    Imagine being in that crowd and singing together, with one voice and a single spirit. It must have been very moving.

    My daughter was there and she said, later in the evening of second day, before ending of the Song Festival, singers were demanding to sing it again. And again. And again. On 4th time orchestra did not play any more and conductor also left. But everyone knew how to sing, where to come in... and they sang. And most if the public also sang...

    Just wanna share my singable relay translation via English into the language of an ancient invader 😅 Love this song way too much 🙂
    Pszczoła obleci za kwiatem kwiat,
    i leci łączyć się z rojem;
    burzowa chmura spowija świat,
    a ona łączy się z rojem.
    Tysiące ich upada w drodze swej,
    tysięcy wraca do domu więcej;
    rzuciwszy smutki i znoje
    zlatuje łączyć się z rojem.
    Duszo ma, duszo, jak w czasie prób
    wzdychasz do ojczyzny swojej;
    czy dom masz tu*, czy z obcych dróg,
    tęsknisz do ojczyzny swojej!
    Gdy szarpie tobą śmiertelny wiatr
    i kul nad tobą śmiertelny grad,
    niepomna na smutki i znoje
    spieszysz do ojczyzny swojej.

    English translation:
    *It Flies Towards the Beehive*
    It flies from flower to flower
    and flies towards the beehive;
    and a thundercloud rises,
    it flies towards the beehive.
    And thousands fall to the road,
    thousands more reach home
    and carry away the toil and care
    and fly towards the beehive.
    Soul, oh soul, at a difficult time -
    how you long for the fatherland;
    whether you are at home, whether in a foreign land -
    how you yearn for the fatherland
    And let the wind of death blow against you
    and the bullet of death fly towards you:
    you will forget death and care
    and will hurry towards the fatherland!
    Soul, oh soul, at a difficult time -
    how you long for the fatherland;
    whether you are at home, whether in a foreign land -
    :;: how you yearn for the fatherland :;:

    • @covkid52
      @covkid52 8 лет назад +15

      +eksiarvamus Not at all. It's about a person trying to get back to their roots which is why it resonates so much with ex-patriate Estonians and Välis Eestlased in general.

    • @eksiarvamus
      @eksiarvamus 8 лет назад +6

      covkid52 Of course its wider meaning is that, but the lyrics itself are about a bee.

    " Вона летить до вулика" . ....
    Пееп Сарапік - Юхан Лійв.
    З квітки на квітку порхаючи,
    Бджілки літають над полем.
    І на грозу не зважаючи,
    Прагнуть до рідного дому.
    Не долітаючи падають,
    Інші ж поселяться в вулику ,
    Силу і впевненість їм дають
    Рідний поріг, рідна вулиця .
    Душа, ти душа, ночі і дні
    Разом з своєю родиною .
    Вдома живеш , чи в чужині -
    Ти тужиш за Батьківщиною!
    Нехай віє вітер проти нас,
    Нехай нам загрожують силою.
    Ми вистоїм твердо, а прийде час,
    з'єднаємось із Батьківщиною.
    Душа, ти душа, ночі і дні
    Разом з своєю родиною.
    Вдома живеш , чи в чужині -
    Ти тужиш за Батьківщиною .
    Ljubov Laur ( ukraina keeles )

    I will give a raw translation of the lyrics, and you can decide whether it is about a bee or something more :)
    It flies from the flower to the flower,
    and it flies towards the beehive,
    and when the thundercloud is rising
    it flies towards the beehive.
    And thousands fall on their way,
    but thousands still reach home,
    and take with them the trouble and the care,
    and fly towards the beehive!
    In the hard times, also you, my soul,
    how you sigh for your fatherland!
    Whether you are at home or abroad,
    how you desire towards your fatherland!
    Even if the deadly wind blows towards you,
    even if the deadly bullet flies towards you:
    you will forget the death and the care,
    and you will hurry to your fatherland!
    In the hard times, also you, my soul,
    how you sigh for your fatherland!
    Whether you are at home or abroad,
    how you desire towards your fatherland!

      I was in the choir for this and rehearsed in small practice choirs with him in the run-up to Laulupidu '14. When you get close to him, you detect the merest glint in his eye betraying the sublime joy in his soul ... Very Estonian.
