That was well done, it’s not easy telling a story in context of quantum physics and this barely scratched the surface of the weirdness and possibilities with a very philosophical meaning woven through it. I’m glad we’re trapped in time in our current state, that’s hard enough to deal with.

Tricky, I'm afraid - you're probably aware, but there are two different BBC radio adaptations of that Charles Paris mystery and while you can find the version starring Francis Mathews on youtube etc, the Bill Nighy version from 2023 seems a little more obscure. There are a couple of places that seem to have a one-hour version of the drama, but the original broadcast was four half-hour episodes, so I assume that must be heavily edited. If you're curious to find out for yourself, here it is on another YT channel: ruclips.net/video/xt1yKEnYfRA/видео.html

One of my great (but petty) regrets is that I didn't buy a copy of The Cruel Sea from a second-hand book stall years ago. It was a hardback edition, and special because pasted on the inside cover was a typed letter from a German lady whose brother had fought and died in the German navy during the war, and she said how moving she'd found the book in telling the story of sailors at war. Evidently she wanted future readers of the book to appreciate its truth - I can only hope that copy ended up in good hands.
