My mother who loved to cook just loved watching Martha on TV....and so did I...but the difference was my mother actually followed through on your great teaching methods.....I am very grateful for your postings of these cooking methods and will share with others who can also enjoy these recipes...
1lb each of butter, flour, sugar,eggs, was the standard and hence the name, but of course today's pound cake usually has less flour, perhaps less butter and some sour cream, salt, of course vanilla, and maybe citrus or almond or liquor for flavoring, or a cinnamon ribbon, struesel topping, but it's all good. Was looking forward to seeing your recipe. 🙂 (I'm typing as I watch this.) It looks so delectable. It's nice to have one or two in t freezer, cutting it into three layers, filling with apricot or raspberry jam, and glazing or putting whipped cream or vanilla frosting on the top(apricot), or putting a chocolate glaze, ganache or buttercream on the raspberry if you need a quick dessert for an impromptu or unexpected event. (Of course, you can always make trifle, tiramisu, or a Charlotte depending on the time.)
Due to circumstances beyond my control, I will be eating boxed brownie mix cake from Costco, and not a beautiful pound cake like this for my 35th birthday.. I bet I’ll be able to do so much with the other 4 bags 😂🥳🍰
Whenever u back cakes, and u to do not want the sinking in the middle, spread the cake mixture more to the side n make a slight hallow in the middle and bake the cake. Once the cake is bake n u will notice the cake will look even and they will be no crack or deep hallow. I have tried n tested this method, my late mum thought me this method.
Your lemons look like the one's my parent's had, the myer lemons in the store don't look like yours. The one's my parents had were thin skin but lots of juice. ALOHA

I made this cake last night and was very disappointed. The recipe calls for baking at 325 fareinheit for 1 hour and 30 minutes. I checked my cake at 1 hour into baking. It was well done. It came out very dry...
No offense, but your color schemes in your magazine with your sheets, etc. never have appealed to me, so I’m shocked to see you wearing my favorite color. My one daughter in law from Arizona, has only Greys and beiges in her rooms and I realize I will never like her color schemes either. I guess I’m more into Norwegian like folk art colors, and patterns, but your top today is a gorgeous color, and I love homemade pound cake, so THANKYOU.

The pound cakes looked so different from one another. Was it due to the lemon zest being added?
Both cakes are same, but the quanity in the cake tins are more for the lemon cake n less for the pound cake n the pound cake sink in the middle.
Please clarify the variety of sugar used. Is it caster or granulated?

When you bake pound cakes, it will come out with a crack in the middle - this makes a great container for the glaze down the line!
