It was a huge commercial success, the track reached #1 in Austria, Belgium, Canada [Dance/Urban], Denmark, Europe [Eurochart Hot 100], Finland, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. In Ireland it reached #2 and in the U.S. #25 on the Billboard Hot 100.* 🎵💿🔊

@@soscobra Sweden is not a little nobody when it comes to music... Do some research, and you will have TONS and TONS of crushed dreams when you realize that that Katy Perry, The Chainsmokers, P!nk, Taylor Swift, Mike Perry, Adele, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Skip Marley, Justin Timberlake, Bon Jovi, Kelly Clarkson, Westlife, Jessie J, N*Sync, Taio Cruz, Enrique Iglesias, Usher, Lady Gaga... etc etc etc etc the list goes on.. The pace alone would set your heart to racing, but then Tommy sings and plays multiple instruments, and adds comedy to the whole chaotic insanity !! Shout out to Asia for mentioning her experience with Square Dancing which we had to learn in Phys. ED in elementary school. Came to southeastern U.S. to college and we had a square dance there too but with alcohol.!!! If was one of the most memorable fun times I have ever had.! Tommys "thing" is to take songs he like and have fun with. Remix and do then in hes own way with metall/rock.Asia & BJ u have react to him earlier. Tommy are a multi talent and do all the mixing and playing all instrument. Perhaps not the violin :) He does among many many other songs Elton john ( cirkle of life) Celine Dion, Gary moore ( murder in the sky) Abba ( plenty of Abba songs) He recently played with Sabaton and after 7 years he decide to leave the band and focus on hes own band named Majestica. And every friday 12 am ( europe time) he relese a new song, Check out hes portfolio with all diffrent songs. And ty Asia & BJ for a great time listen to ya reacting

The origins of the song "Cotton Eye Joe" are rooted in American folk music, specifically from the American South. The song dates back to the 1800s and was popularized during the era of American slavery and Blackface Minstrelsy in the late 1800s. The original lyrics of "Cotton Eye Joe" were racist and utilized harmful stereotypes about Black people. The song tells the story of a Black man who comes to town and steals people's wives, and no one knows where Cotton Eye Joe is except for the singer's dad, who apparently murdered Cotton Eye Joe for sleeping with the singer's mom. Over time, the song evolved and became a staple of American culture, particularly in square dance and line dance traditions. In 1994, the Swedish band Rednex released a popular dance version of the song, which further popularized it worldwide.

The song was originally a folk song from the 1800s. Tho' no one really knows where it came from, who wrote it or when they wrote it. It was around before the US civil war. And nobody knows what it means. It could mean STDs, it could be a reference to light and dark skin, it could be about drugs (as most were legal back in the 1800s) ...no one knows.
