    Ballad songs here in the Philippines, especially in the 90s and early 2000s, tend to be rambly because they usually tell a story through their songs. Like this one, it's more like a love letter that was sang. In the Philippines, a great singer should also be a great storyteller, not just pure vocalist. If I remember correctly, even Regine said it before.

    • @jabbo0004
      @jabbo0004 7 дней назад +12

      @@bluehorizon5640 Exactly. And I think its also because Tagalog is diffrent from english and chinese so telling the story thru singing is also different, and its actually base on how we actually tell a story in Tagalog, and the reason why it is rambly, if that makes any sense. And in this song, Regine focused not only on her vocals, she is also a great storyteller.

    • @bluehorizon5640
      @bluehorizon5640 6 дней назад +4

      @jabbo0004 Yes I think so too. Words/sentences in Tagalog tend to be longer than in English too. That's why when Tagalog is translated in English it usually gets shorter. And probably why 90s and early 2000s ballad songs are also "rambly" because they use more formal or deep Tagalog words (which is usually longer) unlike these days it's shortened.

    I think this type of music is for cultured singers and music lover. Vocally Regine is untouchable. Maestro Michel Legrand once said and I qoute. "I use to have only one favorite singer i.e. Barbra now I have two" among many other compliments he said. RIP maestro.

      @ian_kpc i think she's doing great considering she grew up in Canada and is listening to Filipino artists. They're all studying how talented the singers are and that after watching a few more clips they shot in one day they watched several clips to learn and try for their next class. She's an amazing teacher and the student is a great rising vocalist. It looks like this is their vocal break and just chilling studying what the students influences are so yhe teacher can understand how to make the future lessons better. She's an amazing teacher and vocalist.

    1. What Kind of Fool Am I (Twenty concert; red gown)
    2. Sometime, Somewhere (Ryan Cayabyab concert; green gown)
    3. Say That You Love Me (Lani Misalucha concert)
    4. Piece of Sky (pink gown)
    5. Love Story (Where Do I Begin)
    6. Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin (Martin & Regine concert)
    7. Kailangan Kita ( Martin & Regine concert)
    8. Broadway Medley ( Martin & Regine concert)
    9. Light of A Million Mornings (Bantay Bata concert)
    10. On The Wings of Love (One Night With Regine concert)
    Bonus:
    10. What Kind of Fool Am I (R30 concert; not her best, but this shows just how immensely revered Regine is)
    11. Written in The Sand (BBC Millenium 2000 broadcast; not exactly live, but this was an epic production. She sang it live at her R2K concert)
    There are countless other performances where she blew the roof off of any venue. But they were just "another day at the office" for her.

    Hi! Perhaps the reason why this song is not updated so to speak is because it was popularized by another singer Nonoy Zuñiga in the eighties and was written by a respected national composer Ryan Cayabyab is why Regine somehow has to be faithful to the original version with her signature vocal acrobatics. I also feel that this long song is best appreciated if you know the lyrics of how someone so in love feels this way that day and night these lovers find the need to be together always. This is my go to karaoke song! It’s fun to play with the melody. Not sure if Regine has a video of “How could you leave” but that original song is her take on how Mariah would attack a song with do much belting! 😊

    This is a ballad from the 80s that’s why it feels dated. The composer is Ryan Cayabyab, a Filipino national artist. I get what you mean about the melody, bec that’s how Sir Ryan writes his songs. It’s melodically free if that makes sense.
    I am suggesting Regine and Martin’s Boadway Medley. I think you’ll like that performance from them.

    This song was originally in the male voice sung by Filipino balladeer Nonoy Zuniga. This is a typical format for many Filipino ballads, especially this one which has a good melodic tone and romantic lyrics. In the current era when there are no serenades anymore, everything too fast paced, and oftentimes senseless lyrics, being able to re-visit this older Pilipino songs is a good reminder what good music was truly like. That is why it truly helps, especially when you react to Filipino ballads, try to find the english translation then you will understand better why it is being sung as such.
    Also Filipino word conjugations tend to be quite long words so it is often needed to carry on a longer melodic flow.
    MS. RVA has been a inspiration to many of the current vocalists especially those who do belting performances.
    MS. RVA's staying power in the music industry is quite a feat of its own. She is very suportive of new/other artists as well, gladly doing duets or group performances.

    Araw-Gabi 1986. It's an old song
    Nonoy Zuniga's song "Araw Gabi," written by Ryan Cayabyab, was released in 1986 and is one of his most iconic ballads. Its heartfelt lyrics and melody made it a classic in Filipino music. The song showcases Zuniga's powerful vocal range and emotional depth, contributing to its enduring popularity.
    Regine Velasquez performed her rendition of "Araw Gabi" in 2004, and it was featured on her album Covers, Vol. 1. Her version brought a fresh take to the Ryan Cayabyab classic with her signature vocal prowess and heartfelt delivery. It became one of the highlights of the album, showcasing her ability to reinterpret OPM (Original Pilipino Music) standards while staying true to their essence.

Regine inspired alot of the modern belters/singers in the Philippines (Morisette, katrina velarde , GiGi to name a few) and seeing them cover Regine's song shows how much the singing techniques have progressed.

    As a Filipino, this is a typical Filipino tone, a motherly to romantic ethnic Filipino way of singing.

    To give you an idea about this song, this is a cover by Regine Velasquez in her 2004 album "Covers". The song is originally sung by Nonoy Zuñiga - a Filipino balladeer. I consider this more of a singer-songwriter type of music. Hence, the kind of roller coaster dynamic of the song. I love Regine's original version. In this video, she is much older already and her voice is fuller and thicker. Nevertheless, she's still my Queen and sang this version amazingly!

    As a Filipino in the Philippines, it's just my opinion but growing up I noticed Filipinos tend to like complicated songs, coz growing up I noticed during events with intermission numbers, contests, or even during casual karaoke sessions people would ALWAYS ALWAYS choose one of the hardest songs to sing (esp songs with super high notes) just to prove they can do it. 😅

    It is because this piece was written in the 80's and was given an interpretation of a Pop star ... The song was dedicated to a family member and was c0mposed almost spontaneously as that of washing a plate after meal

    You must understand that the general population in the Philippines are musically inclined, hence technically difficult songs tend to be the all time favs.
