      Nero's reign and the Year of the Four Emperors, the Jewish Revolt, Hadrian's Reign, the Macromani Wars, Commodus and the Year of the Five Emperors, the Crisis of the Second Century and the rise of Aurelian, the Tetrarchy and Constantine's rise, Attila's invasion, the final collapse of the Western Roman Empire, Belisarius and Justinian. Roman history was made for HBO.

    The show should have been 3 seasons.
    Season 1 - Rise of Caesar. Caesar's death.
    Season 2 - Rise of Antony and the triumvirate. Brutus' death.
    Season 3 - Fall of Antony. Rise of Octavian. Antony and Cleopatra's deaths.
    The show deserved 3 seasons just like this.

      Actually there where 4 seasons planned, 1 with the civil war, 1 with Caesar in Egypt, and two after that. Most likely the civil war between the ceasarians and the murderers and the civil war between Octavian and Anthony.

    @pau8x I loved Antony and Attia. I also had tears in my eyes during the final scene. Attia never stopped loving Antony, and I believe he still loved her. Even after all these years I'm also still craving more Rome. I love history as well. Even though I knew the history, Rome still surpised me. Hopefully, the production of "I, Claudius" HBO is currently making will fill the void. Maybe they'll cast James Purefoy (Antony) and Polly Walker (Attia) in it. I need to see them together again.

Watching the original I, Claudius made me realize how many stories were left for Rome to tell. We never got to see Octavian's full reign, as well watch Livia enact all her treachery. So much potential wasted by short sighted executives.

    @SugarTomAppleRoger i'm christian... but to deny the importance of Rome to the western world, is at least, to be far too innocent. Rome's influence is EVERYWHERE. even more here, in latin countries, it is in the architecture, in the philosophy, governamental structures, culture, language, blood. don't get me wrong, Jesus is VERY important and He did change the course of history (one way or another). but we owe way more to Rome than to jews (language, culture, laws, and such). "Ave citizen" lol

    Let me explain to you. The Church is the Holy Catholic Apostolic Church, the One True Church. This has nothing to do with PC. I was taught this as a child, way before the times of PC, and when some people unfortunately even made jokes about the Holocaust. The Church has never blamed Jewish people for the death of Jesus. It is illogical anyway, as they were a slave people at the time, under the harsh rule of Augustus Caesar and then Tiberius.

    Well well well. I was bought up as a Catholic, and that is not what we were told. We were told that Jesus was put to death by "brutal Roman soldiery". That is fact. Pilate was the representative of Tiberius. The murder of Jesus had nothing to do with Jewish people, only the Romans. It is history anyway. No one blames people ho live in Rome now. I guess they are Italians.

    Look both of you, it really boils down to this. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. If you really want to say that there is a super omincient being that created and controls the whole universe then you better have some hella evidence to support that. And vice versa. The problem is there is no hard evidence to support the existence or non existence of a God. We simply do not know as human beings, its beyond our understanding, and anyone who says they do is a liar.

  • @peace-now

    What you say is true. What I say is also true. Stop taking things so literally. It is like me disagreeing with you. You mentioned that Pontious Pilate executed Jesus. He didn't, but I know what you mean. As for historians, I did not mention them. I mentioned Americans.

  • @SimulacraMan
    @SimulacraMan 12 лет назад

    Odd that proclaimed Christians would threaten non-believers or even fellow Christians with violent hate. Jesus was threatened, scourged, and killed by the very judgment that has been shown here; yet, despite this He said to forgive them for they know not what they do. And for those that wish to blame others for His death they do so to escape their own blame under the guise of doctrine. He did not die for a few men, but for all men; which is why He bore all our sin and not just the sin of a few.

    Actually, the biggest winner was someone not mentioned here. These people mostly have the name Caesar, a shorthand for temporary power, brutality and selfishness. Jesus was also in this time. His power is far greater now. He founded Christianity, was hunted down by the murderous Octavius. His successful Tiberius, also a bloody Caesar murdered Jesus. Jesus is now revered by Americans, and they are now number one, not the Romans. Where is Octavius now? Just a month name.

    • @awesomereviews1561
      @awesomereviews1561 Год назад +1

      Yeah but Octavian actually existed. It’s like saying Gandalf was better than Caesar. The Christian religion isn’t the number one ( far behind the Muslim) and even the story of Jesus is borrowed from other older religions.
