will be a main issue if she wants to keep a good margin. She probably does not have a good enough legal team and experience to help solve the issue. Lori's QVC also guarantee her sells in the future. There is a high risk that without Lori's help, her sales will keep sliding and eventually to many copycats will take over while she doesn't have enough resource to combat that.

Sometimes the peanut gallery like Cuban helps the business owner. Sometimes you get so emotionally attached to be a business, you can't see it objectively (made that mistake myself). That 50% offer was such a great offer for a few reasons. The young lady has absolutely no "take it to market" strategy, just convinced she will catch lightning in a bottle again, and the sales were on a downward spiral. Without Lauri, this company was going under and on top of that, she wouldn't even have the money behind her to fight for her patents in court. It was an offer that made sense for everyone.

I thought 200K for 50% was a fair offer. The shark is basically making it into a business, so it makes sense to be a full partner. Very lucky keeping 60%, and still getting an offer.

My problem with these offers is they don’t take into account the value of cash in the bank and/or inventory in stock. Lori just got a complete free roll on the business, because the current stock will sell for $500k, of which 40% is 200k. She could make her money back by doing zero work.

7:40 I know it's scary to give up a big portion of your business but if you're just starting out and this opportunity is your first one to work with the big names in the industry and learn from them you should do it. Use this business to get into the game, learn and then either you are happy with the success or you can start a new venture.

The problem is that she is a inventor without any business strategy, she has products and waiting for one more viral moment to sell it off. She would be able to sell all of her inventory after the episode went live. But what after that? That were lorry comes in. I think she made a decision in hurry she should have asked for more.
This is a problem that a lot of engineers have. Great products but no marketing plan or accounting skills.
