This was my first time checking out Pagan's Mind and I have to say - I am surprised by all the connections with other bands/singer that I've already heard of - but only because of you guys! 😂
Anyways, please tell me what you thought of this one and if I should check out more by them. Like I always say - if you don't like what I'm listening to, feel free to leave me a request in the comments below! 🎵

Formed in 2000. Lead sing Nils K. Rue, you did see him in Ayreon's The Day That The World Breaks Down video, that may be where the suggestion came from.
I've heard of them, but this is the 1st time I've listened to them. To me, it sounds like some 90's Dream Theater.
Floor recently posted the video for Northward's While Love Died , on her page.
Just to clarify,i see some call it Floors album named Northward,but what is true is that Floors time with After Forever (and im sure in her own band ReVamp) and Pagan`s Mind did alot of ProgPower concerts,in Europe and in the US. Where Pagan`s Mind achieved many new fans especially from the US. People were blown away by Nils`s vocal range and delievery. And i think thats where theyr first paths crossed.
You cant pick a wrong version with Pagan`s Mind,theyr music is really good in any version. But what i would recommend,is watching them play this as Progpower USA: Pagan's Mind - Through Osiris' Eyes (HD)(Live at PPUSA X) This performance features Truls Haugen,the drummer from Circus Maximus (another rock/metal band from Norway) These 2 bands are like best friends with eachother,and ill get back to Circus Maximus abit later in the comment.
You get the full energy level of the song by watching it live,and also see more of theyr personalities. This music video is very limited budget as they have tried to get a international footing for years,without really getting the breakthrough they dreamt of. Last official update was them years ago saying that new music was being worked on but "that it was hard". I got a real sense of this meaning that they struggled with motivation and therefor songwriting didnt go as smoothly as before.
Anyway,Floor must have discovered "Jurn" Viggo through her own band and Pagan`s Mind playing at the same venues over the years,and she ended up headhunting him for a project she had in mind,a rock n roll type of project.
And the name became Northward,fitting since "Jurn" Viggo (how he pronounces his name) is located in Norway and Floor is at her farm in Sweden,so a very Nordic fitting name for theyr project together. "Jurn" Viggo is a excellent songwriter and for those that become aware of him,potentially one of the best guitar players out there. He is really tall,so he always does his little courtesy thing while playing his solos,"kneeling abit" while playing.
Its said to be Nightwish`s most popular sideproject from when everyone took some time off,to make solo material.
I mentioned the drummer for Circus Maximus earlier,here is the lead singer: Pagan's Mind - Eyes of Fire (feat. Michael Eriksen) Also from ProgPower,and you will recognize Michaels face and voice as you have seen him once before already.
If you want to have plenty of smiles and maybe even a few giggles,just overall feel good from a music video: [4K Ultra HD] Pagan's Mind - Intermission (Official Music Video) Just copy and paste that title into the search bar,as it is theyr upgraded visual version of the original video. Where they pay theyr respects to 2 legends,Ronnie James Dio and Gary Moore.
Also,after that video you might not be able to look at Nils,without seeing a long haired Mel Gibson with dark hair. Its VERY common for people to recognize this about NilsHe really has the same facial features as a young Mel Gibson,some say even theyr eyes look the same. Also in the video,one of Jurn Viggos most beautiful guitar solos........or was it 2 in the same song?You have probably never heard that before,but Jurn Viggos speciality is creating guitar solos,and each one sounds soo different from the other. No wonder Floor Jansen fell in love with his guitar play and "headhunted" him.

The speech is not closed captioned but dont worry,hes saying "we are shooting a DVD from this concert tonight,so can you promise you will scream for me? And then he goes higher when saying "CAN YOU SCREAM FOR ME?!" While encouraging everyone to follow him in his chants.

Lets just say that he gets a surprise visit while preparing to sing,and its a female. I will say nothing more,but when you see her,you will understand who it is.

These are great for enjoying Nils vocals,just him,his microphone and a backing track. This cover will blow you away!
My recommendations for Northward,are basically the entire album,is packed with good songs,but the ones with a music video is: While Love Died, NORTHWARD - Storm In A Glass (OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO).
You will love this songs though: Northward - Get What You Give, Northward - Drifting Islands, Northward -Paragon (a beautiful masterpiece by Floor and Jurn Viggo) Northward - Let Me Out (My personal favourite,you can hear Jurn Viggo counting down at the very start,and then it just KICKS OFF in high energy!) Northward - Big Boy (i could have mentioned the entire album,but this will be my last recommendation,this song is soo good it deserves a music video!) You will become addicted to Floors and Jurn Viggos sound. 1 song is all it takes,and to see her bring the sass you should just start off with While Love Died.
Pagan's Mind is awesome! Some other tracks that could be fun are "Intermission", "God's Equation", or "Alien Kamikaze". Lot of good stuff from these guys!

Yeah! I'm sure someone has told me about this band with Floor since I started doing Nightwish videos but I totally forgot and was shocked to learn 😱😂 Definitely will have to check them out one day too!
This was the first song I heard from them 10+ years ago. Was instantly my favorite band. The guitarist with the long hair passed away a few years ago from complications to a brain tumor.
That's so sad. 😕 I can see why they're you're favorite. They're awesome. I definitely have to check out more by them.

Pagan's Mind is absolutely awesome! Been a favourite band of mine forever! Very underappreciated. They're coming to play at ProgPower USA this year. Definitely check out more from them! ;)
