Great video folks! I just bought my eu7000is last sumner. I used it yesterday for the first time to pick up my entire 1700 sq. ft. house. No issues. Ofcourse I had an electrician wire an inlet to a manual interlock to pick up my panel of 25 breakers. We were out for two interruptions but we only saw one as I decided to stay on generation for 14 hours straight. The generator performed flawlessly. I do highly recommend a fuel transfer pump made by HMC out of Iowa. I have the 30 gallon model. I was able to refuel while running without spilling a drop on 5 gallons of gasoline. Only two things I might add to the maintenance part. Add a very small dab of anti-seeze to the spark plug threads to ease removal the next time. As well as a very small dab of silicone gel inside the spark plug boot. Again to ease removal the next time. Well done though! My hat is off to you!
RUclips directed me to your video when I searched for EU6500is Sediment Cup (Sediment Trap) cleaning. (1) I take it that in the EU7000is, it has been replaced by the "Fuel Filter" as shown at 23:36 ? (2) At the beginning when you said "So you don't have tooooo," was that a Joe Dirt reference? 😅
Excellent video! Didn't know the fuel filter interval. My generator started acting up, it started surging, cutting off power and putting power on again. Before I'll take it to the dealer, I'll change the fuel filter to see if the problem goes away.
Thank you for your video! Right now I am replacing the fuel filter and this video shows exactly how to do it right. specially I can see were the O ring and the other rubber gasket goes.!
Bought my Eu7000is used... its always run great no problems whatsoever. Recently went to start it for its periodic running and guess what... yeah the battery was weak (my fault as i took the tender off to use else where and forgot to put it back into tending operation) anyway.... no prob ill just yank em. Nope, no crank rope and handle! bought used and never noticed it was not present. It looks extremely difficult to replace, im not a pro wrencher and when i do wrench i usually %#!& things up. Any advice, im leaning on taking it in for a professional to complete the replacement/installation.
Look up some videos on www.stevessmallenginesaloon.com/. Not difficult, if you can get to the screws. Usually you replace the assembly if you broke the pulley. If it's just the rope, that's easy.
Use Amsoil 10W-30/SAE 30 4 stroke small engine oil. It’s one of the best for small air cooled engines. Amazon has it for $13.49 a Qt you may be able to find a better price if you hunt around online. I’ve been using it in all my air cooled motors for years. It really holds up to the heat these little motors can generate.
I use 10w30 diesel engine oil the ford brand has extra friction additives as well. Friction additives have been reduced for the protection of exhaust aftertreament components by the EPA prompting ford to recomend there special formula. I think it's cheap added protection. Way cheaper than amsoil exc. Motorcraft does sell a synthetic version if you prefer but I wouldnt bother unless you live in a arctic environment.
Where can someone buy this Shop Manual from? I own a EU7000is and it constantly is breaking down. The service costs are eating me alive and would like to do the work myself. The biggest breakdown is the inverter has gone out and they want over $1,000 to replace it. I would prefer to do the repair myself.
You can get the manual right here! publications.powerequipment.honda.com/details/61Z37000E4 Let us know if that works for you. I hear you on the costs ; (
If you gentlemen would be so kind; could you do an combustion chamber cleaning on any Honda Eu generator? Have that done by tomorrow, thanks. Just kidding about the time frame.
I have a problem with the generator, it says 120v 240v and when I turn it on it generates 126V 252V, is this common or does it have to be repaired? Might you help me? EU7000is
Hi, is there any way to clean the fuel tank of our generator, we use this on a food truck and had to get maintenance done within 3 months of using this brand new generator. The honda workers said there could be dirt struck in the tank and we got charged a lot for the maintenance. Any suggestions? Thanks
At the time this video was made she was maybe two years old, but five now. Can you give us some tips on how to do the valve adjustment and what you are hearing so we can learn to spot that too?
Yeah, I'll end up doing it myself. I'll have to work out how I'll record and edit it. It appears to be a ton of inspections before ordeeing parts. Thanks for getting back to me.
@AirstreamMTB I have 5k hours on it. So, it will be interesting to see what the internals look like. Still runs very well, but I can't risk a breakdown considering the operating hours.
@@aaronbindrup Honda Oil is synthetic or at least synthetic blend. Depending on availability in your area. Been using synthetic oil in Honda motorcycles since the late 80's. Honda cars since the early 90's. Ask at mechanic....
@@aaronbindrup- Nonsense. Once the motor is broken in and parts properly seated, synthetic oil is a MUST. When Mobil One came out with a V-Twin oil, Harley reps were telling Harley owners NOT to use synthetic oil because it was “so slick” that bearings in the motor wouldn’t turn and end up with flat spots. As soon as Harley started selling branded synthetic oil, it suddenly became okay to use.
I am sure you have learned that a copper flat washer is not the same as a sealing compression washer as used on oil plugs ,,,,,, and your oil rating --- this was difficult for me to learn until i spoke with enough mechanics and most will just say,,yeah the first number is the weight because some times kicking a dead horse just wont get it to understand,,, and that is,,,, the first number is the temperature rating it will be running in-- the lower the number- the more fluid it is, more higher number, less fluid it is and then we get to the w-30 part,,,, W- stands for weight and is connected with the little minus like sign to the following number indicating that weight,,,,,,,,,,, this is were old school meets new school,,,,,,,,,,, this is why a 5 w-30 is thinner than a 15 w-30 ,,, the fluid warms up to operating temperature and will flow faster being a 5,,,, than a 15 at the same temp. Take a day and a half and study, all my buddy s said no but a real mechanic,, and a lot of reading and learning, you will find out. ,,,, Thank you for the video and purchasing the manual. :)
I own one of these. Great generator for sure. But they should have kept the oil fill and such on the same side as the air box. I need to unbolt it every 45 hrs from my food truck to change oil. Pain in the arse

Gald to hear, I just bought one. Couldn't get one anywhere finally found one in New Hampshire 200 mile drive from NY.
Very helpful information put forth in this video guys. I appreciate you taking the time to post this. Thanks!!
These guys do great videos. Especially liked the Lift Hanger Video for the Honda 7000.
Thank you for filming this process! My EU7000i is just about due and now I have confidence I can do it myself. (New Subscriber!)
I certainly learned something about changing the fuel filter: it's best to perform this task with the gas tank almost empty!
TOTALLY agree - we sort of didn't think that through very well.
why not fully empty ?
Thank you. I'm going to have do my EU7000 soon too. Nice job on the fuel filter.

Excellent step-by-step video. Thx
Hey guys you forgot on of the most important maintenance issues, adjusting the valves.
That's pretty reckless not torque-ing the cover door screw. What if it springs open in the middle of the night? 😁

Nice work guys, but you didn't gap the spark plug
Help me to understand, an air filter needs to be replaced if it is one year old and not used.
Replacing the rope start pulley??? Mine broke

Mine runs 224v/250v - I believe we're both entirely within tolerances.
Airstream MTB very kind for your answer, thanks
Why do you oil the air filter?
That's in the service manual - we think it pulls out even finer particulate matter when oiled slightly.

I've seen this generator used on food trucks with the propane conversion, so no tank to clean ;o)

Honda sells a specific crush washer.
Yeah but even the dealer techs don't replace it, they reuse the original one.

Why the dog barking constantly for nearly 30 mins in the video?
Do not use that kind of oil use the Honda brand oil for this generator
Hope you used synthetic oil in that $$$$ generator!!!!!
Never use synthetic oil in the Honda EU7000 , definitely could do more damage than good. Use Honda recommend every time.
