I didn't know this laptop existed. It's so small and I imagine quite tedious to work on. Great job, Josh, on both the repair and the video! 😊

I can't even imagine trying to type up documents or do spreadsheet work on this little machine! You always have something unique!

The computer kind of looked like an old Nintendo DS 😂 I’d have to squint and be so close to the screen if I used this lol. Thank you for showing it, this was really cool to check out! 💖

I have this laptop. It’s in perfect condition. Battery works just fine even. Mine is the 100CT though

Even back then, palm sized laptops were more expensive than similarly specced normal sized machines.

Ha! Class of '99, here! In 1997 I was using a 486SLC-33 "Ultra"-branded notebook before a little while later upgrading to a Toshiba Satellite 205CDS.

Had no power for most of yesterday (Tuesday) in Toronto, Canada so I couldn't watch the stream (the power didn't come back on until almost 11pm last night in our area) but thanks for the video

I just got one of these a couple days ago. I’ve rebuilt the battery pack and installed a bunch of dos games from a pcmcia cf card adapter and just got it online with a pcmcia WiFi card :) keeping the original hard drive in it for now but u can pretty easily replace it with a cf card as well but I’ve heard some say the card must be in “fixed disk mode”

That’s awesome! How did you rebuild the battery? One of mine does have a CF card in it, so that is nice for sure!

@@retrotv1tech I used “Taken” 16650 cells from Amazon. Just have to make sure they are all balanced. I discharged them each to 3v. Otherwise I was getting overvoltage error beeps. Now it charges correctly but the windows battery level drops to 1% after the first hour. I get 2 to 2.5 hours runtime with these 1800 mah batteries.

@@retrotv1tech I’m on the fence on replacing or at least removing the RTC battery cells, concerned about corrosion but I’m worried about breaking plastic opening it up. The battery pack pried open ok but some of the plastic tabs broke of but not noticeable when sandwitched back together

After I put 1800mah cells it line the battery monitor drops to 0% in the first hour. I get anout 2.5hrs. Have you experienced the same issue? I wrote a new tray application battery monitor to compensate for it and give more accurate results. Also my display has a little play in it and can wobble forward and back and the left side can. I’ve up and down some. Is this normal?

Its true that CF Cards should be in "fixed disk mode". But even if they aren't, DOS bases OS like windows 9x doesn't care and works anyway. Only windows 2000 and newer complains about it, and maybe other NT based OS.

To get digitized sounds working on wolf 3d try launching doom or any other game first. For some reason that kicks it in and makes wolf3d work on mine.

It's very funny that this 27 year old computer uses the same hack for the Home, End, PgUp and PgDn keys as my MacBook Pro from 2020.

So what was the purpose of this laptop? Looks like more trouble than it is worth.

I imagine it was geared more towards professionals who wanted a travel computer that fit in a briefcase or backpack, and still get work done on the road, hence having a dock to connect to peripherals or larger CRT monitor. No idea beyond that, as I was young when this came out.
