Lol. Some like it, some hate it. It us actually similar to the exhaust tip on some Porsche models. When I first saw it on the Si, I did not like it as much as the dual exhaust tips on the Civic Sport Hatchback, but those look good on the hatchback body style, and this one matches the Sedan body. The stylist know what they are doing.
I just picked up my first Honda a week ago. I got the Honda Civic sport sedan in white. My only 2 complaints are that it doesn’t have xm and no fold down cup holders in the rear.
Ricardo Palma It’s a really fun daily driver. It’s not the fastest, but you’re getting a civic, you know what you’re getting. But, I don’t have any negatives rn. It has the perfect amount of technology, space, and gas mileage. So nothing to complain about
I and my wife a 2019 Civic Sport in Rallye Red. She has scraped all four wheels by parking too close. Replacement wheels: $600.00 each. I am 78, 275 pounds. I love this car. 2.0 liter.
Best Car Reviews on RUclips! I've been waiting for this Car for what feels like forever now, so glad you did a video on it. Liked it before I even watched it, preciate the reviews Mike, keep up the awesome content, oh, and those Night, Lighting videos too. Great stuff
I just bought this car, same color. Really nice car, hopeful it lasts a long time! Only real complaint is it is tight in the backseat and obviously this is better for gas mileage. But it has everything I needed which was just a smaller car with great mileage and I needed the Apple CarPlay and backup camera and this met all criteria! Great car, looks great, drives smooth.
No. They're actually slowly taking them away. The Civic is one model that has always had a MT option. There is a website that monitors manual trans cars every model year and the trend indicates there are less and less cars offered with MT.
Picked up a new Corolla XSE in October, but after spending some time in a friends new Civic, totally regretted getting the Corolla. The Civic had so many more features, the interior looked more premium, it's turbo, and not to mention the front end looked a lot better. Toyota in general just seemed to hold back on adding or changing too much, it's frustrating. They are reliable sure, But I just couldn't shake the feeling of getting more for your money when it came to comparing the two.
B1ackout Don’t regret your Corolla purchase too much bud... it may not be as edgy with the video game styling of the CIVIC but it is a GREAT car that will hold it’s value very well and if you & your friend both keep these two vehicles a while, you can compare & see which one holds up better over time.
What happened between 2018 and 2019 with the mpg? Did Honda have to do some EPA regulation adjustments? Went from 39-42 mpg (depending on civic) down to 35-38.
MSolved Tutoring In 2016, the mileage for the 2.0 Civic was 41hwy/31city. The turbo was 42/32. In 2017, the government rating system changed and the 2.0 lost 1 mpg. Not sure what happened for 2018-2019 but it looks like the 2.0 has been re-rated to 38hwy with the CVT and 36hwy with the manual. I assume the 18 inch tires may have something to do with this
In my opinion, this is the Civic to by right now. At least until Honda fixes the issues with the 1.5T. Which is kind of a shame because the 1.5T is such a gem of an engine.
@@Hiker_41 The 2.0T does not have this problem. The problem is not because of the turbocharger, but because the engine for some reason takes forever (relatively) to warm up. Weirdly, it's not affecting the Accord hardly at all. And odds are if you buy a 1.5T Honda, you'd be fine. But in my honest opinion, it's the Automaker's responsibility to work out/fix any unforeseen bugs so they can take care of their customers. No automaker is immune to that, not even Honda.
@@Hiker_41 That's what I'd do, just hold off for a bit if you can. Honda has a fix for it coming in December. So I'd wait maybe a year or so to see if it fixes the problem. But you could also buy the Civic in this video. If it helps Honda now sells an engine block heater for $80 (on their website) which I imagine should really help with the problem. I live in the Northeast as well BTW.
Michael S All DI engines have some form of oil dilution. Also if you’re talking about the dilution issues they’re having in China remember its in the northern part of the region where it’s very cold and they do not travel very far plus their engines are manufactured in China. Here in the states the 1.5l in the Civic are made in Ohio so quality control may be higher. However my 2017 Civic coupe with a 1.5l didn’t experience any noticeable dilution... I also live in south Florida and commute 30miles to work one way. Also haven’t seen any new CRV around here with engine issues. Honda has issued a recall on the CRV in 5 states and will expand to more states in the future. I also noticed the dilution issue seems to be worst with automatic transmission Bc it’s probably keeping engine rpms low. All 2019 CRV will have the fix from the factory.
Michael S You’re welcome. I think it’s affecting CRV more then the Civics. And I think it also blown out of proportion. I’m not saying there isn’t a issue but a lot of variables come into to play. We really don’t know how each individual handles their car. Do they warm it up? Do they go wide open throttle 10sec after a cold start? All engines need a proper warm up in very cold climate...especially DI. DI use a much higher psi in the fuel injectors. Oil that sits need time to get sucked up by the oil pump and then needs to travel throughout the engine...which can easily take 5mins especially in cool climates. If you want my honest opinion if you’re worried about the oil dilution situation...look at the new 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback. Has no turbo, port and direct injection, a actual first gear for launch on their cvt and excellent safety features.
I was interested in this car but idk...there's so many things in the interior that seem really cheap. I sat in one at a dealership and it was comfortable enough, but it was getting late and I didn't get a good look around. Thanks to your video I see some glaring flaws that I want to check in person the next time I go to the dealer.
At this price point, it's hard to beat with all it has. If not, and you can afford it, maybe look at the Civic Touring Sedan or Civic Sport Hatchback. Or even the new Accord Sport Sedan. I heard the 1.5 Turbo has more guts than the one in the Civic, though the more expensive 2.0L is like a detuned Civic Type engine.
I get it. The sport is a new trim but can we get a review that isn’t based on only the lx or sport. Like an ext or exl review ? Would be very appreciated!
I bought this same car in black, with a 6 speed transmission. I paid 21,000 for the car than 21,500 after the fees. Did I get a good deal? Just curious.
Great review and walkaround. Too bad they left same OS and UI (looks and feels mega outdated), only improvement on infotainment unit is knob and buttons
I like these wheels in the darker gunmetsl finish way better than the two options extra cost options wheels, and the 19" black HFP package wheels available last year.
I like these wheels better than the two factory extra cost wheels or the 19" HFP package wheels offered for 2018. Those wheels are pretty expensive, but you may find them cheaper on eBsy or various online vendors, or check Honda forums fir someone with a Sport Hatchback that git aftermarket wheels willing to part with their OEM wheels.
You are far better off buying aftermarket rims, it would be significantly cheaper than what honda will charge you, same with all car companies. in my old 2011 Fusion sport, when the redesigned fusions came out in 13, one of them had some sweet black wheels. I went to Ford to see how much it would cost to replace my wheels with those...they wanted $1500. I went on NTB's website, found some black rims that looked better 120 a pop. was like $600 total with labor. Those rims held up, look like the day I bought them still (my niece drives it now, I sold it to her).
Does the automatic have more features? Because I'm getting one and it has heated seats and whatnot.. just seems like there was more buttons as well.. I didnt get the car yet but yeah
I haven’t seen a video where it shows u how to check your PSI? I didn’t find it on the manual either 😲 I live in NY where there are potholes EVERYWHERE and have to be mindful of my tire pressure. Any suggestions?
Yes. In Canada, you can get the Sport Touring Hatchback with the 6 speed, however due the special agreement between Honda, and the Canada dealers, you can only buy it if you like e in Canada, and the warranty is only effective in Canada. Also, it's just the same 6 Speed shifter as the base Sport Hatchback, not the higher performance shifter from the Si, or Type R...
What happened with the turbos? The K20 engine is bad azz though, my 2010 civic si vtec still running strong with no problems to engine or transmission just clutch went out at 211,000 miles
It does surprise me that the sport trim gets the same engine as the base model. It would probably sell more if it was available with the 1.5L Turbo @ 174hp instead of the 2.0L @158hp. Hell, give an option for a manual and automatic Si engine.
Hi does the seats are the same as 2018 because in 2018 for me seats feel more confortable and more softer. Sellers says both have same seats. Is it me feel the difference or they are bult differently ?
The cloth seats are supposedly the same for all Civic models from EX trim and below, except for thus new Sport Sedan and Coupe model that has simulated leather trim on the left and right sides, and the rear seat center panel. Unknown if this Sport seats have improved support. The trim levels above EX have leather seats.
Horn is GARBAGE. Why Honda won't just put the same good horn that's in the new Accord in all it's models is beyond me. Great car otherwise! Rims are gorgeous! Excellent video as always Mike!
The Si gets a louder horn, I test drove one earlier in the year. It’s the only complaint I have about my 16 LX, horn is awful and with age just gets worse
6 16CivicMT yeah strangely enough, the Si gets the CR-V which has some punch to it. Can’t imagine it would cost them that much more to throw it in all trims of the Civic. It’s a safety feature. No one is going to hear that moped horn on the interstate lol
I hate the new locking sounds for the new accord. It sounds so weak. Someone locked their 18 accord and that weak horn sound came out i was like hell no, i like that "manly" horn when i lock my 09 accord.
It is slotted between the Base LX and EX trim levels with lots of features from the EX and special Sport trim appearance and performance wheels/tires, steering and suspension, with some features the Sport Hatchback dies not have, at a lower price.
This Sport Sedan model has the new updated/upgraded 7" touch screen radio with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the newly added physical buttons and volume knob on the left side. It has 180 watts with 8 speakers, woofers in the lower doors and the tweeters at the top. Thus is the same system in the higher Civic EX and EXL trim levels. The Civic Sport hatchback still has the base LX radio for 2019, at least at this time. That is the 5" non touch radio, 160 watt 4 full range speaker system without separate tweeter. The Civic Touring Sedan has the new radio with a 540 watt 10 speaker system with added trunk mounted subwoofer and dash mounted center channel speaker. The Civic Sport Hatchback has 2 additional small surround sound speakers in the rear roof pillars.
*Update for Honda Civics without the high powered sound systems like the EX-L, Touring, Sport Hatchback Touring, Si... Alpine has a factory upgrade for the Civics and Accords for $745 that consist of a 4x45 watt amp and 120 watt subwoofer that mounts under the right front seat. It works with the base radio, or aftermarket radios. It is available at www.crutchfield.com or local Alpine car stereo authorized dealers
i noticed the grille is completely new, it doesn't have the stripe in the middle like on the hatch-si. I wonbder if it is in one piece or the top part can be removed like on the 2016 sedan
All the late model Civics should have the same grill, with the Sport and Hatchback models, Si and Type R finished in black. I don't know what stripe you are referring to, unless you are talking about the previous Civic.. If you are not in the US, there are differences in the trim level names and equipment in other countries.
I watched the video again at that point, several times. The grill.looks all black to me. Are you sure you are not seeing a reflection on the shiny black finish of the grille?
jjacob25101 yes it is all black, but of you look closely in the 2016+ (chrome or black) there is a thin horizontal bar in the lower part (grille base). On the 2019 it is all open and there are 2 vertical splitters on the sides of the opening. In china the grille was the same, but there is no update for 2019. All this because i would like to update to the gloss black 2016 base, but keeping my chrome top.
Be careful, my 2016 CIVIC EX needs a new AC compressor. Just out of 3/36000 warranty. Other have the same or similar problem. The dealer is asking for $1,600.
There is a lockout solenoid on the transmission that prevents you from shifting into reverse. I was worried with that 6MT on my TL but it shifts right into 6th no Problem
This model trim level is not meant for the more entusiast driver who would get the Si with the much bigger spoiler. They are two different models fir different types of drivers. Also, putting the bigger spoiler on this model would cause insurance cost, and consume more fuel. ;)
I believe this Civic Sport Sedan and Coupe has the same wheels/tires, suspension and steering as the Sport Hatchback models without the turbo engine. The Si and Type R have stiffer performance suspensions setups. Aside from the different body style configuration, they are basically the same, with the exception of a more subdued, less aggressive looking lower front and rear fascia, some different, upgraded trim in the Sport Sedan and Coupe, different rear spoiler and exhaust tip due to the body style, and the base Sport Hatchback dies not have the keyless entry and push button start and upgraded stereo system for 2019, at least at this time. Also as stated, the non turbo 2.0L engine with about 20 less HP, but still decent, with less maintenance and hassles for the reliability and longevity of the turbo with care to warm up the care well and cool down before shut off for hard driving runs. The Sport Sedan and Coupe has a slightly different target consumer than the more enthusiast oriented Sport Hatchback driver.

6 16CivicMT yeah strangely enough, the Si gets the CR-V which has some punch to it. Can’t imagine it would cost them that much more to throw it in all trims of the Civic. It’s a safety feature. No one is going to hear that moped horn on the interstate lol
One horn is cheaper than 2....
This looks a good solution for less than $20:

I hate the new locking sounds for the new accord. It sounds so weak. Someone locked their 18 accord and that weak horn sound came out i was like hell no, i like that "manly" horn when i lock my 09 accord.
Did you planned to do a Toyota Mirai review ?
That stick though
😓😄
blue coture 😂😂😂😂
Is this trim lifted a bit compared to the other trims?
It is slotted between the Base LX and EX trim levels with lots of features from the EX and special Sport trim appearance and performance wheels/tires, steering and suspension, with some features the Sport Hatchback dies not have, at a lower price.
Awesome video. Thanks.
I have a 2016 and I am trying to figure out if it is worth trading in.
go! I got 2016 ex and now the all black/black out with 18 rims of 2019 sport! woth it!!!
I just traded my 2016 LX for this one :) do it if you can get a good deal!
@@parktowers9404 i have an 2016 ex too!!
How many speakers in sound system? Where located?
Thank you so much for the Alpine PSU-300CVC info, that is a mod I will do when I have my 2016/18
i noticed the grille is completely new, it doesn't have the stripe in the middle like on the hatch-si.
@@jjacob25101 you can clearly see that the grill eis different from the 2018-2018 from @1:42
I watched the video again at that point, several times.
All this because i would like to update to the gloss black 2016 base, but keeping my chrome top.
does it have remote car fnder? Like to unlock it?
for the love of god, can anyone tell me what is that SYMBOL in top middle of the led infotainment screen.
please and thank you
The yellow hand bro!!!!!!
Nice little car
wow, that's a great video!
where can I buy the black grills.I want to put it on my 2017 civic
eBay. Lol
Be careful, my 2016 CIVIC EX needs a new AC compressor. Just out of 3/36000 warranty. Other have the same or similar problem. The dealer is asking for $1,600.
that's a 2016 lol. the first of the new gens usually have some issues, this is a 2019.
The only thing that bothers me about this car is that there’s no rear seat arm rest.
Can you do a civic si 2019 review?
I have a 2018 civic 1.5T ex coupe, in my opinion i dont think it's worth buying this 2019 model "sport" but lacks the power
agreed, its strange to me the sport is no more powerful than the base civic model.
It will last forever if you change the oil once and awhile. Its also the base for the 2.0T in the Accord which puts out 250hp. Take your pick.
6th gear and reverse in the same section makes me feel very uncomfortable
There is a lockout solenoid on the transmission that prevents you from shifting into reverse. I was worried with that 6MT on my TL but it shifts right into 6th no Problem
Are all these cvt transmissions ?
No as you can clearly see this one is a manual
Good video .. thanks ..👍🏼🌟👍🏼🌟👍🏼🌟👍🏼🌟👍🏼🌟 ......
U got the wrong controller. U can’t turn it on from outside with that controller/key
Wind God he has a manual. Manuals don't do remote start
Nice wheel
Does it come with bigger spoiler?
This model trim level is not meant for the more entusiast driver who would get the Si with the much bigger spoiler. They are two different models fir different types of drivers. Also, putting the bigger spoiler on this model would cause insurance cost, and consume more fuel. ;)
this is like asmr lmao
Nice car indeed
Would this be the same as the hatchback?
No, the sport hatch has more power and a stiffer chassis.
