Today I am on my second day of experiencing the anti-glare add on that i put on my glasses. So far I am actually enjoying it. It makes the world around me feel more warm. Colors are great, my monitor is a whole new experience.. feels nice. I definitely get color correctness, especially if your job revolves around that. I am only on my second day, but I feel like my brain is adjusting to it.
I've just finished watching a show on Netflix where someone's glasses constantly had a purple glare, and it annoyed my so much I had to know why it was happening! Thank you!
I drive semi for a living and have to say, adding AR was the best choice I’ve ever made to my lenses. Zeiss Drivesafe Trivex progressives with AR and dark grey transitions. Stunning views.
Similar. I don’t drive that much so I went with SmartLife. I don’t find the reflection “ridiculous”. I like the look and think it helps my eye health. I even added sapphire flash coat and blue Photofusion X and love them (though I do wish it would darken more while driving) Maybe there is a point here for photography but not for me.
Excluding their employees, there isn’t a human being alive who has *ever* used the phrase _“…Zeiss Drivesafe Trivex progressives with AR and…”._ Judging by the number of “upvotes,” there appears to be even more bots who “like” you.
Just so you know, I got new lenses with the better 9 layer coating and my lenses only have a slight green reflection now. The purple is gone. :) 6:45 Funny how you can totally lose track of time. It was 23 minutes remaining, not 23 minutes elapsed ;-)
I have the yellowish green tint and I look fine in pictures, it just depends on the quality of how it was done, like, I look great in pictures and still have the reflection, I look great, I recommend not telling others to not get it because as long as its done properly then it shouldn't matter
When you have a work wich involve color accuracy first you need perfectly balanced and accurate display as well as certified books of color samples and no filters in glasses .. But for poeoples who dont need color accuracy bluelight filters are great especially for gaming QA jobs etc..
i have the blue light filter on mine too but mines the clear one, so colours look the same and just white reflections, but my opinion the purple reflection looks sick
I totally agree with you, I don't like that glare. I just received my new glasses and really like them except for this blue reflection. Going to send them back and order them without the blue
I appreciate this video. My old "blue light" blocking glasses didn't have this weird purple glare, though they did have a yellow tint. Just got a new pair and the coating is terrible! I get light reflections/glare all the time which is very distracting. There was an npr interview with an expert that said the coating hasn't shown to solve eye fatigue in the studies they've done.
Obviously it drives me crazy too, which is why I made the video to explain it in case anyone else had the same issue. Some comments here have been pretty hateful, saying I don't know what I'm talking about and the coating is good for your eyes, blah, blah, blah...EVEN THOUGH I explained my old lenses that had the same protective coatings didn't have this really bad purple reflection. I ended up getting a new set of lenses with a more expensive 9 layer coating and there's no more purple reflection. There's a very slight green reflection now that I'm content with. Thanks for your comment. :)
@@ThePhotographyHobbyist This is good info. The place where you got these coatings -- did they have a name for the 6-layer and 9-layer coatings? Each place seems to use marketing names for the coatings without details.
From my experience in Gaming QA 12+ Hours a day sometimes in crunch times it made a world of difference without my anti BL glasses my eyes would get red and dry in few hours ! And its the same around the studio !
If you have 1.74 high index lenses, you definitely want at least anti reflect coating, otherwise they reflect way too much. I skipped any other coatings though.
Thank you for making this video. This year I added the blue light filter coating option on my glassess and I HATE IT. I see a blue reflection ALL the time. It's sooo annoying.
@@abdiea4821 ask your eye doc if they have a better coating that will not give you the reflection. I still have all the protection ls on my NEW glasses but there’s no reflection because they used more expensive coatings
This year I started wearing glasses and I never paid attention to glasses prior to needing them. Once I had mine, I was happy with them, they are nice and clear, but then I went to a restaurant and I saw a lady with glasses and she caught my eye because her lenses looked purple. They looked so nice and pretty and I told myself I had to have those!!! That’s how I ended up here 🙄 I like the color. So now I’m indecisive 🤔🤔🤔
I had my lenses re-glazed with the blue protect coating that creates this blue/purple reflection and I wouldn’t go back to normal lenses/coatings again! It does make most white things look slightly off-white but I was told about that before I ordered them. Most of it comes down to making an informed decision as the lenses are more expensive.
Miss Sherzad I have always had the type of coating that is better for using computers and the anti-reflective coating but the last few times I ordered my glasses, suddenly this purple reflection was there that was not there in the past. I believe what they used is the seven layer anti-reflective coating but this time I requested the more expensive nine layer coating and that solved the problem. It only has a slight green reflection now. I mentioned this several times in my other comments on this video.
Sad part is that a lot of places don't show you what the "Premium AR Coating" looks like but rather just automatically check the box that says it, they may mention "i put down the best AR Coating" etc but you have no idea until you are excited one day to go pick up your new glasses and then you look in the mirror and see these purple reflections and are like "what in the world" .. it happened to me and i made them take the coating off and just put regular AR coating on .. was very aggravating because they never explained the "premium AR coating will have a purplish reflection to lenses if you look in mirror or to someone looking at you"
I was able to get them to give me lenses that had the more expensive 9 layer coating instead of the 7 layer AR coating. As I understand it, the 7 layer gives you that purple reflection but the 9 layer has a greenish reflection but it’s much less than what you see with the 7 layer purple reflection.
"what in the world" This made me laugh cause this is exactly what happened to me, only I was too afraid to ask them to remove it. It also makes you look more tired
Not sure if anyone told you but it looks like you have a blue blocker anti glare coating. These types of coatings are designed to reduce eye fatigue by reducing blue light transmission. The blue light damages the back of your eyes and is also know to disturb sleep wake patterns. There are other anti reflective coatings that are clearer and more attractive. There's about 30 plus years of research on this. Look it up. There are other types of blue blockers that have a clearer AR Coat but the lens may tinted a bit. Since you're a photographer you should think of these as a tool. I hope this clears things up for you a bit.
Mark Vallejo the eye doctor had new lenses made for me that has a more expensive AR coating and I like them much better. :-). There’s only a very, very slight yellow/greenish reflection when you’re looking at me (and of course no reflection at all when I look out through the lenses when wearing them).
@@ThePhotographyHobbyist excellent! That type of coating is made with different chemicals that are actually designed should be more scratch resistant, easier to clean, and most importantly less visible to the eye.
The lenses are just fine. Someone works in the field that needs colour accuracy is probably gonna have problems but trust me, I am into IT, and I have seen a difference b/w normal and blue cut lenses. End of the day, eyestrain is not totally cut off but there is a difference. I dont have as much dry eyes, I used to get.
to hell with the eye strain or seeing way better vision i took them off and would rather see blurry shit as long as my whites are white not a trash colored yellow
So It makes sense to wear these eyeglasses only at night but it irritates me that they try to offer you these coating knowing you will be wearing them all day. I just got mine and I was never told that I would have to walk around with a hue or blue and purple. Now I’m returning them and getting them redone. This video was really helpful
Glad it was helpful. Check on the 9 layer anti reflective coating. I think that's what my new glasses are and there's hardly any colored glare at all when you look at me wearing them. I really like my new lenses.
Kurt It does suck! I also realized after having to wear them through the weekend that I also get a string blue haze when it’s sunny outside so it’s really bad! I got mines at a local eye place. You should return it.
Ana Velasquez they said the 9 layer coating has less colored reflection and to me it’s nearly perfect. Only a tiny green reflection color. I don’t know what the other options are but in the past I never had any problems with a colored reflection and suddenly I had this purple color on my recent glasses.
What I disliked the most about the AR coating is how it makes the lens grease prone. If an eyelash slightly rubs against the lens, it smudges up my lens and I'm constantly having to clean it. I have the green reflection on mine, but it doesn't bother me too much compared to the smudging. I'm never letting anyone convince me to get anti-glare ever again. The cons are MUCH more annoying to my daily life than the pros of having it.
They're supposed to ask you if you want blue light blocking, so if i were you i wouldnt continue to buy your glasses from that place. I have blue light blocking coating on my glasses but I don't see any color distortion while wearing them. My glasses have a pinkish reflection on them and to me they look pretty cool
They did ask and it was always fine until a few years ago and then suddenly I started getting lenses with a purple reflection when I ordered new glasses. Anyway, I know the cause now and I ask for the best 9 layer coating that doesn’t have the purple reflection when I order glasses.
When i use my glasses i have a yellow hue when i see through my glasses. Glasses worked fine but the yellow hue was annoying. I got a different crizal but it not exactly clear either. :\
The purple reflection is very attractive, can’t explain it. It’s almost like looking at a person with a nice wrist watch or a pretty pair of earrings. That purple reflect is VERY charming I think. Sounds silly but it actually helps create great eye contact as well.
I initially liked it but the thing that drove me crazy was seeing the reflection when I tried to make a video for RUclips or in photos where I was in the photo. Anyway, I see your point though and I can see how some people like actually like the purple reflection :-) Thanks
I decided to get the AR from Walmart, $100 AR per lens, and when they arrived they are Nikon TotalShield No-Glare lens on my $20 frames. After like 4 months my coating became crazed and started seeing streaks from lights. It became annoying, and felt like i wasted $500. Now, I only buy cheap glasses online.
I just got these two days ago and it is driving me nuts. I am getting a refection from the inside of my glasses and this is giving me a headache. I am so unhappy with this purchase 😭😭😭😭
Rhonda Rhodes Most places will let you get the lenses redone at no charge if you’ve only had them a very short time. If you haven’t already asked them about it, I would give them a call or go back in person and explain what the problem is and what you don’t like.
@@rrhodes7594 Great. That's good to hear. I have a new pair waiting for me at the office now but it's closed due to the virus so it may be a few more weeks before I can get them (same type I replaced them with last year, but just a new pair to have as a spare with new frames).
This is the blue cut coating. you are absolutely right. i have just made my first multifocal glasses and I fill that the blue cut coating is blocking too much light. it is good for office glasses not multifocal
The benefit of the glasses that have the purple and yellow hue is that they block all ultraviolet radiation below 450 nm. The other ones while not having the purple hue will not and so you’re actually doing more damage to your eyes because you’re letting more ultraviolet radiation into your eyes to damage to the cornea and lens.
@@richardsnyder220 it’s worth getting, but you have to make sure you get one of the better versions that doesn’t have the purple reflection. I was able to get my lenses replaced with a better anti-reflective coating and the reflection is almost completely gone now other than a slight green but it’s hardly noticeable and only visible at certain angles
Thank you so much for posting! I 100% agree I am an instructor (on zoom these days) it really bugged me and was distracting! You did help me figure it out! Asked them to replace the lenses, as I did not ask for this . It is also bad outside as it reflects back in your eyes from behind your lenses too.
The blue colour is probably coming from a coating of tin oxide which is used to reduce surface reflections particularly from the rear of the lens to reduce the mirroring effect under subdued ambient light conditions. The tin oxide is sandwiched between what could be described as primer coatings and protective coatings such as silicon nitride which are essential for lens surface preparation for coating and also to provide scratch resistance. Silicon nitride reflects a yellow hue. If the coating has more than one tin oxide (blue) layer it also has correspondingly more layers of silicon nitride (yellow) hence the shift toward a greener colour in reflection. On reflection (deliberate pun) I just want my glasses to work for me, be durable and scratch resistant so I have no concern about these outward reflections which can also be seen today in high performance glazing for homes and commercial buildings which uses similar technology. Having said that, I do understand that some people may not be happy if they perceive that their glasses look like windows!!
I just got new glasses and am getting the same purple, but also in the form of back glare. Which makes it hard to do anything when all im seeing is purple glare. My last blue light filter ones did not do this. Im houng bavk today to get ones with just a regular AR coating (no blue light filter), making sure they put it on both the front and back.
My eye doctor got mine corrected. They ordered them again with a better coating, so now they only have a very slight green reflection and everything is OK for me now. I think the new coating is a more expensive 9 layer coating.
Hi, I am using Zeiss blueprotect. I was feeling that there is some issue whenever I wear it. It gives me good sleep but there is something really wrong with that blue/purple coating. Its irritating.
I got new glasses today and asksd for AR reflective..but they dont have the purple glare like in my old ones...howevee they have a slight green reflection but it doesnt reflect as much as my old ones. Also, the lights look green...could it stoll be AR ?
Yes. When I asked to have these lenses replaced to remove the purple glare, the new lenses with a better 9 layer AR coating have a slight green glare/reflection. So I think you did get the AR coating.
I personally love the color look on the lens. It's actually making me finally want my well needed glasses. But at you saying when you look thru the lens you see a yellow tint??
I don't remember if these are the lenses that had a yellow tint to them overall (looking through them), but that was a separate issue. I talked to my eye doctor and they ordered totally clear lenses for me to get rid of the yellow tint. That was a separate issue than the purple tint I talk about in this video which is when people are looking AT me, not when I look through the lenses. The purple reflection was only when you're looking at my glasses, not through them. My newest glasses don't have the purple reflection now. I got a better AR coating that is only just barely a slight bit green depending on the angle you're looking at my glasses, but it's barely noticeable, which is better for me.
I bought a pair of high end spectacles (Kio Yamato titanium) with if I recall correctly Crizal lenses. They had a green reflection but I saw things clear as a bell with the anti reflection properties
I think it just comes down to quality of product. I have a pair of warby Parker glasses that I got blue light filters on them and I don’t have the annoying purple reflecting back into my eyeballs like a Kickstarter pair I got is giving me. Thought I was going crazy.
Same thing just happened to me. In theory the slight blue blocking sounded nice, to reduce the fatigue on my eyes. I didn’t realize how distracting and stupid it would look though. I just got mine yesterday and the violet reflection looks exactly like yours. I think I’m gonna have to go in and talk to the clinic.
That purple reflection and slight yellow tint tells me that these are probably Zeiss DriveSafe lenses. These are functional coatings designed for combating a specific visual need. I’m sure the Duravision Platinum AR coating is much less prominent.
I like my replacement lenses better. They’re clear and only have a very mild green reflection that’s not easy to notice in most cases. I still have an AR coating but it’s a better one.
I think the purple hue on my glasses look awesome (I have clear glasses so it looks kinda aesthetic) and colors actually look pretty normal. If anything, with-ought my glasses (that have the purple reflection) colors kinda look dull to me. Color looks better to me. And also the I can only see the purple reflection irl, when I take pictures it’s barley noticeable. Am I weird for that? Is it so bad to have them?
It's not wrong to like the purple reflection. :) I guess in some circumstances it can look interesting, but the thing that bothered me most was not being able to have a photo of myself without a big purple color over my eyes. I do video conferences at work very often and this is also a problem because when people see me in the video calls, again I have a big purple mark over my eyes. hehe Anyway, there's nothing wrong with liking the purple reflection. Everyone has different personal preferences :)
bluelight filter glases are NOT supposed to be a daily driver ....just for working at the computer specialy for working in the late afternoon or night...just think, would you have the bluelight filter in your phone on for the whole day? No!!! I got such glasses and i wear them when its late but i have to work still but i want to signal my body its almost time to sleep. They blocking out the blue light whats makes you tired. Your body will think its dawn when you wear them.
even if you had your eyes closed, it responds to natural and blue light, so your comment does not make sense, its not just your eyes, but your body too.
Thats a Blue Light filter on your lenses. Every light filter will glare that particular light off and thats showing as reflections - in your case the blue light. You have computer glasses. I have UV filter built in and antireflection as well which is called "driving glasses". Thats the best option since modern monitors have an blue light filter built in you can switch on (I have mine to 50% blue light filtering). The UV filter and antireflective show a green dot in the lens when an LED is shining on it.
I too am a photographer and honestly have to disagree with this opinion realizing that he is experiencing the bluish coatings. In my case I have top-of-the-line AR coatings with the bluish reflection on my eye glasses, but it does not affect my workflow in post production or white balance. I guess everyone has their personal experiences and in my case it’s a positive one. Also food for thought… most high-end camera lenses have multi band AR coatings that are either green or blue, or both coatings regardless of who the manufacture of the glass is. Just my 2 cents.
I have no problem using my cameras of making photos. I am only talking about the purpose reflection people see when they’re looking at me or if I’m ever in a photo, again you can see a bad reflection off the outside of my lenses. I have since had the eye doctor replace the lenses with a 9 layer AR coating that only has a slight green reflection. Problem solved.
The yellow tint is the most infuriating part for me. I just want to see colors normally, and even when I look in the mirror my eyes look slightly yellow from the tint.
@@milathecat5454 yeah that was more of a nitpick because it’s not that big of a deal but the messed up colors were pretty bad for me. I think I had a really strong coating on mine because it was really annoying. I got a new pair that are normal and they’re fine.
i’m so annoyed with the yellow coating on mine aswell you think the sales lady would have said somthing now i’m pissed off and gonna have to call back and try to take care of this no way i can go around with purple lenses .... hell i see the purple on my side of the frames half the time
@@logannaslund1057 they let me replace mine, but it was still really dumb. Like if they would just explain it a little bit more all that trouble wouldn’t have happened. The lady was even saying that it might be because I have a frame that’s clear on the bottom. Like what? That has nothing to do with what’s going on. Then she says that her glasses have the coating and are perfectly fine. She definitely didn’t have the coating on the glasses she showed me so she was actually just lying. They probably just want more money from people and they’re profiting off the fact that more people are using computers for work/school.
Lens coatings, and lenses in general, are like tyres (tires for The USA). The more you pay, the better they perform. This is even more prevalent with progressive (varifocal) lenses.
I already mentioned this in a pinned comment. No I’m not saying don’t get the coating: I got new lenses with the better 9 layer coating and my lenses only have a slight green reflection now. The purple is gone
Unfortunately, the lady that re-ordered my lenses with the better coating didn’t tell me exactly what it was (brand/model) and it wasn’t on my receipt.
@@rainbow20112011 but I’ve read that the better AR coating is the 9 layer version (at the time I bought mine and researched it), so if you ask for the 9 layer coating they may know which one you’re referring to.
i just bought mine online and it says that it’s an anti blue light filter glasses, but when i wore them, it doesn’t have any difference whether i put it on or not and it doesn’t have any blue reflection or anything, i’m just wondering if it is anti blue light glasses or ive been scammed 😂 can anyone help mee?
Hmmm...I remember long ago my glasses had the AR coating (and I think the blue light blocking) with no color reflection but the ones I have now do have a color reflection (my updated lenses have a slight green reflection when viewed from the front). Whether it's normal to not see a difference when you put them on with only the coating to block blue light like from a computer screen, I'm not sure ;)
To mee that reflection in your glasses look very nice, to be honest with you. It makes you look younger and very modern. Indeed I am impressed with the nice purple reflection of your glasses - very stylish. Just for fotos it isnt good but otherwise it shows the blue light is really blocked out. Dont be so sad about it - other people like it. It actually looks very nice.
I just got my new glasses yesterday, and they have the purple coating. I can see it in the camera when I'm teaching online. I'll have to use my old glasses for teaching when my eyes need a rest from contacts. It's so disconcerting.
Dinglefoot's Treasures if they’re new, talk to your optometrist about it. Most eye doctors will let you redo the lenses for free if you have a problem with them. Check out the 9 layer AR coating which is much better with no purple reflection.
I already replaced some horribly thick ones and the frames, so I doubt they'll take these ones back too. Oh well, I can live with it. I basically just use my glasses when my eyes are too dry for the contacts.
That doesn’t bother me ?? I’d rather have that with being on the computer and devices regularly with work. But everyone has different preferences:) nice glasses though
I have never had so much trouble with my anti glare as the ones I have now. I am constantly moving my head around trying to get the glare away. I told them I see colors and they said oh they need to be buffed again. Did not help.
You might want to ask if they have a better coating available. They replaced mine (the one that had the purple reflection) with one that is nearly clear now (only has a very slight green reflection). I think what I have now is the '9 layer coating'
If you have hyper sensitive eyes you'd be lost without the coating. 58 years I lived with very light sensitive eyes. 3rd grade sucked for me when they put florescent lights in classrooms.
Thank you! I moved to a small town and tried to get new glasses and all I get is purple glare and I also noticed that colors were not true to form. One of my preschoolers pointed it out to me first. He pointed to my face and said "purple." No thanks, I don't need people to think purple every time they look at me. I remember the Dr. asking me about my computer use...now I'm mad! So they can't fix it? I have to pay big bucks and start over? Shoot!
My optometrist replaced mine at no charge. I don’t know the exact brand and type but i believe the more expensive 9 layer AR coating which only has a very slight green tint but just barely and not visible often. They can fix yours but you’d have to get the different AR coating and not sure your optometrist can do it over at no cost to you.
Hello ~ I finally found a lense (non prescription) that I want to wear BUT I need a lab to change to my prescription (3 month new prescription). I'm having a hard time finding a lab to do this change because of the 2 screws on the side of the lense attached to the front temple part. Can you help me. I have a picture of the new glasses if you'd like to see. Thank you
I hate mine as well. White is no longer white. All of the glare that it is supposed to help with looks exactly the same. And when I look at some lights there are 2 purple lines for every light. That in a parking lot full of lights is the most aggravating!!!
Karrie Langston Ask your eye doctor about the 9 layer AR coating. I like my replacement lenses that have that. The reflection now is almost completely gone and ever so slightly greenish. Not at all like the bad purple reflection.
Doesn’t happen with my glasses. Maybe they gave you progressive lenses or something. Bifocals. My doctor ordered bifocals for me by accident one time. I noticed right away.
I returned the prevencia lenses because of the yellow tint and strong purple reflection. It's not a good option for those who make zoom calls, facetime, skype, etc.
I mean, apart from the coat color that might or might not be likeable, by using those Blue light filters u are actively caring by the health of eyevision. There´s a whole technical study behind so it´s not smoke only. If you care more about the benefits on using it then you should try and afford it or in the case you just DGAF about that and you are willing to pay only for a clear view vision then get rid of the color coats. What i agree with you and i disagree about, is the insistance on Optics Store to use those expensive coats. They are not doing you a favor, they are just there to offer you what´s best or most suitable for you.
I got the coating on mine and the front wouldn’t bother me at all. But for me the inside of the lenses would reflect that horrible purple back into my eyes.
Check with your eye doctor to see if they can get the 9 layer coating for you. I changed mine to the 9 layer coating and it's much better. Only a slight green reflection on my lenses now. I think the other version I had (in this video) was the 7 layer coating. If you just got your glasses, some optometrists will allow you to switch the lenses to something that's better for you at no cost (other than the difference in cost of the new lenses if it's more expansive). That's what I did.
Hopefully you were able to have them take the AR coating off and just put on a clear AR coating .. really aggravating these places do not show you a sample lens with the "Premium AR Coating" so you see the purplish/blue reflection. It happened to me and bad part was i had regular clear AR coating on my old glasses and said to the lady "i want this same AR coating like i have on these" i think it is what i call a "money grab" for these eyeglass places
if they added that blue blockers thing, that is the tint, or should be. the AR shouldn't have any of that, though that is a pretty pronounced reflection, usually its green. i'm hoping mine will be fine, the eye doctor changed companies.
I was told the purple reflection was from the less expensive (but still not cheap) 7 layer coating and the more expensive 9 layer coating doesn't have the bad purple reflection. I did get the 9 layer coating after this video and it's much better, with only a slight green reflection. I'm happy with it now.
i'm hoping they give me the right one. i told them i want it to be like crizal. they should be up front with what they are selling, my place had no leaflets, and online there is hardly any info at all.
can i know what camera and app youre using, ive been trying to find a way to start a video camera while looking at my phone, but idk where/how/what to start with
Most of the newer cameras sold today have Bluetooth and WIFI and an app you can use on your phone to connect and then control the camera, which is what I was doing for this video using my Nikon Z7.
For those not into photography (and not worry about the yellow tinge) but do a lot of video conferencing and need to avoid the reflection, would you recommend having a separate pair of glasses without blue light filter / anti reflective coating for video meetings? Thank you.
Wear glasses with no prescription. Try not to wear a frame without lenses. Get Plano lenses with high grade anti-reflective coating without any filter or tint. Wear corrective contact lenses for your screen distance. You will then look the very best cosmetically on screen meetings.
I didn’t notice any change in the color I see. Just make sure they give you clear lenses. They gave me lenses that had a slight yellow tint in the past and I had to tell them the next time not to give me any lenses that had any tint at all.
Sorry Dan. The glasses for your profession should be as colourless as possible. High end anti-reflective coating is strongly recommended. Avoid multifocal lenses if possible because they bend lines and depth perception.
antonio griffin I checked the receipt for the glasses I got as a replacement and they did not list the manufacturers so I’m not sure which brand the lenses and coatings are.
Thank you. I can’t stand this and needed to know because I’m shopping for new glasses now and I do not want this again. I like tot ale pictures as well and it drives me bonkers because you can’t see the eyes in portrait type pictures unless you remove the glasses.
I got my first pair of glasses yesterday. I paid 350 euros only to realise they have a blue/purple tint. Im walking down there on monday. Im pissed. Who the hell wants a tint. Like you said, it's impossible to get a decent looking picture. The tint totally steals the attention in the picture.
grateful aree You’re welcome and thank you. The new lenses I have (not the lenses in this video) have a 9 layer anti reflective coating. It has less of a color reflection when you see the lenses when I’m wearing them. My old lenses had a purple reflection but the new 9 layer coating has a very slight green reflection, but not much at all.
Have you tried to remove the film? Unfortunately, I have to purchase those very expensive lightweight plastic lenses to avoid having to wear those heavy, thick, coke bottle glass lenses. (I'm darn near blind.) So for that much money, I want my glasses to last as many years as possible! My previous pair had a "protective" coating of some kind, which ended up peeling off only after a few years, ruining my glasses. So when offered to purchase it as an add-on for my next pair I said, "No way!". But a few years later, I was surprised when, yet again, my glasses started to peel! Apparently, I've been told (but I'm not sure if it's true) that the plastic they use to make your lenses with, comes with a film already on it! So whether you pay for it or not, you're getting it! (Yet another example of planned obsolescence?) Needless to say, I ordered a bottle of Etchall to remove the remaining "protective" coating. (Etchall is a brand of Glass etching cream. ) I test tried it on another old pair of glasses I had first. It would have worked perfectly had I not used an old debit card to remove the paste from my lenses after the allotted time. (Etchall can be reused) I should have just rinsed it off instead of trying to save the cream. I was really surprised that it scratched so easily! (I guess that's why they offer a protective coating! Lol) Note: Unless you want to ruin your lenses, Glass etching cream should be used on plastic lenses only. I've heard that soaking in rubbing alcohol or using an abrasive toothpaste works to remove coatings on glass lenses.
You can still get a coating with almost no reflection. Ask for the 9 layer AR coating or just mentioned that you don't want any reflection when people look AT your glasses, like the purple I mentioned in the video. I've never had any issues with coating peeling off and I use my glasses while working on equipment which means I sometimes accidentally get solvents or oil on my lenses, but if I remove it soon with warm soapy water it's been fine.
To be fair, this video is a bit dramatic. However, I would put blame on both parties, you and the dispenser. The dispenser should have shown you a lens demo of this type of coating and explained everything to you, particularly how they filter blue light and alter colour (I would never dispense these to anyone who works with colour), but you also should have told them what your expectations were for your finished glasses and questioned what lenses they were dispensing you with, AND what YOU were paying for.
Thank you so much for this! I'm getting new glasses. The AR coating is reported to help at night but I don't want color reflections. It would be really helpful if you could find out what AR you had on the older glasses. Thanks again!
One is AR coating and over it blue light fliter coating to remove harmful blue rays of led lights, get blue light filter if you are getting tired and teary eyes from using computer or phone.
I'm not really sure, but I think whatever coatings you want on your lenses, you can tell your optometrist and they can order lenses for you with whatever coatings you want.
Agree!!!! I work on a computer 8 hrs a day- so great! My eyes don't get strained as much as they used to. And no tension headaches. Loving them!
Agree . I using this kind of glasses for 5 years.. it's an formidable experience of comfort
Oh my gosh FINALLY someone who’s saying what I’ve been so infuriated about!!!!!
It’s not just me. 😊 (but then I have other people telling me I’m whining about something meaningless 🤷🏼. That’s the internet for ya)
That reflection it’s actually super cool 😂
I've just finished watching a show on Netflix where someone's glasses constantly had a purple glare, and it annoyed my so much I had to know why it was happening! Thank you!
I drive semi for a living and have to say, adding AR was the best choice I’ve ever made to my lenses. Zeiss Drivesafe Trivex progressives with AR and dark grey transitions. Stunning views.
Zeiss is in a league of its own.
6:45 Funny how you can totally lose track of time.
But seriously it's a nice shade of purple.
I really like that purple reflection. It's a pretty cool 😎 color 😊!!!
i have the blue light filter on mine too but mines the clear one, so colours look the same and just white reflections, but my opinion the purple reflection looks sick
If your glasses are bkue light blocking but the reflections are white then the blue light blocking isnt working.
@@hawkeye5029 Not necessarily. A blue light filter isn't always a coating. You can get clear blue light glasses without a blue/purple reflection.
The yellow tint you see is for the filtering of Blue Light.
Some people actually like the purple reflection. There's nothing 'wrong' with it really...it's just a personal preference.
Same here lol going tomorrow but felt like you about the pretty purple 💜
Mine are a rainbow colour😢
Your concerns is just the color. Why Im watching
Ana Velasquez where did you get them from? I just got mine too and I instantly noticed the blue reflections and it sucks
Hooked on Photography I had no idea they also have colorless Anti-Reflective coating now. Is that that the same as the 9 coating?
Kurt It does suck! I also realized after having to wear them through the weekend that I also get a string blue haze when it’s sunny outside so it’s really bad! I got mines at a local eye place. You should return it.
Ana Velasquez they said the 9 layer coating has less colored reflection and to me it’s nearly perfect. Only a tiny green reflection color. I don’t know what the other options are but in the past I never had any problems with a colored reflection and suddenly I had this purple color on my recent glasses.
No this is a great help . Because I do lighting at work so . I wouldn’t want that color correction . And you just saved me 40.09 bucks .
40.09 specifically?
@@ThePhotographyHobbyist oh ok im glad they asked because i would've been upset if they didnt ask you
When i use my glasses i have a yellow hue when i see through my glasses.
Yaa its depending...perhaps ages
True
I decided to get the AR from Walmart, $100 AR per lens, and when they arrived they are Nikon TotalShield No-Glare lens on my $20 frames. After like 4 months my coating became crazed and started seeing streaks from lights. It became annoying, and felt like i wasted $500. Now, I only buy cheap glasses online.
@@MartinezRaigosa wow. Sorry to hear that. :-(

Rhonda Rhodes Most places will let you get the lenses redone at no charge if you’ve only had them a very short time. If you haven’t already asked them about it, I would give them a call or go back in person and explain what the problem is and what you don’t like.
Hooked on Photography I’ll go first thing Monday morning!!
Rhonda Rhodes Good luck!
Update,
I was able to get them replaced without a problem! Thank goodness 😊
@@rrhodes7594 Great. That's good to hear. I have a new pair waiting for me at the office now but it's closed due to the virus so it may be a few more weeks before I can get them (same type I replaced them with last year, but just a new pair to have as a spare with new frames).
I think it all depends on individual preferences.....I like the purple reflection.
Mine also gt purple refection but not too obvious...i really like it...
I have a green and purple reflection simultaneously. Mostly green but if you turn them the right way you'll see a purple reflection.
Pacific Coast so are doing more damage with or with thE AR???
What about the green ones

That purple anti glare with blue light filter is called crizal prevencia

I hate this too i keep seeing the reflections behind me but its anti glare? I dont get it
Thank you so much for posting! I 100% agree I am an instructor (on zoom these days) it really bugged me and was distracting! You did help me figure it out! Asked them to replace the lenses, as I did not ask for this . It is also bad outside as it reflects back in your eyes from behind your lenses too.
What kind of lenses do you use , do use a green lenses now??
This video should have been 30 seconds.
I wish he would have included, how to buy a used car
Lmao
Its irritating.
so you are saying don't get anti-glare coating (which can help your eyes a lot) because it shows on on cameras or mirrors??
Uh, nope. Read the description and pinned comment. I did/do have AR coatings, but better than this one that makes a purple reflection.
@@ThePhotographyHobbyist i don't see a pinned comment, but did see what you wrote in the description. thank you for the clarification. cheers!
Thank you for making me feel better about complaining! Hate mine to.
I hate this on my new glasses. Especially when on a Zoom chat and I see the purple reflection. So annoying
Thank you for the information. I'll look into it. My one friend says she loves hers
Bluelight filter are NOT a dailydriver ...i can believe how stupid this man is....
That purple reflection and slight yellow tint tells me that these are probably Zeiss DriveSafe lenses. These are functional coatings designed for combating a specific visual need. I’m sure the Duravision Platinum AR coating is much less prominent.
Yeah I have Zeiss lenses and absolutely hate them! Terrible tint and glare !
Thank you people dont realize it but at night in dark areas it makes seeing even dimmer
Me too I want the purple tinge !!!
I’m looking at purple transitions too 😂😂
I'm having the same problem! I just got mine today. It's driving me nuts.
Same man I got it 2 days ago this is making me so mad, what did U do?
bluelight filter glases are NOT supposed to be a daily driver ....just for working at the computer specialy for working in the late afternoon or night...just think, would you have the bluelight filter in your phone on for the whole day?
I actually got these lenses replaced with lenses that has a different coating. They now have a very slight green reflection, but not much at all.
I just want to see colors normally, and even when I look in the mirror my eyes look slightly yellow from the tint.

i’m so annoyed with the yellow coating on mine aswell you think the sales lady would have said somthing now i’m pissed off and gonna have to call back and try to take care of this no way i can go around with purple lenses .... hell i see the purple on my side of the frames half the time
@@logannaslund1057 they let me replace mine, but it was still really dumb. Like if they would just explain it a little bit more all that trouble wouldn’t have happened. Then she says that her glasses have the coating and are perfectly fine. She definitely didn’t have the coating on the glasses she showed me so she was actually just lying.
The camera setup was interesting BTW, so thanks
I got the coating on mine and the front wouldn’t bother me at all. But for me the inside of the lenses would reflect that horrible purple back into my eyes.
same pissed clean the fuck off
I jst bought one and it reflects purplish /greenish light gosh i hate it😩
I LOVE PURPLE BLUE reflection lens.I can't wear the greens as they distort my vision
I just bought a new prescription glasses and it has blue light filter and transition. The purple reflection is ruining the transition for me. :(
Check with your eye doctor to see if they can get the 9 layer coating for you.
Can you have blue light blocking and anti reflective in one eyeglass at the same time?
Yes.
if they added that blue blockers thing, that is the tint, or should be. the AR shouldn't have any of that, though that is a pretty pronounced reflection, usually its green. i'm hoping mine will be fine, the eye doctor changed companies.
I have crizal sapphire with eyezen and this is very clear, no blue reflection and no yellow tint..very worth for me
Yes, green tint on my glasses. I feel suffocated.
To be honest , that purple isn't bad at all , usually when people get older they are not that crazy about their looks lol
I'm a graphic designer, does the vision change color a lot when used on the computer?
I didn’t notice any change in the color I see. Just make sure they give you clear lenses. They gave me lenses that had a slight yellow tint in the past and I had to tell them the next time not to give me any lenses that had any tint at all.
Sorry Dan. The glasses for your profession should be as colourless as possible. High end anti-reflective coating is strongly recommended. Avoid multifocal lenses if possible because they bend lines and depth perception.
I just came from the eye doctor and saw the yellow tint. Now I'm hearing they have a clear blue. What company did you get yours from?
antonio griffin I checked the receipt for the glasses I got as a replacement and they did not list the manufacturers so I’m not sure which brand the lenses and coatings are.
I need help with that too, i want blue light protection but without the yellow tint on my glasses.
How do you call the new glasses that you have? Thanks!
grateful aree You’re welcome and thank you. The new lenses I have (not the lenses in this video) have a 9 layer anti reflective coating. It has less of a color reflection when you see the lenses when I’m wearing them. My old lenses had a purple reflection but the new 9 layer coating has a very slight green reflection, but not much at all.
Thanks for the very scientific non-biased video
I think the reflection is cool, my new glasses have the pink but my old glasses had a green reflection. I think you are being silly
Different strokes for different folks ;)
I have a lot of other comments agreeing that they don’t like it. Either opinion is valid.
(Yet another example of planned obsolescence?)
Needless to say, I ordered a bottle of Etchall to remove the remaining "protective" coating. (Etchall is a brand of Glass etching cream. )
I test tried it on another old pair of glasses I had first. It would have worked perfectly had I not used an old debit card to remove the paste from my lenses after the allotted time. (Etchall can be reused) I should have just rinsed it off instead of trying to save the cream. I was really surprised that it scratched so easily! (I guess that's why they offer a protective coating! Lol)
Note: Unless you want to ruin your lenses, Glass etching cream should be used on plastic lenses only.
Did it affect your vision I don't care about the reflection if only others can see it
No, I didn't see the purple when looking through the lenses. I only noticed it in the mirror or when someone else looks at me.
yes you will be able to see the purple from your point of view aswell (person using the glasses)
Mine is a shade of blue
Sir,
Can we install the bluray cut anti reflective coating on power lenses?
If yes, do we have to ask the following respectives to apply it?
I'm not really sure, but I think whatever coatings you want on your lenses, you can tell your optometrist and they can order lenses for you with whatever coatings you want.
