What I learned to climb stronger without getting stronger

  • I figured something else out that's improving my climbing but ISN'T based on getting stronger. Rather, it's more so based on leveraging the strength I already have by putting my body in the right positions.
Sure, this is another technique-is-more-important-than-strength rock climbing video, but understanding this specific technique was new to me. And as I've learned it, perhaps it's something you can take away too.
The specific move and position I learned in this video that made me realize that I'm already strong enoughis THE DEEP LOCK-OFF.
For most of use humanoids, being in a fully flexed, deeply locked-off position is a much stronger position than a relaxed arm position.
If you don't know what a lock-off is, imagine doing a pull up and reaching your chin above the bar as high as you can - that's the deep locked-off position; the more bent the arm and lat, the stronger the position.
ANYWAY - I learned just how impactful that position was in this video and I plan on using it as yet another tool to conquer difficult climbs. Hope you enjoy it.
