Good Lord. What a voice. What a fantastic cover. I have heard other covers done by Tommy and he never ceases to amaze but this was next level. Thank you Peter, your reactions and analysis videos never fail to make me hear things in a song that I never heard before. Peace and love to all.
Great reaction and analysis as always!!! If I may suggest Tommy singing "You Raise me up" 1 octave challenge, he is stunning!!!
I agree!
Yes, definitely!
I recommend to reacto to Queens Who wants to live forever and Bohemian rhapsody. Personally for me these songs vocally are the top.
I agree!!!
I agree
You should watch and analyze Tommy’s version of “You raise me up”. I’d love to hear your break down of his singing ability. What an incredible voice.
I don't know which voice gets me more excited...maybe Tommy will cover Child in Time one day.
Yes, Peter. Tommy brought me here. I just love his voice, crisp and clear, beautiful and able to reach the highest mountain. Very rare talent and I´m so glad he gets recognition, slowly, but steadily. I haven´t heard anything half hearted from him, always a class above almost anyone else.
Listen to his ' O helga natt ' and the english version 'O holy night'
O helga natt would be the better choice in my opinion.
@@peterheider6557 yes, but than you can hear the different, I know the swedish one is better. Not just the language but him singing it
Welcome to the wonderful world of Tommy Johansson. 😃 Tommy is from Boden/Sweden and play sings, plays gitarr and base in Sabaton, & Golden Resurrection and
he also sings, play gitarr & keybord in Majestica in a one of a kind.. A freak of nature.. He does everything himself, all the instruments, singing (off course), all the videoing and all the editing.. And whats also equally unique with him is that he has never taken any singing lessons, he is self thought through and through..!! He''s a national treasure.. And best of all he is an incredible nice and humble man.. He's pure gold.. You shoulden't be surprised if he pops in here and watch your reactions of him.. He loves it :) Oh I almost forgot to say, he does he's own mixes of the songs he sings.. (He drops a new song every sunday)Im sure I have missed something he also does... but I will be corrected in the comments im sure =) 💯💯📣📣
It’s every Friday 😊 today he released his version of “Payed my dues”
This is incredible! I've never heard someone do both parts in an arrangement like this! Tommy's voice reminds me a lot of the rock arrangement that was released before the show opened. I wouldn't mind seeing Peter react to that version or any of Sarah's work, too. As someone who's been singing Christine as an amateur my entire life, I thoroughly enjoyed Peter's breakdown on this. There's a reason why this show lasted for 32 years on Broadway and the title track remains an epic showcase for soprano and tenor, or rather in this case, a tenor with range for days!
Love, love, love that man’s voice! Two more you must check out from Tommy Johansson that I just love are “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “You Raise Me Up - One Octave Challenge”. Stunning!
I love this song, but I love it even more now! Those are some PIPES!! Holy cow, dude! SING FOR ME!!!
YAY! MORE TOMMY!!! (Please?) He has loads of covers on his channel - plays Keyboards, Guitar (Obvs) and Bass.
Drums too, though not in his covers
Don't forget the accordion!😃
Uff, this was really good. Love the way he duets... and the way he shifts from melodic to more metallic style. Really fun!
Yes! As a Swede just like Tommy, a Sabaton fan and great admirer of Tommys voice for some time I´m very happy you now have discovered him. Please check out more of Tommys covers! Great analysis as always Peter. I agree that Tommy would make a great opera tenor.
Tommy is great, he recently announced his eventual departure from Sabaton, where he is one of their guitarists. He also has his own band, Majestica, he is a true talent! I am enjoying your analysis!
Maaaan Tommy is just freaking unbelivable. Every damn musicstyle he nails its absolutely INSANE.
Pulling off both parts in what i understand to be one of the hardest songs out there.. its mindblowing
YES! Tommy J is the GOAT when it comes to Swedish rockers.
Спасибо за вашу реакцию на Томми и добрые слова, он один из любимейших моих певцов.
Tommy❤❤❤!
Finally, I was waiting for you to get to Tommy for a long long time.
Tommy is one of my absolute favourite singers and he really was brilliant in this song. He is so talented and a full blown musician He plays guitar ( for Sabaton, but not much longer) he plays keyboard ,drums, bass , flute, accordion, he has his band Majestica, produced Floor Jansen and has his RUclips channel full of treasures. I always wanted to know what you think about him and I am so happy you like him. That was a brilliant analysis. Thank you. Now I hope The charismatic voice will find Tommy too. Maybe you can tell her😊
Been a fan of Sabaton and Tommy for a long time. The thong about his voice....he is self tought!
I agree he could sing opera, in fact, I doubt there is anything he can't sing.
I’m really glad you did this one, Peter! I’ve just begun listening to Tommy and it was great to hear you break down some of the techniques he used.
Thanks, Peter, for helping me understand & appreciate why I am a Tommy Johansson fan.
As a complete novice when it comes to analyzing and distinguishing pieces of music and its performers, I must say that your review was interesting and instructive.
I only discovered Tommy in mid-December and it felt like a premature musical Christmas present.
Thank you for the reaction! Please check out Tommy Johansson's She's Gone. It's awesome!
And if you like songs turned into metal, you should definately check out Dan Vasc. His Amazing Grace cover is Epic!!
Yeah… Tommy doing Steelhearts ”Shes Gone” is a MUST !!! Trust me !!!
Since Tommy's mainly self-taught, it's really interesting to hear your analysis, being classicly trained yourself.
Tommy's got a wide range of covers. His You raise me up, 1 octave challenge, is more of a circus act to my taste, although impressive.
His first love in music is 80's metal. Lots of good songs there!
So glad to see you reacting to and analysing Tommy’s covers. He’s a fantastic singer and musician and I’ve been hoping you would react to him. Thank you for the analysis
Do "You raise me up"next
Dan Vasc sings Music Of The Night from Phantom of the opera, you really want to hear this.
Welcome to the world of one Tommy Johansson whom gotta be from another world or something!! The guy is Mr Multitasking he sings, can go higher than some ultra sopranos, plays the guitar, bass, piano, drums...Until recently he was the guitarist for Swedish power-metal band Sabaton. Tommy drops a metal cover here on YT on his own channel every friday at 12 CET. He's in a league of his own!
Listen to Tommy singing The winner takes it all (ABBA) Superb
Thank you for listening to this song, was hoping you would! Love Tommy ❤
I've been waiting for a loooong time for you to get to this artist.
Tommy filmed this on vacation in an villa in Italy.
He has done some covers in Italien too.
He is mainly selftaught isreputed to have said that a book on vocal technique and listening to radio is his training. Though he has attended high school with a profile on musical theatre.
Multi-instrumentalist, mainly guitar since age 9 but I've seen him use bass, piano/ keyboard, drums, recorder, accordion and mouth harp as well.
Excellent musical arranger who also use virtual instruments. So all you hear is produced by him.
He mixes and edits and mostly films all himself. For this video he hired a filming crew. Normally his girlfriend helps out.
Please check out his Queen covers Show Must Go On. Who Wants To Live Forever and Bohemian Rapsody. They wont disappoint.
Great comment, Carina😊 can we now get the charismatic voice to react to Tommy please😃
kaelynshea been trying that for a while. She want be disapointed.😊😊😊
@user-jp2ib5oj8o she want or won't???😅😅
@@kaelynshea5533that would be so much fun!
@@kaelynshea5533 Oh god, yes!
Since I saw you analyzed Tommy J's video, I check in every day (at least 30 days ) and play it on your site every day, so more people can find both you and Tommy, love what you teach that we amateurs can't.
I really appreciate that!
Welcome to the "Tommy Johannson Rabbit-Hole " 😊 It's very deep, but you will have a lot of fun when you listening to other songs from Tommy. He is 36 and has it's own band for 20 years now. His favourite music is powermetal, but he does just for fun nearly every week a coversong from every genre. He sings Songs from ABBA, Queen, Heart, Elton John, Bands I hardly know her name, italian pop songs, remarkable christmas songs and so on.... His musical horizon is as wide as the summer sky in northern sweden. He is a family man, loves to be with his sister , friends and the neighborhood. Listen to his music, you will never be dissapointed.
I love your comments ❤. I'm A professional singer from Finland, and Tommy is one of my favorite singers. But you analyze really well and professionally. Thanks 🥰
Love Tommy! Super versatile. That is a haunted castle in Italy. I've not heard in what town.😂 Extremely talented multi-instrumentalist. Thanks for the great analysis
I just want to tell you that Tommy records his videos himself, plays all the instruments himself, drums, guitar, keyboard And also plays 7 instruments himself. He makes these films himself with his girlfriend sometimes filming. Such a natural talent who was a background figure for the band Sabaton, now he goes his own way.. Hope he succeeds with his own career on his own two feet. I myself think he is Sweden's best voice.
Thank you for finally reacting to Tommy! I was really looking forward to your reaction and I enjoyed listening to your analysis. I see Carina said all you need to know, I hope there will be more reactions to Tommy. Btw, just listened to new Bass Gang song, you guys killed it as always, fantastic!
Tommy's voice is amazing! Very talented guy. Loved your reaction to and analysis of this - your face is very expressive when listening to such artists! Hope you react to and analyse more of his covers as this was really enjoyable. He has a great cover of Meatloaf's "I Would Do Anything For Love" and has covered several Gary Moore (one of his great musical heroes I believe) numbers as well that it would be interesting to hear you react to and analyse.
You mentioned Jonathan Young - he also has a cover of this song on his channel. It is from some years ago now with another of the Bass Gang's collaborators, Malinda. Your take on that would be interesting to hear. (They also covered "Point Of No Return" and "All I Ask Of You" from Phantom around the same time.)
he is one of the very best singers i have ever heard
Thank you for the great reaction and analysis of Tommy’s cover of Phantom of the Opera! I love that musical and it was my way into Tommy’s amazing covers. Please react to more of them, you would make my day!
Great R&A, as always. The artist did a magnificent job on this piece.
great reaction! I would love to see more Tommy and especially more Dan Vasc Reactions from you.
Peter, try doing a reaction on Dan Vasc's Phantom of the Opera. The are both wonderful singers and artists, each in his own genre!!!!😮😊
MORE TOMMY!! His cover of “You raise me up” (1 octave challenge) is a good one to do next
We have three great singers called Tommy in Sweden, Johansson, Körberg and Nilsson. I suggest Tommy Johanssons version of ABBA:s The winner takes it all. You will be knocked.
Ave Maria and She's Gone as well... I was blown away..
This song is one of my absolute favorite songs.
This is easily my favorite version i have ever heard.
Wow, What a voice.Plays a awesome quitar also.
You are gonna love Tommy just as all we do, hugs from Spain 🤘😉🤘
great reaction, and gotta love Tommy- one of our Swedish musical gems!
Thanks Peter for your reacting to Tommy’s amazing cover-version of this wonderful song❣️Tommy is amazing and I’m proud to be Swedish like him. We have two Absolutely 💯% Amazing singers in this country right now. One is Tommy and the other one is my personal favorite Erik Grönwall (the lead singer in Skid Row right now), and the together going to be “Absolutely Amazing Powerful” combination.
Wait for it to come and I totally 💯% sure they two, going to be a BIG name “Erik & Tommy” over the world!🌍🌎🌏❤️🔥🎶❤️🔥🤘🏼❤️🔥🎶❤️🔥
Only wait for it and you All Will See & Hear!❤️🔥
Thanks from Jeanette and Sweden😊🇸🇪
Okay, so this was fantastic. He has an amazing voice, and the video is very well done. He's really very good. And yes, kudos to everything about "Phantom of the Opera" is so well written. I also enjoyed your input. Thank you for your reaction. ❤
Tommy is so talented
Oh my how I have waited for this Peter !..not to mention since you announced that you would do a reaction /analysis for Tommy ..I have waited and gotten my hopes up every time you posted a video (you have cruel streek ..it must be ..I mean ...waiting this long after doing the announcment 🤣) However ..you don't dissapoint!!!!! ...stellar job on this 🌹
Was hoping you would do this one!!🩵💙🩵💙
Another swede you should check out is Daniel Heiman, crazy high singing - even lows are crazy.
Yes Tommy is a great musician and singer. Every friday he give us a new cover! Now he is back whit Majestica and hopefully they will record a new album! Thank you for the reaction 🙏
Omg these powerful male voices are so amazing, just fantasies how the feeling of performing this song, so fulfilling 💎💎💎
Thank you for reacting and analyzing Tommy's version of "Phantom"! I'm so glad he is gathering such a following to win the poll! He is such an amazing artist and gives everything to his passion plus he is just a great human being...you'll see his humor in other videos! I make it a habit to subscribe to Tommy supporters so you got a sub from me! ❤
Note: the section with more grit is the Phantom. The opening less-grit verse is Christine. And yes, the whole thing is transposed down so he can sing the "soprano" line.
Tommy is a genious, both with intstruments and vocal. He plays all instruments himself, does the arrangements and mixing. If you want to hear what he can really do you ought to check out his rendition of "You raise me up", he does it in an Octave challenge, i.e. one octave higher than it's written and he nails it.
Tommy has amazing talent as both a singer and a instrumental musician. He, for the moment, plays rhythm guitar for the Swedish metal group, Sabaton (I highly recommend checking them out). But as others have already mentioned, Tommy's One-Octave Challenge of You Raise Me Up is an amazing example of not only his vocal range but his musical abilities on both piano and guitar. I would love to see you go over that song as well as other pieces from Sabaton. The Red Baron, Night Witches, The Great War, Steel Commanders, and especially their song To Hell and Back. Almost everything Sabaton does is about historic military events.
Really enjoyed this one!❤️🔥
Proud Swede loving that you found our Tommy. He's from my small town way up north in Sweden. 🇸🇪 Great voice, love him so much!
🇸🇪💯
Amazing Tommy ❤️ 👏
Thanks for covering his voice.
I heard this first time not too long ago and loved it. I sing and tried to keep up with him......low notes great, did not even try the highs.
This was awesome, it's the first time I heard Tommy, he has such high tones!
I would love to you react to Dan Vasc singing Nessum Dorma.
I just love the way you explained every aspect of Tommy's voice ❤️ keep it up your doing a great job 👏
Thank you for your analysis on Tommy, he is someone I watch weekly on RUclips, his covers are fantastic and what a great analysis thank you so much, if in the USA, His RUclips is on Friday chat is from 4am-5am, his song is on at 5am. Thanks so much for your analysis.
Tommy Johansson is a Swede and this also reflects in his vocals. I can hear his Swedish accent which is subtle.
Tommy does such a good job on this song absolutely great job. Phantom is not easy to sing. In college we did Phantom and imo, it’s a hard song. I am a natural soprano none of that training and then become soprano…none of that.
Absolutely 💯 that Tommy hit that high C!!!
I love the metal version of this song. Really love it.
This is one of my favorite songs by Tommy! I love all of your analyses, Peter!
More Tommy, please!
I often mention Tommy to people to react to.
He is a world famous guitarist. for one of the biggest metal bands.
He has a smaller band as a side project.
And then he make YT content where he sings. Because he just loves it.
And he sings better than some of the most famous lead singers out there.
His Steelheart cover of She's Gone is one of the most insane thing ever.
Thank you for reacting to Tommy!
Great reaction👏
Please do a reaction of "The Light" written by Tommy Johansson and recorded for the first time with his old band Reinxeed when he only was 18 years old! He has done a new recording on his YT-channel👍🏻
Thanks for a great reaction to one of my favorite singers / performers. He has done some amazing things!
Great reaction and review there Peter! 👍👍👍 Tommy, oh this guy! He is one of those prodigy kids that can do anything! He plays multiple instruments, can sing to the Stratosphere and he is a really nice and funny guy!
We were all sad to hear he will be leaving Sabaton within the year but I have no doubt he will do great whatever he does.
I would recommend you reach out to him! He might be interested in a colan or an interview! That would be so awesome!
Best version of this song I've ever heard. Stunning voice. Thank you, from South Africa 🇿🇦
Hey Peter, sorry that I correct you. The first part of verse 1 is the female part. When he drops down the tune, it‘s the male voice of the „Phantom“
C'est un chanteur extraordinaire, j'adore et un très bon musicien ❤
Loved this! This was so much fun! I still love his Ave Maria. Hope you might cover that one also.
Yes, that's a great suggestion!
Automatic goosebumps for me lol 🇸🇪
Thanks for your professional reaction! The first time I heard this, I could not believe he did both parts so well:)
Amazing Tommy ❤❤❤❤❤
Tommy the swedish sensation👍👍
Уникальный вокал и лучшее исполнение!!!!🔥🔥🔥🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤
Sick reaction Peter. Second the suggestion for Tommy's 0ne octave above the original throughout challenge, singing "You Raise Me Up". Thanks once again.
This was beautiful!!!! Such wonderful talent.
I love that despite hearing this piece covered by others you can still project joy and appreciation for another talented version.
So much information, thanks👏👏 Greetings from Finland 🇫🇮
I dont know why I'm so late in seeing this reaction, but i loved it thank you! Ive subscribed to your channel now 😊
I was in choir, and was percussionist in orchestra in school but thats the sum of my musical knowledge, its lovely to hear you explain whats actually happening and that he is as skilled as my untrained ears thought.
Please would you consider his Ave Maria and the one octave challenge he does on You Raise Me Up 🙏 oh unless you have already....off to look now 😄
And equally good guitarist. Well I bet he plays all instruments in this production.
I never thought anyone would sing this better than Marco and Nightwish. Tommy is amazing!!!
You raise me up and Ave Maria is also great!
Sounds a little metal. Great voice I’m loving ‘this!
Metal is Tommy Johansson's main genre. He's still guitar player for Sabaton, Swedish metal band (but leaving soon to focus on his own career) and lead singer, songwriter and guitarist for Majestica. He also covers songs from different genres, a lot of 80's pop, etc on his own YT channel.
I always learn something new when I watch your videos!
He did an intresting take on Angels we have heard on high on his christmas calender 2022 ..the video is a little more basic since he put out a video every day during decemer that year...but I loved the combination om more classical singing and rock (think Sebastian Bach vocal style) . Tommy is to my knowledge self tatught however he attended a high school with a musical theater profile and he have stated that his best teacher was all the great singers he heard on radio ..and a book in vocal techniques that his music theacher gifted him. However formal or not ..he has trained his vocie all his life ..if you are ever up for a "early rendition" - "late rendition" comparison for an artist to evalutate growth and development. Tommy has two stellar oppurtunities for this. On majesticas album "Above the sky" from 2019 you have a a rendition of the song "future land" recorded for that album but also the orginianl demo from 2002 (recorded when Tommy was only 15 just out of voice changes and around the time he desicided he wanted to persue singing (after heraing 18 and a life by skidrow on the radio) and he has also done a rerecording of "The light" (20 year celebration) on his channel when he was 35 . You can find the first recording of that song (from when he was 18) on his very first album "The light" song The light released under the name ReinXeed in 2008.
While you can easily go down the Tommy rabbit hole your should look into his one octave challenge of you raise me up
Great video btw
Hey Peter...
Did you ever react to Nightwish's cover of Pink Floyds "High Hopes, sung by Marco Hiatala?
If you love Rock sung by an amazing male singer, you should try that one.
(And Phantom Of The Opera, sung by Tarja and Marco, 2005).
Perhaps you've got those reactions somewhere in your playlists...?
I'll check now.
Love your content and the way you explain singing techniques. ❤
