Genuinely can't stop thinking about the poetic syntax and rhyme scheme of this song. Special shoutout to the line "And you say there’s other fish in the sea" and how that prompted my brain to automatically predict the next line would be "Maybe for you but not for me" but INSTEAD it's followed with "my undying conscience/ You think it's obnoxious" and how those additional lines perfectly invoke the feeling of purposefully prolonging a goodbye bc you just KNOW it's going to be painful when it happens.
Replying to myself bc I've had this song on loop. Also a big fan of how there's almost an abject refusal to rhyme the lines in the earlier verses: the train/ same slant rhyme takes three lines to pay off and the shake off/ take off rhyme is broken by the additional "and run." Which is SUCH a contrast to the chorus' last lines that are almost overflowing with rhymes: time/ I/ fine/ goodbye. And considering how rhymes are often used to establish a sense of closure, I can't help feel like it's literally THE perfect ending to a song about goodbyes.
@@aishas.6895 loool i mean, even if it's pretentious i thought it was a cool thought, compellingly worded. esp the rhyming bit like even if it wasn't an intended bit of meaning, the cool part is that it *could've* been, and that the language has that ability in the first place

Streaming it on Spotify or amazon music or wherever you listen will pay them a little bit per stream (emphasis on little, I think Spotify is only like a fraction of a cent per stream) and you can download it off of bandcamp and that’ll give them more money per song but it’s only a one time deal (Idk if this is correct or not)
BDG is helping get through this nightmare of a reality we’re in now. I found I’m through his polygon series Unraveled then watched all his stuff on his personal channel then found this channel with its masterful music. Thank you, you’ve managed to make me happy in a time filled to the brim with misery.
I first heard this song on an uneasy train ride to see my ex boyfriend for the first time since we had broken up- a couple tears were shed upon listening and I still listen to it every now and again when I want to recollect memories of that day. Thank you for the song you guys :') x
That's very sad, and I'm hoping you're doing well now, but the connection to the first line, "look, you got me crying on the train" to your story is just too poetic to not point out
@@elizayoung3362oh my gosh, i happened to rediscover this song by coincidence and years ago i liked this comment, i’m very happy for you and i wish you so much happiness
I broke up with my boyfriend today only to find you guys in my recommend. This song is really helping me out right now. Thank you for this and all your other beautiful music.
One of my favourite Altogether songs. Beautiful harmonies, and the lyrics too. "Look, you got me crying on the train." Oh how many times I have been there. And it sounds like a moving on song, but like, in a still-attached way
The lack of views on this video is kinda disturbing, yet I feel so blessed to have this song meet my ears before it’s discovered by millions of people.
I gues now that they have their podcast Let's Make a Music and that Polygon made Brian famous, alot of ppl know their work, I just figure most of them listen to it on Spotify
I just found your videos on your other channel of your high school talent shows. You guys are so amazing! I have a dream one day to make music like you guys do. It's a cry and shame that you don't have a bigger presence on RUclips. You guys inspire me! I hope you never stop making music.

Guys, I don't know if you'll ever see this comment, or if it will simply be lost to time, but... I don't know how you guys do it, but these songs are beautiful. Every time I come back a different song makes me cry and I genuinely think this is some of the best music and lyrics I have ever heard. You're doing incredible, and everyone here is along for this ride, no matter how long it goes on.
I randomly had this reappear in my mix and realized this really felt like how my most recent heartbreak was like. It was almost comforting to say goodbye to a time where I felt like I was drowing and couldn't save myself. Weird for a song that came out when I was 8.
I've never seen such somber and sincere content from Brian yet. This paired with a genuinely beautiful song that (,surprise surprise,) sounded amazing as always with beautiful vocals and harmonies is such a new sight to see. I have never heard music so consistently great and from the heart than what I've heard from Brian, not to discredit his band member, but I'm new to this channel so I don't quite know who he is yet or how much he contributes to these amazing songs. But rest assured, I will be visiting this channel more often in the very near future.
Olha, você me pegou chorando no trem. Você me fez desejar por um tempo o que eu chamo de mãe. Escondido debaixo das cobertas... Eu sei que sempre soa repetitivo, mas fui preso a você como uma sombra e você não podia se livrar. Apenas me deixe correr e decolar.
This song is one of my absolute favorites, the one that really made me fall in love with the band. Now that Brian's off in California, I've been saddened with the knowledge that things have moved on and these pieces are in the past now, but I guess it's like they say: "don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." I hope Brian and Jonah are doing well, and I wish all of y'all the best!
one of my favourite songs by the altogether! the beautiful vocals along with the well written lyrics and the really pretty instrumental accompaniment just makes this song an absolute Experience and a half this song reminds me of my ex, and usually things that remind me of my ex make me too sad to continue with, but i keep coming back to this song because i feel like it completely encompasses the radio silence that's followed our breakup. no trying again, no chasing for something that won't be found again, just well wishes and goodbye. anyway sorry for getting reminiscent in the comments this is a very good song and i really want to learn how to cover it eventually
