So im writing a fallout based dnd game here and using the robots as a plot device and I may use some of these lore bits for them too. I have not read the comics or really anything aside from the music and a few of the videos. But this changes how I see some of the carictors.

Also the fact Max was only 18. That's really really young! Was he a jerk? Absolutely. Is he accountable for his actions? Yes. But he was still one year out of teenagerhood and had become a deeply messed up human being. His dad abused him, he had no real friends because the ones he was with were controlled by fear, he was probably never taught to be responsible for his actions as his athletic prowess helped whatever he did slide so the high school could keep their star player (even to the point of probably neglecting his education so he could stay on the team, leaving him with no other skills to fall back on). Even though he is worshiped and feared, I blame the adults who failed this boy and let him grow into the monster he was leading others to point fingers at him for being bad, end of story, nothing deeper. But he DID have depth, he showed a vulnerable side of himself after the nerds revealed it was them scaring him. But that moment is cut short, the theatre pulls his strings and makes him die before we can get a closer look. So when he comes back and has control over other characters, objects, he can teleport and has become supernaturally strong, that's him fighting back, taking control of his life finally only to be punished for it. And the way he went about reasserting control for himself was definitely not okay, but what else would you expect of someone who was abused and neglected while also being shielded from consequences of his own actions? He was raised to be a gruff, dumb jock for the adults around him with no other expectations or options. He has so little control he felt the need to strike fear into the hearts of his friends so they wouldn't leave him. That's a sign of a deeply lonely character who has resorted to the only coping mechanisms at hand. And even through his period of having control, he was then according to this video, controlled by another entity. He never had agency in his own narrative. I'd be angry too.

Personally I viewed the framing of Richie trying to run off stage was him escaping through the halls of hatchetfield. another thing is the line "until another richie comes along," max felt replaced, richie being named the heart and soul of the nighthawks, having his friends. all his rage from his rules and hierarchy being upturned, richie was the final straw. not another bully.

He is a ferro fluid coated octopus themed bot designed to perform at the aquarium (like how spg did at the zoo) but the bot got fired for looking too creepy and ‘giving kids nightmares’ despite the bot, Inky, being an absolute sweetie
