    Might want to add that in applying online, there is a 2.5% processing fee that IS NOT refunded if you don't draw. Also, the application must be completed by 11:59pm MST.

    Trail, thanks for the info. I think there is one scenario where they may allow you to carry a tag over to the following year or get a refund. I believe they make allowances for certain medical conditions such as a heart attack or being in an accident, where you are physically unable to hunt.

      Hi Philip, you are correct there are some situations where you can return a license but those are uncommon. In some states for example like Utah, Arizona, Idaho, Colorado where you can return a permit if you simply decide you do not want it. That is not the case in Wyoming.

    'Per-mit for the noun and Per-mit' for the verb. Great content and clear overview of WY application process, but distracting mispronunciation.

    😉 You know why they keep your money for so long? Because they will use your money and invest into the stock market and make money off of you so when they have to return your money back to you, they made money off of your money.
    Banks do the same thing. That's why when a bank charges you they can take out the money right away but when they need to refund you, it takes 3 to 4 business days. Because they need three to four days to bet with your money to make money off of it before they want to give back your money that you deserve

    If I was planning on hunting archery only would my odds be better to apply for a Type 9? This would be a general area hunt.

    • @trailkreitzer9163
      @trailkreitzer9163 Год назад

      Hi Jeff, the general season license/areas are type 1 meaning that if you draw it you are drawing a rifle license. In saying that, almost all of the general season units have an archery only season and you can hunt those if you buy the over-the-counter archery stamp. If you bowhunt and do not fill your license, you can actually return and hunt with a rifle during the rifle season and attempt to fill your license. Type 9 hunts are indeed archery only, but not all units offer a type 9 license. Long story short, if you want to bowhunt general season areas, apply for the general season license and if you draw it...then purchase the OTC archery stamp and go hunting!

    If my group applies for general as 1st choice can we then apply for a reduced price type 6 tag as 2nd choice? In that scenario, could you be drawn for and receive both tags?

    • @GOHUNT
      @GOHUNT  Год назад +1

      Hi JD! The full-price and reduced-price elk draws are separate and aren’t listed on the same draw. You CAN draw both in the same year, though.

    Applying as a group. We apply as a group and are drawn. If one of the party members backs out, are the remaining members required to pay the amount for the missing party members tag?

      I think it’s bc there is more info out there for residents and non residents to utilize. GPS land ownership maps, people wanted to hunt new areas, and videos like this one.

      Point creep, more applicants, fewer licenses, etc. Lots of reasons.

      Carrying capacity. Areas can only grow so many deer/elk/antelope, etc. Demand has only continued to increase with social media, hunting videos, GoPros….. What is the human carrying capacity in these units? How many permits do you allow? How much pressure can a unit stand? At what level of tag allocation are they diminishing the quality of the hunt. A simple question that requires multiple layers to answer. Most of which is quite subjective. Your tolerance for hunting pressure may be quite different than other folks, etc.

    What is the cost and requirements to just by a non resident preference point in the summer? How much is the license for non resident and elk point?

    • @kurtissapiro3089
      @kurtissapiro3089 Год назад

      Their is no hunting license in Wyoming. So you won’t have to spend money on that like most states. The point is usually around $50.

      Hi Ryan, you do not have to apply in the draw if you only want to buy/build points. You can log into Wy game and Fish from July 1 - Oct 31st and buy a preference point. The cost for an elk preference point is $51.
