Hello Paul , thanks for the answer about the insects , the information will come in handy I've just got back from a 3 day 3 night solo camp with no food or water , so I was foraging on the coast , I did find a water stand pipe which was from a dodgy source , I had been living on wood lice , snails crabs , winkles , samphire sea beet , and sea holly roots , with some sea. Weed , it was fine for the short term , but I was eaten alive by midges I was using insect repellant it just did not work ,cheers Atb Martin ps I put all water through a life saver bottle with no ill effects cheers Martin

My mum used to candy Alexander stems. They make a lovely sweet treat, but she used to decorate some cakes with them.

No mention of permethrin on clothing against midges, mosquitoes, but more importantly against ticks

Wrap some Duct Tape around the Sleeve cuffs and leg cuffs to keep the Crawlers out of your clothing.

Paul Kirtley #AskPaulKirtley (Yes. it's just a little follow up question but I'll add the hashtag since you asked for it.)
I'm sorry I did not hear the Scandinavian brand of mosquito repellent perhaps due to the pronunciation?
I know about Mygga, djungel olja & US622 but not the one you mentioned, what country did you find it?

    Question ?
Wild foods in the UK !
Name the top 10 / 20 things NOT to put in your mouth under any circumstances ?
Eg, Causes Blindness, Death, kidney failure, ETC, ETC, ETC !!!!!!!!
Many people like me would find this interesting and useful !

Paul Kirtley What do you think ? Would you do a Video on this subject ?

    • @PaulKirtley

Owen Joseph King It's certainly worth a look Owen. I don't have video footage of all the plants I would include but I probably have all the photos I would need to create an article. I'll see what I'm in a position to do. It's definitely firmly on my to-do list in whatever form it ends up taking.

Paul Kirtley Even if you do it over the space of a tear, You can film things as and when they come into season and show them against other foods that they may be mistaken for !
I think a big worry for many people like me is "FUNGI" that is why I leave ALL Mushrooms WELL-ALONE !
BUT not only that, I have heard some absolute Nightmare stories and some of the effects are truly hideous, People needing emergency surgery to save their lives etc !

+Paul Kirtley many thanks Paul , just asking as sometimes you just need to get away for some quiet R&R but inevitably bump into someone on this crowded Isle

Great video and some nice info
The oddest thing that bit me was a spider in the UK and I had the poison line up my arm in the vein never did find the culprit as I was on an overnighter on the beach.
I use this to keep the insects off lol I look a right nana but it is a great top and mesh is fine to keep midges out.
