    ABOUT BEARDBRAND
    Beardbrand is a men’s grooming company that focuses on beard care. We are changing the way to society views beardsmen by shifting beards to a more neutral to positive connotation. We post new videos every Thursday and would love your subscription. Beard on!
    To comb your beard you'll need to start off with some good quality combs. There is a difference between a cheap comb and an expensive comb. For the difference of price and the amount you'll comb your beard, it's a well worth piece of investment.
    Basically, you'll want to use the combs to separate the hairs and give them room to breathe. Going through the various layers of your beard comb in an upward motion. After separating the beard hairs, you will then brush the hair back down.
    I'd advise you to not leave your beard in the "fluffed up" position as it's not necessarily a natural look. You can use a boar's hair brush, your hands, or a comb to push the beard hair down.
    At Beardbrand, we sell some of the best combs on the market made out of cellulose acetate which is a plastic made from planets. They start off as blanks and then are hand cut and don't leave the same jagged edges that an extruded plastic has.
    Other guys also swear by wooden combs, ox horns combs, or even metal combs.

    I know this is a bit late, but I am working on becoming a Beardsman myself and these videos are very helpful. They make me feel confident because I know there are guys that were in the same place that I'm currently in. The growth process is definitely annoying, but thankfully there are beard products that help with the itchy horribleness. Cheers!

    Thanks Eric! Your vids have given me confidence to grow my beard behind one month. I am a week away from three months of growth. I am pleasantly surprised how full and good it looks. Now I am contemplating what is the best length for me. I have not received any negative comments yet at work. Thanks to your suggestion,I pay close attention to my professional work attire which I definitely think has had a positive impact with keeping the negativity at bay. Your Beard Oil hasn't heard either. Keep it coming and beard on man!

      PeacePipeMan Dude! Awesome work. I know at the 2 to 3 month stage you are really starting to fill in and have a nice full looking beard. If you aren't getting much negative feedback I'd definitely try growing for it a little longer. It seems that in today's world the 4 to 5 month beard is really the sweet spot. It is also awesome to hit the yeard once in your life.

    To be honest I've had a beard since I was about 16 and I am 37 now . I have never used any oils or special beard shampoos and stuff like that . I just use a stick of Irish spring in the shower and a regular oval brush that your girlfriend/wife would use on their hair haha just borrow hers when she isn't looking. I prefer bar soap because it makes it feel thicker . because for me shampoo and conditioner makes it feel thin and oily

    I grew mine for 4 months and had some great length. One day I comb it out, neck out. Normally I comb down but this time I went the other way. Once I did that it Frizzed really bad and when I combed it back down it would not look good all the curls started to pop out. I wound up cutting it off because it was a mess.

    What if your beard is so curly that when you run the comb through it always get caught on hairs? I seem to always yank hairs out with combing.

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  5 лет назад +1

      For this, I'd definitely say try starting with the bottom of your beard, with little strokes of the comb working your way up your beard (combing downwards). This should help slowly work out the tangles.

    Eric...have you ever done a video about the pros/cons of blow drying your beard? As my beard has gotten longer, I've noticed that if I blow dry it directly out of the shower, it tends to be more manageable during the rest of the day. But I've often wondered if blow drying my beard with heat causes damage. My wife's blow dryer does have a "cool" option, which I normally will finish with after hitting it with the heat.

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  9 лет назад +1

      +BigRedYeti A blow dryer, when used properly is an awesome tool. I've used it everyday for a period of a few months and didn't have any split ends or damage. It's all about how you use it. I haven't done a blow dryer video specifically - but I think it'd be a great topic.

      It's all in the lighting. I bought some lights that shine forward & down on me, rather than dealing with side lighting or back lighting.
      That's why it's important to not get so worked up about how your beards look - because sometimes it's just asinine things like where the light is coming from.

    Eric, I don't know if you got asked this question or not but here it is. Why is it that when I comb my beard every morning, I lose roughly about 5 to 10 beard hairs. Is it normal? Hey man I was wondering if you could speak on dominate sides of your facial hair and beard waves not so much a whole video just a quick run through.

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  9 лет назад

      What do you mean by this. I'm sorry I'm a little confused by the dominate sides.

    • @beau2bourque
      @beau2bourque 9 лет назад

      Like in the sense of how you are right or left handed you have a dominate side. I no doubt grow a full thick beard but I find my right side to be slightly thicker and I'm also right handed I had looked into this online and found it to be a plausible idea just wondering your thoughts and expert oponion

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  9 лет назад

      Ah I see! My right side is thinner than my left side and I'm right handed - so there would need to be a scientific study done on it to filter through all the anecdotal evidence.

    My biggest things is trying to get my sideburns to lay flat. I've tried different things but nothing seems to work.

      I should probably add that it's curly and wavy. My beard itself is also wavy

      dusty livingstom Try this technique for the sideburns. Add a little bit of product to it for hold: ruclips.net/video/ijWMIhnluW4/видео.htmlm20s

    I've had a beard for more than 4 years however I've never actually 'grown' a beard. I started maybe 4months ago and therefore I'm a noob. My question, which I hope you can help with, is: I keep trimming the hair beneath my chin as it keeps outgrowing the hair along and above my chin and jaw line. So because of that the overall length of my beard hasn't exceeded more than an inch. Getting a bit frustrated because when I don't trim, the whole look is messy no matter what I do to try keep it in shape. I am a patient person... Am I being not so patient?

    I like cellulose acetate; but I would say the best, is a wooden comb made from cedar. Especially if you use beard oil, it develops a nice coating and hydrates your beard with each brushing.

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  9 лет назад

      SoCalKoso Good to hear. Since I have a thinner beard, a finer tooth comb is my preference and wood combs seem to be wider generally speaking. It's always good to test multiple materials.

    I like combing my beard a lot throughout the day. Is it ok to just softly comb it? I know with a boar brush 1-2 times a day max. But what about a comb? It’s almost like my fidget thingy haha

    When should a comb be used in comparison to a brush?

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  9 лет назад

      Adam McKnight I personally like to use a brush to finish my beard and give it the final look. Where as I use combing for getting out the tangles and lining everything up into place.

    Nice vid Eric. Was hoping to get a better view of how you're combing down. Are you going straight down? Is the comb touching your chin? What's your path??

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  9 лет назад +1

      Navid Aberg When I comb down it's a straight down motion. I try not to follow my chin towards the neck.

      Dude...You should go back to the way you look in this video--short scalp hair and longer full beard. You look better this way than you currently do.
      I am just sayin. That's my opinion anyways.

    • @Beardbrand
      @Beardbrand  9 лет назад

      rainbow20112011 Ya I definitely feel the shorter hair. Just giving the longer hair an honest shot. This particular hair style I could nail like 25% of the time.

      So do you plan to grow your hair short and beard longer again sometime in the future?
      It's really your choice, my opinion means nothing. Do whatever you feel is right.
