Something that may support this theory is that after the part of Fancy Shoes where he gets hit by a bus and you hear the mechanical noises, we get the line, "you can fix a robot, buff out the dents" as if it's in direct response to the bus accident. You can't fix a person, but you can fix a robot.
I never thought about fancy shoes that way, thats really interesting
OH MY GOD, IT ACTUALLY MAKES A LOT OF SENSE ??
plus it’s nice to meet someone as autistic as I am about the silly goofy robot band :3
I don’t know why I clicked on this video knowing nothing about this band but I enjoy your theory and the way you talk!!
I really thought "fantastic shoes" was just fun but but it's got some deep lore
I LOVE THIS
I’VE BEEN OUT OF MY SPG BRAINROT FOR A HOT SECOND BUT AAA THIS MIGHT DRAG ME BACK
I love this headcanon/theory! Keep up the awesome videos about the silly goofy robot band (and I’d love to read ur fanfic about this headcanon)
What’s the fanfic’s name
This is a very lovely theory! I love headcanons like this and you argued some good points! Also your videos are lovely and you are lovely too!
See, this is the thing I like about SPG! The lore is so weird and slapdash (positive) that you can do stuff like this! I was kinda skeptical at first, but this is now gospel as far as I'm concerned.
highkey SPG's been kinda on my radar for a while but I just took the dive today and the first thing I thought of when reading the lore was "if you told me this had been written by the same people who wrote the TF2 lore I'd believe you," because of that exact happy-go-lucky absurdism you're talking about!
I love this theory!
Hey Owlhari. I too am very autistic about Steam Powered Giraffe and it's so good to see someone else out there possibly more autistic than I am when it comes to them. I love your videos and your perspective is refreshing and fantastic. I genuinely look forward to your videos and it's a delight when they come out. Thank you for doing what you do. Keep it up!
I really like this theory
Thank you very much for your videos, they always cheer me up! :D
This makes the (probably autistic) lore fiend in me so happy. Good theory!
(This is such a long comment I'm so sorry) First off, this video is amazing! Your videos never fail to amaze me. I've always found it intriguing with the Hatchy Sam thing but I have a few other things to point out, and I apologise for the fact that this isn't exactly coherent:
During the "I'm in the path of a bus" section, notice the pronouns. He's not talking about the mouse anymore, he's talking about himself. Also I don't think I've seen anyone bring up the fact that the shoes wouldn't actually fit him if the wearer was a mouse, so that's probably a big indicator that it's actually him. The line "It's just like you to ignore simple truths" is also interesting. In the video with Cav on the art of kayfabe they bring up the fact that the audience actively pretends that the actors Bunny and David for example are actually the robot characters Rabbit and The Spine respectively. This also applies to Sam and Hatchworth, the audience automatically assumes that it's true that they're not the same person. But they *are* the same person. The audience actively ignores the simple truth that they are one in the same and Hatchworth calls them out for it. The line "You can teach a robot how to dance, you can't teach a pair of shorts how to pants" (and this is such a stretch but work with me here) Is Sam speaking through Hatchworth, saying that though he was taught how to be a robot, but he's not *actually* a robot. He's human. And the section after that up until "Still you're only human" is Hatchworth saying that he's still human after everything. He saw himself as a robot during his time as Sam, but after all he's still human. There's probably so much that I missed because my train of thought derailed but that's just some stuff I thought of! Again, this video is awesome, and I can't wait to see more from you!
I DIDN'T REALISE IT WAS *THAT* LONG I AM SO SORRY I JUST ACCIDENTALLY WROTE AN ENTIRE ESSAY
