I was instructed by an engineer of a client to send my voice over samples normalized to -6db and I was like, ohhhhhh poop, how do I adjust normalization? Well, now I know. Thank you.
Hey I´m trying to use it but even if I have activated the advanced tools, the functionmenu ist almost grey....I have no idea how to fix this....can you help me? Greetings from Germany :))
as usual a very good video man 🙏🙏 I've dome this process before and didn't like it so I tend to stay away from it.. what a safe point to get a good mix with headroom kind sir?
Thanks for this very useful video tutorial. I do have a question: how to handle recorded track that were, by mistake (live recording), too low? Do you suggest Gaining the single track or Normalize them? Many thanks for you kind answer.
Hi Sean, I hope you see this comment as I really need your help. My problem is that when recording vocals, some of the parts are very quiet and some are loud. I watched this video because I thought normalizing the audio will help but according to you, its a destructive process. How can I match the volume of the vocals to where it's consistent? You know what I mean? Like, the verses and the chorus will be at the same volume or at least the verses will get heard loud and clear? I really hope you see this and hoping for your tips! I am in the process of recording my music at home. Rock music and could use your help. Thank you very much!
@@SeanDivine Hi Sean, I did see your video about the multiple compressor you use for the vocals. Can I ask another question? Since most of the production tutorial here on YT is for RnB music, what plugin/compression would you suggest me to get? I know I am already asking a lot and I appreciate your response. You are helping many of us grately!!! More blessing and power to you, man! We appreciate you!
I have a problem when I try to normalize audio, when I analize the volume it never shows the -3dB it's always louder than that and I don't know why, I have the settings and all configured correctly.
hey ur probably not gonna reply but i got a SM7B to record vocals and get charlie puth/lauv vocal quality bc thats what they use and im not gettibg the quality i want mine just sounds like a demo 😭 do u have tips for me how to mix it or videos that teach everything i need for vocal mixing? reference track for vocal quality is Sad Forever by Lauv
When mastering in logic pro -during saving the file the volume gets over writed with normalization .Is there any option to change the final volume/dbl? Or any plugin that can help?
Thx, is there a differance between this way and the "normalize on" option when exporting (bounce) a finished track? I don't see the option there to set the target lv at lets say -3db
What do you think the strengths and weaknesses of Pro tools and Logic Pro? I am pc user now and doing mostly my recording at home using ptmp9, and I am looking to upgrade and get a new system and I am going back and forth on either getting another stronger pc or save a little more and get a mac.
Freddie Causey I think apple computer sounds better... more clearer than a PC....I had a PC..but once I change to apple..I notice DA different immediately......I've been using a Mac for about 4 years now
I've been using mac exclusively for about 7 or 8 years now and it's been much more stabile for me. Pro tools is good but it's kind of becoming a dinosaur in terms of features / value. There are much better DAW choices these days for beginners imo that are very capable.
You don't know how grateful we are... Thank you for what u do.
Why didnt you play the "after"? Would of been helpful for comparison
you're an actual god, this helped so much
glad it helped!
Normalizing processes the audio file permanently wow
God bless u for this
Very helpful and straight to the point video. Thank you.
Great video again, as usual.
Thank you so much Sean D.
Hi Sean could you do a review on Izotope's Neutron? Really interested to see how it works in a hip hop context

lots of mixing videos on the channel :) ruclips.net/video/WEUwM_YY1lo/видео.html
You need a preamp first this mic. I have the fethead. It’s a great mix you just need to crank it up. $100 on Amazon
Nicky Scorpio already got rid of the sm7b and got a bluebird mic lol. thanks tho

I wouldn't leave the normalization option on when exporting... you'll be in for some surprises!
Why are your vocals in stereo channels
they're not - dual mono, just the way they were routed in the recording
Sean Divine ok thanks for replying
Why do you record your vocals in stereo?
It made me curious
they're not stereo, dual mono... it's usually just the way the signal is routed into the DAW from the preamp / interface
Sean Divine thank you man

Appreciate it. I've been hearing mac praises for the longest.
