Hi, I work for the UK distributer for Advance Paris. The amp input is to be used if you want to use the amp as a power amp only. Bypassing the pre-amp section. Thank you for the wonderful review. David
I didn't think they had a UK distributor. There's not one on their website. Please let me know where I can get one of these from a proper source in the UK @kjglijgliugvukygfyfl
This video is exactly why I'm back in the hobby. I've watched many of your videos and I've learned so much about the hobby since the 70's. I went from 2 ch to 7.1 and now I'm going back to 2 ch. The equipment today is different from the past yet the same in other aspects. For instance, pioneer is only home theater now. Music for me IS emotion. I'm slowly building my system and the A10 is in my plans. I understand exactly what your saying and agree 100%.
I bought this thing based on your first video. Running the A10 with KEF R3 Metas and a REL T/9x Red Sub. EMOTIONAL is the perfect adjective to describe the sound. I am blown away and unbelievably happy with this Beautiful Piece of Art. Honestly can't conceive ever buying anything other than Advance in the future. Thx Cheap Audio Man, this has been a lifechanger!
Mine was delivered last week! Had to wait - it was on backorder. This sounds absolutely FANTASTIC! Ran at A bias - cleanest sound I've heard through my KEF Reference 3 / I noticed it can run warm after about 2 hours / now running 4 speakers with two JBL Sub 550P and I'm blown away. CEC so far works flawlessly - can't say thanks enough for this recommendation . More than worth the money, and a beautiful centerpiece. Glad you retracted the phono pre amp review - I've found it to work exceptional for me as well.
Amp in can also be thought of as a home theater bypass. So if you have a music system and a HT system that share the same main speakers you can run pre outs from an AV receiver to the Paris and the amp in bypasses any volume controls.
Amp-out/Pre-in is a break point between the pre and power amp sections, allowing the insertion of other devices into the signal path, such as an equalizer or turbo encabulator.
Yep! Ha ha I just saw this but something like a 901 set up but I have one and wouldn’t recommend those speakers I got them from granddaddy lol and thay sound like it ha ha
I remember when I first sat down and listened to my Aperion intimus T5 speakers connected to a decent Emotiva amplifier. It was like an otherworldly experience. I was listening to music late into the night!
Randy, thanks for sharing your experience so candidly. it made my heart smile. It's about art; art as a language to connect us to our emotions. Appreciate you brother. *That*is what the hobby really is about. I'm currently running a pair of limited edition Ohm Walsh 5.5000s. Its a big tall ceiling living room, and the speakers are remarkable...but insensitive at 87db @ 2.8V 6 Ohms , so they need a little juice to get the most out of them. (If you have never had a chance to hear ANY Ohm Walsh speakers ( vintage or not) seek them out). I'm thinking of trying out an Advance Paris A12 since it provides a bit more current, but then that emotional impact milage may vary. So You have convinced me to debut both the A10 and A12. Good Listening!
The Outlaw RR2160 has 20 settings for balance control. It is actually a 2 channel receiver since it has a tuner, but it sounds better than my Yamaha AS-701 integrated. It is $1,000 and also includes bass management. You may want to check it out.
I Agee. I’ve owned one for several years and think it is one of the best values in audio. The owner of Ohm speaker company uses it to demonstrate his high end speakers.
The Outlaw Audio RR2160 MKII doesn't have HDMI, but otherwise nearly matches the A10 classic for inputs. I've only had it for a week, but it has significantly improved the overall sound quality from my KEF LS50's versus the Yamaha R-N500 it replaced. Combined with the excellent audio and video from Jazz at Lincoln Center's live stream channel "JazzLive" the music delivers real emotional responses, cold chills abound. It is my favorite music source.
I am jealous of that amp. Seriously the emotional aspect is what has kept me in the hobby for 50 years. I am glad that I am not the only one who catches his reflection. LOL. Amp In = Main IN on vintage gear. Great place to put an EQ so it can work with all devices. It separates the Pre-amp from the Amp. Thx my friend.
Loved this comment because I like using and equalizer. I have always had a high end system and continue to love tuning the sound with the equalizer....can always hit the bypass button....QUESTION?--Would you take the preout jack and run it through the EQ then return to the amp via the Amp In?
I had that experience recently with an NEC A 10X solid state integrated from the early 90’s… remarkable… it’s by no means perfect - but the emotional reach is intoxicating. Even though it has some obvious drawbacks in my system - I love it. I can’t let go of it.
Well what you need is the Sith Audio high adsorption, lint free, audiophile tear elimination tissues, as do I, when you mentioned the price. Oh well, I will continue to vicariously enjoy this amazing equipment through your videos and passion. Thank you as always for your time, efforts, and great review of this equipment. Stay well, Sir.
I discovered a wonderful synergy from my system when I connected a pair of JBL 4311A speakers. All of a sudden streaming and vinyl both sounded great to me. Marantz 2238B+Pioneer PL-518+WiiM Mini AirPlay2+Geshelli Labs J2+JBL 4311
I got an emotional moment when I upgraded my pre-amp tubes ordered from Russia. I was listening to Nobody's Fault in FLAC 192 bit sampling from the Beck Album Mutations. The A10 hit a home run mixing Pre-amp tubes with an A/B amp. Best of both worlds.
Hey Randy, I watched the Les Miserable 35th anniversary performance on Sunday evening. It was an over the air antenna broadcast from a PBS. Listened through my Marantz slimline AVR and Polk R200 speakers. When Alfie Boe sang Bring Him Home I cried like a baby. Wow! Yeah, it doesn't necessarily require high dollar equipment to elicit an emotional response. Its all in the performance.
I have an AdvancedParis A10 classic for a while now, and was on the verge of selling it, and I am really glad I didn't. My main reason is that we wanted to redo our living room and the idea was to place an amp in a cabinet. It tuned out this wasn't a real good idea. So we got another cabinet in which I can place the A10 nicely and still has enough space on the edges (thanks to IKEA). The change of the living room had so much impact on the sound quality that I really get this same feeling. Its simply gorgeous. I have it paired with a set of Dali Rubicon 2 and a project carbon turntable with a Hagerman Bugle pre-amp. I also have The same feeling you describe I get with David Bowie live in glastonbury 2000 on vinyl.
The one amp that comes close in terms of power, inputs and features is the Outlaw RR2160 II. It is a class A/B receiver (it has a radio) but not tubes or HDMI inputs.
"Amp In" is for using an external pre-amp, I use this same "Amp In" connection on my McIntosh MA6500. I go direct with my SMSL DO200 DAC, bypassing the amps preamp since the latter has volume control and frankly sounds a bit better without the MA6500's pre-amp.
I own the Vincent SV-228 hybrid integrated amp. Same price and almost the same power as the A10. Tubes in the pre-amp section and solid state in the power amp section. The Vincent has a fantastic Burr-Brown DAC built in. This is an amp just like the A10 for emotional listening sessions. A comparison of the two hybrid amps would be interesting. Vincent is a German company.
Sounds... like this would sound awesome. The only thing I can't get over is the tubes. I know some people love them and claim the sound is so much warmer or whatever with them. But I don't want to deal with swapping and them going bad or feeling like I need to roll them to find ones I like only to find out 12 months later the ones I love are EOL and forever sold out, making me roll again. I know. Probably would not happen that way but I already spend too much on this hobby so I have to have some limit. I guess. Until I don't.... 😅
I have to say. My British grandparents had a Telefunken console system with the built in speakers. That thing had great sound and went very loud had to be from late 50s early 60s
Music IS the universal language. Every culture going as far back as history allows had some form of music be it instrumental or vocal. It really is about the emotion! Just hearing a certain song or lyric can take you back in time to a place or event that impacted you in any of many ways. We've all had those moments, and that's what makes this hobby great! Bravo Randy!!! 👍👍👍
The A10 Classic is on my short list. I'm a vacuum tube stereo preamp away from where I wanna be...and I'm willing to spend the extra scratch for the A10 Classic over something like the Freya+ from Schiit for "the looks". I love that thick glass face plate on the Advance Paris. Also, it's as close to a McIntosh as I'm ever gonna get.
And this is why we love you Randy, you clearly put your heart and soul into what you do. I was very moved seeing you get emotional. For me music has always been deeply emotional, I can sob like a baby sometimes, music is both therapeutic and mood matching. I'm a metal head like you and I could list a million songs that get me like that...👍
Pre-out to external processor, eq, crossover, etc. loop back to power amp in. Ideally for running a high pass filter on the amp to reduce the bass load on the amp and speakers when using a subwoofer.
$2500 is a lot, but my Marantz MM8077 was also $2500, replacing four Emotiva A-300s (2ch) Amps. It was worth every penny. The dynamics you get from a high-quality Amp are mind-blowing. I thought the Emotiva's were good, and for the money, they are, but the Marantz blew them away. It was so much better than the Emotiva that it changed how I used my system. Before, I had always used Audyssey Multi EQ and Dynamic EQ. Now I just set distance and delay. If I turn on Audyssey now, it actually sounds worse. I have 15+ years of using Marantz Receivers/Pre-Amps, and this is the first time I do not have to use any of the Audyssey settings (also the first time I bought a high-end Amp to match). The only thing that changed was the Amp.
I recently had a similar moment. I was all about budget components before my current setup. It's not the greatest system around, but it was a substantial upgrade for me. I went from a budget SMSL amp pushing a pair of budget ELACs off Spotify to a Marantz integrated, Marantz CD player and Denon turntable with an AT cartridge running a pair of Focal bookshelfs and an Infinity sub. I was randomly playing CDs I picked up at the thrift store. I started playing a B.B. King disc and was blown away. It was a great experience, and I thought that I could keep this system forever and be perfectly happy without ever upgrading again.
It's 2005 and it's a try or give up moment in my audio journey. I had no idea what a truly good sound stage could be like. I had never experienced tight bass, sibilent highs, or quiet passages without hiss. I have hooked up my new cheap plastic Sonic Impact T-amp to the recommended speakers, BIC America venturi bookshelves. I start playing Jennifer Warne's Rock You Gently, and I cry with emotional joy. You can't take that moment away from me.
A lot of comments say that you can use EQ between the pre-out and amp-in connectors. Actually you can't. The Amp in is selected in the menu and the amplifier goes into power amp mode and receives signal ONLY from the amp in input. That's it. Therefore you can only use an external pre-amp or use it in a HT-bypass situation when the Amp-in is engaged.
Well, best competing products for this are a Yamaha A-S1200, the elderly Rotel RA-1572mk2, and Marantz Model 40n all at about the same prices. The A10 does have incredible connectivity. Pricey range with a lot of competing amplifiers. Hifi gets religious sometimes...gives you the feelies. 🙂
Aww don’t be like that! We all get emotionally connected to stuff. It’s normal and natural. This guy is in touch with his audience and started off being honest and he still is. What I love about his reviews is he reviews his reviews, watch and learn….. no really!
AMP IN is to connect an AV Receiver and use the A10 as power amp (HT Bypass). But you have to enter in the menu to enable it so it is not very convenient
I'm so happy with the smsl su-1! Have it going to some cheap $30 amazon headphone amp. I use usb to listen to music on my pc, and coax to listen to cd's on my 1999 sony dvd player. Only paid $67 for the su-1 last black friday. The music sounds so much better than it did when my headphones were plugged into my yeti mic. Thanks for the content.
Thanks Randy! I’d love an amp like this one day, super cool to see you really really enjoy yourself there! 😢 Also, good (bad) joke but that thumbnail is the best part, obviously 😉😉 . and Daniel Craig is probably my fav bond but all the previous guys did a great job and I still love the classics as much as the new movies. Keep up the great work, cya soon!!!
I use my A10 as the external amp for my home theater main speakers, thus the Amp IN through which my HT receiver controls the volume of the A10. The wireless module is sold separately and you can add Bluetooth support through it. Got mine for 1,200 used, great deal tbh.
I was considering the A10 to connect my AV Receiver and use it as power amp for my front speakers. But AMP IN has to be manually engaged (nothing in the remote controller). Don’t you find it a bit inconvenient?
@@fofocho71 You are right, it is inconvenient, unfortunately. I have no clue why they didn't put a menu button on the remote. But I usually listen to atmos music, so I don't have to switch it very often when I want to listen to CDs without going through the receiver. But if you are asking about switching to AMP IN everytime you turn the A10 on, then you don't have to. It stays in AMP IN mode until you turn it off manually.
Thanks. In my case I would be using 50% with AV Receiver (AMP IN) and 50% with a streamer (volume control needed). This situation is dangerous if I forget to disable AMP IN and I listen to the streamer as it would blow my speakers. Many stereo amplifiers have a dedicated HT Bypass (AMP IN) input and only in this input volume control is bypassed. But the A10 is “all AMP IN” or nothing
@@fofocho71 the only consolation I can offer is that when you have the AMP IN option enabled, it says it on the display until you disable it, so you always know if it is on or off at first glance.
AMP IN - From the manual: If you only want to use the power amplifier section of your A12 Classic, you can connect another preamplifier or audio mixer on L/R AMP. IN jacks.
Randy, Being hit with emotion by certain music recordings and gear combos - - - - - - yeah I get it! Been there and I hope I find those moments over and over again. Thanks for leading us to great gear at good prices. All the very best to you and yours, Kevin
The AMP IN enigma resolved : From "PRE OUT'' to your favorite amplifier so that you can benefit from the tube preamp of this amp on your favorite amp. From your favorite preamp to the ''AMP IN'' so that your can by-pass the tube preamp and still get any preamp to play throught that amp stage. Just like and effect loop on a guitar amp you can also put any device between the preamp and the amp...
This was a great video. Too bad the previous commenter didn’t watch it!! Here’s why: you hit the nail on the head about home audio. Thing is: you can have the same experience in the car, or from an old boombox around a campfire, or from a live band…IF ANY type of art, from music to poetry to paintings to comedy MOVE YOU EMOTIONALLY…to laugh, cry or fill your imagination, then you KNOW its good! I hear The Beatles 1/2 speed masters on a $50,000 stereo and I was amazed. But I heard it on my paltry $5000 stereo and was also moved. Saw The Doors play Light my fire live, wow! But I still get worked up when it comes over the car radio. Even if I think about “The End” by the Doors…it moves me beyond belief…due to the Vietnam connection. Ever go to a great art gallery and find yourself staring at a painting for a long time that “tells you a story”? Whenever I hear some of Robbie Robertsons contemporary Native American music it makes me very emotional because half my family is Native American…and I get it! Mozart….enough said. And yea, I loved AC/DC live back in the 70’s….then, I got them too! Isn’t it afterall, being an audiophile really all about communication? Just what you attempt to do on your channel. I actually followed some of your advice on purchases, and so far, am very happy. And on at least one suggestion, it turned out way better than you realize. Let’s face it, you did all of this just to get yourself a kick ass system! 😂😂😎
I bought in 2019, Advance-Acoustic x-preamp and A-160 power amp and listen over Advance acoustic K11-S speakers...I surprised with the price/performance ...After 5 years I found a good deal and upgrade my system again with Advance Acoustic X-X-i1100 and XL-500 speakers...I highly recommend the brand..They are really sound fantastic.
This video is important for anyone who is looking for, not just great sound, but sound that touches us emotionally. I have really enjoyed the speakers that I have had for over 20 years. But when I brought a pair of Sonus faber Sonettos home for trial listening, i got choked up. They pair wonderfully with my big Marantz AVR. I was able to SEE the musicians and not just hear them. Thank you for expressing what being an audiophile is all about so eloquently.
I am curious to know what model AV, and whether the AVR's signal happened to be boosted with a Poweramp. I ask cos I couldn't get the best out of my Sonetto's with a £2,000 Denon 6500 AVR. No realism. It sounded a little too digital for my liking. Mind you, they do say when it comes to stereo marantz tops Denon.
Quoting Tom Petty. “Music is probably the one real magic I have encountered in my life. There's not some trick involved with it. It's pure and it's real. It moves, it heals, it communicates and does all these incredible things.” If music is magic, the gear we find is our alchemist. Thanks Randy
I know the feeling. It’s the number one requirement of any system/component I own that it connects emotionally. If it doesn’t then I don’t want it. For me, a tube preamp with a solid state amp and huge horns usually help
AMP in is to you can connect a pre-amp ore a Surround receiver to it, and use it as a power amp. Quite nice, if you also have surround receiver with low power.
The DAC is an akm. Here below the text from the maker: DAC IN ADVANCE PARIS A10 CLASSIC Nowadays, top devices can only be top if they have an excellent D/A converter (DAC) on board. Advance is a pioneer in the field of DAC integration and continues this tradition. The A10 Classic uses the famous AKM AK4490 (32bit/768kHz) dac. Via the asynchronous USB-B input, equipped with the latest , are played.
It used to have an AKM, but the latest Technical Sheet on their website has an ESS due to AKM shortage. Per CA distributor, some still might come with the AKM.
According to the Advance Paris website, the DAC used in the A-10 is a SSE 9018. After doing a quick Google search, all I could come up with was the Sabre DAC ESS 9018. The shuffling of the preceding letters might have something to do with French/English translation? Or merely a dyslexic typo.
People might laugh at this but I don’t care, I feel the same way about my Sony STRDB940 cinema amplifier on my Yamaha floor standers whilst listening to to music on my Sony jb930 minidisc recorder, it sounds so damn good, I mean really good, this amp has phenomenal sound quality and power
I agree , I have the STR DB830 but after I have connected my ADCOM GFA 545mk2 power amp to the pre out of the Sony now the Bose 501 Mk4 came to a live.
No laughing here... I feel that feeling when I listen to a full blown Sony receiver. I genuinely feel my Sony STR-DA777ES is the best sounding "pre amp/amp" I've ever heard in my life. I have literally shed a tear listening to a special song on this receiver. ✌🏼 Sony ES used to rule.
@@mikedelara8226 And me mate, brought a tear to my eyes a few times, especially Kraftwerks 'Planet of visions' QS and ES are both phenomenal, i produce my own DTS 5.1 music and this DB940 has such a powerful and full bodied sound i havent heard any other match it for surround music.
@@Synthematix I didn't know that, I thought the Bose 501 are 8 ohms , but yes it seems they need good juice of power to bring them a live. Last week I bought second hand Monitor audio silver 100 6g ohh boy they sound fantastic and they go low for 4.7 ohms , I paired them with my ADCOM GFA555 MK2, I can say it is a good match.
Regarding Pre out/ Amp in: allows Signal processor, external electronic crossover, which would limit low frequency to the main speakers, and then send the signal to a Sub amp.
Thanks for this "different" review. As you say, you can't measure the emotional response, when those tingles/tears hit! For me, Mark Knopfler's Going Home Theme, From Local Hero triggers my tingles. When it comes to Bond, it has to be Timothy Dalton. No base management on this amplifier? I hear the Arylic B50 SE has it. How about a review?
I’m sure this is a fine product. The Outlaw Audio 2160 has much of the same flexibility and good sound for around $1000.00. Just saying if that is more in your budget.
Thanks for sharing the video!! Your insight is appreciated. The first time I had that emotional factor, was not too soon after I a few years ago I went from a vinyl collector with an ok set up to aiming at something that could possibly sound better… I went from a pioneer system to a solid state McIntosh and Solid state C29 preamp…But had a pair of Klipsch heresy 1’s a bought from an estate sale for nearly nothing… One day someone local was selling a pair of Tannoy Mk2 611 speakers, and I decided to spin Ben Webster “Atmosphere for lovers” Album, Parlophone’s 1st re-issue of the album on thier label. …When it played through those speakers I was in complete Woa, and wow, I’ve never heard such an intimate musical sound like this, the textures of his horn, the separation and holographic realism. I have my favs but I tend to return to this one so much, and share it to others when they 1st hear my system, and tend to get the same reactions.
I'm not positive, but the AMP IN terminal is likely a PRE-AMP input, because it is located right next to AMP OUT. The labeling is a little confusing, but those inputs may just be a pre-in/out loop for an EQ, or some other type of signal processor. I love the way the amp looks, but my only concern is if the 190 watts it produces at 4 ohms would be enough to authoritatively drive my Magnepan 1.6 QR's. Overall, revisiting previously reviewed equipment is a good idea Randy. The more time you spend with a component, the more familiar you become with what it offers, and whether or not it holds up over the long term considering its price. This is an endgame product for those on a budget, so it's very important for prospective buyers in that category to know if it's a wise investment.
A few memorable emotional audio moments : - 1985 my first CD player experience, a Pioneer with a Telarc classical recording. - 1986 my first planar magnetic headphones Realistic PRO 30. - 1986 my first NAD amplifier and CD player. - 1986 listening to SONY MDR-V6 in a hifi store. - 1987 my first SEE Revolver turntable with Linn Majik tonearm and Nagaoka cartridge. - 1988 my first Monitor Audio loudspeakers. - 1990 my first KEF loudspeakers with Obelisk amplifier and Micromega CD player. - 1991 listening to DENON AH-D950 in a hifi store. - 1991 listening to Sennheiser Orpheus in a hifi show. - 2005 my second planar magnetic headphones Fostex T50RP Mk2 modded. - 2011 my first dual BA iems JAYS q-JAYS. - 2014 my first electrostatic headphones Koss ESP/950.
Wow, you get it!! When my equipment plus a perfect song trigger a memory, I sob, plain and simple. That emotion binds my heart to the equipment! That my friends justify the price!!
Loudness button and Tone Controls(Bass&Treble) should be on all integrated amps. It gives the person more options to adjust the sound to the listeners liking. Can''t understand why manufacturers are making them without them,...unless its to cut costs. *Either way, they should be part of any integrated built.
In the 80’s and 90’s the general consensus was that tone controls affected the sound in a negative way. Though you can tune your system, ie warm amp with bright speakers, i too like tone controls
@@craiglarge5925 Subs have nothing to do with it. A good system with two subs can still have tone controls so the listeners can adjust treble and bass, gives you more options is the point.
Randy I am eternally grateful that my dedicated viewership caught you when you went over the Amators, because I scooped a pair up with a quickness. A little hard to find, but oh man after three weeks they are just so amazing in every way! Then of course right after I had to buy a REL T7X to get a little more bass in the room. I kinda ran out of money, so luckily my Marantz 8006 throws out 100w in 4 ohms for the Sonus Fabers... This is a sweet amp the Paris, but I probably need to stop where I am because my Marantz is feeding the Amators just right. Italian craftsmanship for the win. Thank you so much, you made a big difference!!!
Randy, I have had my Ridge wallet now for about 3 years and I love it! I do have my last leather wallet and store cards in there I don’t need with me all the time and keep the most ones with me in the Ridge.
You got it! All about the emotion. I just made a Playlist a month ago called "Emotion" in Apple Music, Then I stumble on this video. You are the real deal my friend No BS. You know what music is all about.
I've listened to many amp listening demo videos on RUclips using my studio headphones, and I always thought one of the more emotional amps even though it was through a recording was the Advanced Paris amps, good to know that you can confirm this in your irl listening session as well, maybe I should skip the cheap amps and just save for one good amp such as this, thanks!
New old stock Telefunken tubes are super rare and have great tone/timbre. Not to be confused with reissued. One way to identify real macoy's is a black diamond imprint stamped on the base of the tube. Expensive because they are rare. Tube rolling is it's own rabbit hole.
My Hegel H80, Magnepan LRS and WiiM pro make me tear up rather often, If I’m in the right calm and focused mood. A second hand system I have paid 1200$ for, absolutely amazing. In my mind, room and taste 😄
Amp in means you can use the unit as a power amplifier. This means you connect it to the “amp in” via the pre outs on another receiver (say if you had a multi channel av receiver which has pre outs for the individual channels). Now you are using the beautiful Advance amplification, controlled by your av receiver which presumably you would do if the Advance is a better amp than your AV receiver.
Along the years, I was privileged to make a few 'emotional' encounters through audio sale trade and as a hobbyist. Major ones were Quad ESL57, IMF tsl50/80, marantz8B/7c, Dual 1219, Meridian 506, and above all, the older Tannoy series.. and the list goes on. I'm retired and on a shoe string budget.. but do cling to my Dual 701, Counterpoint sa-1 tube pre, Quad II tube monoblocs, Tannoy T165, Chord 2Qute and Bluesound streamer. All used.. but high on Emotions. It's all it is about 🎶
This Amplifier is NZ $ 3499 here in New Zealand. Bit too expensive for me, as i am on the pension.. 😊😊😊 i did think about it....maybe...go for broke?? But i have a good German T+A amp. That is high spec, but you need a computer degree to set it up...speakers are British Castle Knight 4's transmission line, with a klipsch R8SW. One tune that brought out a emotional response for me, was Stevie Ray's version of Little Wing. The emotion in his guitar playing was absolutely wonderful. ( you could even hear his amps valves buzzing )
These Advance Paris integrated amps are so amazing to look at and to me that is a huge part of the experience. Only issue I have for example the A12 which is the model up from this. When I’m paying over 4k after taxes for an audio piece, I’d prefer it to not contain any particle board on it. Not a huge deal but the back, why not just make it metal? I’m going to check these out in a couple of weeks when they are in stock locally though as they just look too good to not check out at least. Amp in is the same as Main in. For using an external preamp and this as the amp.
The back of the A10 and A12 are metal. But for the highest build quality - you need to go to the Advance Paris X-i1100. It's a beast with an full aluminum case. Cost is about 3,100 Euro's in Europe.
This’s one of your best videos! Thanks for sharing your connection and emotional feeling to great music, which we’re all in love with this hobby, enjoy more gears and music, and have a great day Sir!
I feel the same about my ToneWinner AD-2PRO+ integrated amp. I have no clue what they did internally to this amp, but there is a reason it is compared to amps int that $10,000• range.
One thing i don't get. Why does everything have to be cheap. I have had my used b&w speakers for years, got them for a fraction. Was running a used Sony amp from their top line from the 90's. Just over a year ago i bought a 2,3k NAD integrated. HOLY HELL it is still the best money i spent on audio. Sometimes you just gotta spend
AMP IN is there to be used with an external preamp and drive the power amp directly. If you have an AV preamp on your home theater for example you can use this as a power amp for your main LR speakers. Also, some streamers have preamps and you might prefer to use them for some reason.
Emotion ? Playing Steely Dan's Gaucho on a custom TT w/ a high end VPI platter and bearing, a Roksan Nima tonearm w/ Ortofon MC-20 going into Lundahl step up transformers. Origin Live phono pre into a 6DJ8 tube preamp feeding transformers into Verum-1 PM headphones ~ holy 💩 that's too long a description of the gear, but I was transfixed by "Hey 19". Played it over and over, reliving being that age - almost 45 years ago. High fidelity time travel does exist !
I'm an old guy so my ah ha moment came many years ago. Equipment was a Crown IC-150 preamp, Onkyo power amp, Thorens turntable, Shure cartridge, and Avid 103 speakers. Music was Concertgebouw Orchestra playing Daphnis and Chloe. This by the way is the first album I played for my wife. Pretty sure that's why she married me.
The Amp in is really useful to me : I have a home theater Amp and a stereo Amp, with this I can use the amplification of the stereo Amp even when I use the home theater Amp. In the en I can switch from on to the other from a press of my remote depending on the content I want to hear.
I thought I was going crazy because there is certain music that lets me break out in tears and really jokes me up . I glad that I’m not the only one that gets moved so extrem. It’s weird. I didn’t have that were I was junger now I’m 60 it’s just weird.
Music does not exist in a vaccuum. I have memories, experiences, knowledge, nightmares, and dreams. Yesterday I was listening to Lady SIngs the Blues. Mu system is a Parasound 200 with SVS Ultra speakers and a RSL 10S subwoofer Fed by a Wiim Pro and Qutest DAC. It is a budget system and I know every peice could be upgraded. But since I have the Parasound with HPF, there is a synergy here. As I listened to Billie singing the blues, she was out in the room in front of me and I was in a Blues Lounge again, feeling the tradegies she lived. I was not listening to music. I was on a vacation ot another place and time with s special performer sharing her heart with me. When music takes me from my room and life and transports me to another place seen through another eyes, it is emotional. And, the equioment used to get there no longer exists at that time.
I have the A10 with the Concept 50 of Qacoustic and it is a goosebump set indeed!! I love Ricky Lee Jones on this set and it gives me shivers all the time
This will probably come off as a really ignorant question but, can this receiver be used in a home theater setup? I've fallen in love with it after watching your reviews but it would have to be able to handle movie nights as well as listening to music?

@AudioFPP well spoken!
Hi,
I work for the UK distributer for Advance Paris.
The amp input is to be used if you want to use the amp as a power amp only.
Bypassing the pre-amp section.
Thank you for the wonderful review.
David
Do you know if bypassing the pre-amp to use the power amps bypasses the VU meters as well?
Also, older Tube amps didn't have a 'line out'.
Wow! That’s awesome
@@cheapaudioman "Under The Milky Way" - The Church......Sublime through the A10
Wicked setup!! However, if this was my setup and I was thinking of adding... maybe go stereo on the sub. Just the balance of the room, of course.
That's not possible without a thrust-variable triode wane stabilizer. Everyone knows that.
Wow
Yep! Ha ha I just saw this but something like a 901 set up but I have one and wouldn’t recommend those speakers I got them from granddaddy lol and thay sound like it ha ha
Very nice to hear about an encabulator! I love your sense of humor!
@@doctormidnight i love your sense of humor!
Even Stereophile Magazine liked the Outlaw. I'd like to hear one
It is a fantastic amplifier. It beats my Yamaha in every way. It isn't even close. For $1,000 I doubt there is anything that can touch it.
I’d be interested to know how Outlaw products compare to Emotiva.
I Agee. I’ve owned one for several years and think it is one of the best values in audio. The owner of Ohm speaker company uses it to demonstrate his high end speakers.
It also has a heavy metal remote that is backlit.
I bought the A12 and it's a beast.A smooth beast!Definately sounds old school A&B with tube smoothness.
Those tear elimination tissues from Sith really work. I replaced all my Kleenex months ago!
Thanks for the nice Beck's music suggestion. I added it to my list of 'must find' 🎶
I enjoyed your revisit here Randy. Happy your system has that kind of synergy. Keep being authentic you.
Hi: I believe that the Amp in (next to the pre out) is to bypass the preamp section to use as an amplifier.
Often called “Main In” in the old days
Guessing they could also be used together as an effects loop to use an external EQ or something similar.
@@mehbubg Almost all integrated amps have this feature, no? At least they used to. They used to have jumpers between the two, some still do.
Awesome video! Now the P-X700 pre-amp comparison from Advance Paris would be awesome! Thanks again for looking at this Manufacturer!
I am so thrilled that you have emotionally connected with the musicality of a component. That it is an integrated amp is very special. 🎶
I'm a metal head like you and I could list a million songs that get me like that...👍
my favorite amp designer, Nelson Pass says to buy the amp that makes you happy, it sounds like you found the amp that makes you happy
As Frank Zappa said in Joe's Garage: "It looks like a Telefunken U47. You'll love it!"
Not everyone will get the reference, but that’s hilarious.
But some will.😉
Cy Borg - Best song ever.
Brilliant, remembering that, lol
Zappa was outstanding!!!
The amp-in input is for connecting an external preamplifier to the A10 classic. You will need to go in the menu and engage the Amp in setting.
Same way I feel about my Sourcepoint 10’s. As soon as I hooked them up and threw some tunes on. I knew they were staying!!!
Aww don’t be like that! We all get emotionally connected to stuff. It’s normal and natural. This guy is in touch with his audience and started off being honest and he still is. What I love about his reviews is he reviews his reviews, watch and learn….. no really!
Great thing to have emotion about stuff. The Kinks song, "Little bit of emotion" made that point well.
I became emotional when i first hooked up my smsl c100 with vintage Rotal amp and Elac monitors, and amazon lossless, it was overwhelming.
I have the SR7012 and it is boosted with an Adcom GFA-555. @@totalplonker824
The "Wireless Digital Module" is for the optional Bluetooth receiver (dongle). It looks like an USB stick!
Amp in = same as home theater bypass. Or maybe you have a special preamp you want to use, like a tube preamp, and use this amp as just a power amp.
Here below the text from the maker:
DAC IN ADVANCE PARIS A10 CLASSIC
Nowadays, top devices can only be top if they have an excellent D/A converter (DAC) on board.
@@mrvr6turbo They have changed it on there website.
Now there is no info of what dac they use.
@@RanTausi Yes and quite a few bose speakers can be quite difficult to drive properly
@@Synthematix I didn't know that, I thought the Bose 501 are 8 ohms , but yes it seems they need good juice of power to bring them a live.
Great video. You had three thumbs up from the intro alone. AC/DC, A10 Warthog and an off color joke. Then you got a bunch more. Thanks
I’m sure this is a fine product. The Outlaw Audio 2160 has much of the same flexibility and good sound for around $1000.00. Just saying if that is more in your budget.
I love the two months later format, but saving for the equipment you keep is perfect. I am glad you found something makes you happy.

Great video! Amp in bypasses volume control/pre amp, makes it a power amp
Its 2024 the bugs are fixed.
Marantz 30 or 40 are models that are good examples of today's tech.@@jdekong3945
They want you buy a subwoofer !
I love em
“Amp In” is normal to use a different preamp with the internal amp, or for HT bypass possibly.
Is beautiful! But I just had cataract removal for both eyes. I can not splurge on an expensive electronic now. I can see better, though.
I love the look of this amp. 2500 isn’t that bad for a good quality integrated amp. Very nice piece
👍
Which Onkyo power amp?
I can't remember the model number but it was 105 watts per channel into 8 ohms.@@thelowprofile9767
I’ll be checking that Amp out. Looks fantastic and sounds like it has everything but the kitchen sink. Very nice !
Now that you're rolling with your Sonus Fabers, you're gonna have A LOT more emotional responses from your music. They've got the magic sauce.
You could not be more right!
I have the A10 with the Concept 50 of Qacoustic and it is a goosebump set indeed!! I love Ricky Lee Jones on this set and it gives me shivers all the time
Amp in is probably to bypass the preamp section and use it as power amp if you want to integrate it into a HT system.
Nice ! Which turntable is that ? I recall you had the Fluance RT85 for a while...
This will probably come off as a really ignorant question but, can this receiver be used in a home theater setup? I've fallen in love with it after watching your reviews but it would have to be able to handle movie nights as well as listening to music?
