There's something to be said for straight up four on the floor rock n' roll. Sometimes simplicity is good.
There was a band called Shades Apart in the 90s that a local radio DJ joked got lost on a bus in 1986, but this is AC/DC crossed with Grim Reaper with Chris Squire on bass. The vocalist reminds me of the guy from Beast in Black (another corny but more metal band from the last 10 years).

IDK, that bass part gave off tear for fears vibes, even if they didn't get that funky. Bass isn't normally that forward in the mix, especially in the 80's.
Surprised I haven't see you react to Steel Panther (at least that I'm aware of). SP is more of a parody of 80's hair metal, but they embrace it and own it while not taling themselves seriously. Checknout Steel Panther sometime if you haven't. 🤘🏻

The components of a good band, but even though they have quite a good singer, he sings in so much the same old school way. He needs to change up the singing, and get rid of the "ooohhh wooooows" before starting the chorus. That just isn't rock.
