A wartime adventure story about a bomber pilot who crashes in France and has to escape back to Britain...
Check out my other channel @mysteriousmagpie for hundreds of radio plays about ghosts, monsters and murderers...
I've also written a guide to ghost and horror stories for Christmas on British television and radio, which may be of interest. HOLLY WRAITHS (and its companion volume HOLLY TERRORS, or a combined edition of the two), is available in paperback and ebook from Amazon:
www.amazon.co....
Everything about this play was tremendous. It HAD IT ALL! A wonderful love story, the intrigue of war, suspense, heroism and some humor. This was truly a great listen, with quality characters, plot and sound.
This ranks up in the top 10-20 drama performances that I’ve heard! BRAVO!! ☮️
Wonderful ,wonderful ,wonderful story which is shocking me, especially the end.
Brilliant, great acting, a wonderful story. A must listen. Thanks MM.
Very enjoyable! Rory Kinnear is an excellent actor!
He is, and very versatile. You can also hear him in 'Scoop', recently uploaded to this channel.
Magnifique !! I'm not French but it's the only word that fits !!
H E Bates ...? Another " forgotten " English writer like L P Hartley , John Wyndham
A J Cronin and many others...How fortunate we are to have the Magpie to
remind us that there was " great writing " before Martin Amis and Co...
Excellent, thank you.
Just 15 years ago, these great stories were a staple. Now it is too often horrendously awful unfunny programs, with announcers making heavy, slow, obvious jokes and guffawing and doing their best to seem stupid and undereducated in order to be accessible.
He remembered her " because she was young". Why is that ? A male thing?
