There is a feeling about this lovely home that makes you say aha this is the way to live.This feels right. The warmth and comfort of art ,pottery and furniture that feel like they have been collected over many years in this colorful yet calm cottage. A little whimsy here and there, I love that. The dried alliums in the pot he found at the brocante gave him such joy because they grew in their garden made me smile at his enthusiasm! The history of the natural spring near the pond where woman would come to wash the clothes ,you can just see them talking and washing on a summer day. The gardens filled with soil ready for planting ,I have no doubt it will be filled with delicious vegetables soon ! The “gym” where the children come and swing, how friendly they are. Thank you so much what a treasure you have found I enjoyed this so much.

I kept thinking, as you scanned, that This spot would make a beautiful painting, but then the next spot I would feel the same, and on & on❤. Oh my! The bedroom is inviting and comfortable. The living, needs a couch, & maybe an edit. Awkward at best. Strange pieces can be overwhelming at times. Pretty countryside.

J'ai beaucoup apprécié les commentaires de Ferry (ou Tjerk) sur l'acquisition de leur ferme et l'aménagement du gîte. Il y a de l'émotion quand il parle, et on voit qu'ils sont heureux de vivre dans leur nouvelle région d'adoption et c'est le plus important. Bravo à eux ! et je leur souhaite de belles rencontres avec les locataires du gîte.

Ook hier in oost-België ( Ostbelgien) wordt veel ouds weggegooid. Ik heb een jaar bij een tweede hands winkel gewerkt en gelukkig heb ik wat mooie dingen kunnen redden die andere zouden worden weggegooid. Ze zijn dus niet geïnteresseerd in oude dingen. Zo heb ik een set eettafelstoelen uit ongeveer 1870 gered en een Jugendstil lamp. Die voorwerpen komen in mijn keuken. De boog boven de staldeuren is bij mijn huis (1870) bedekt met witte Putz maar die ga ik vrijleggen. Ik heb veel oude dingen gevonden indit huis. Groeten van een Nederlander uit het Duitstalige deel van België.
O wat fijn dat je die mooie stukken hebt kunnen redden! Zo zonde hè als het zomaar wordt weg gedaan!

Beautiful setting and buildings. Gite decor does need help (eg. Bedside light way too small). However the host seems lovely and that’s what really matters😊

Oh Sancerre. What a wonderful place. My husband and I spent two glorious weeks on a canal boat in 1998, driving ourselves, from Joigny to Dompierre sur Besbre, including sailing over the Loire River at Briare. We walked up the hill from the canal to the village of Sancerre, hoping to get a taxi back down. No luck, and the walk was longer because we were carrying a few bottles of wine. These were the best two weeks of our lives. I loved being able to buy food at the markets and cook on the boat.
19:37, je hoefijzer hangt verkeerd om. Ik ben niet bijgelofig maar zo kan je geluk er uit vallen.
In Frankrijk hangen ze hem andersom! Wat jij zegt was het eerste dat ik hier zei maar de Fransen zeiden me dat zij hem bewust zo ophangen!
@@FrenchCountryLife weer wat geleerd. Ze zijn in Frankrijk inderdaad eigenwijs. Bij mij aan de overkant hebben de buren de oude bakoven ( buiten) laten restaureren. Alleen de stalen deur moet nog vernieuwd worden. Schoorsteentje gefixed en de professionele dorpsddakdekker heeft het leien dakje gerestaureerd en gratis wat leien op mijn dak vast gezet en koperen dakgootje en regengoot aan de bakoven gemaakt. De gevonden kleine kelder moet nog gedàan worden. Zelf was ik gisteren bezig van Bruchstein een trap in de tuin te maken. De stenen komen uit de tuinbodem zelf. Rustiek en gratis. Volgens mij is de vensterbank in mijn halletje eigenlijk een stenen wastafel/gootsteen. 12 cm dik, 100 lang en steekt naar binnen uit en heeft afgeschuinde hoeken onder 45° zodat het minder pijn doet, möchte je er tegenaan lopen. Ik moet vensterbankplaat er is voorzichtig afhalen. Mijn salontafel was een boerenkeukentafel van de ouder van de boswachter. Ik heb 'm verlaagd, smaller gemaakt en in de bijenwas gezet. De Tafel is uit ongeveer 1900. Was bedoeld om in de kachel te doen. Zo zie maar, dat oude boeit ze weinig. Ik vind het mooi en historisch.
