when u remove the backfire screen you MUST use a fire resistant filter. I run one on my '14 yz250f.....backfires are very uncommon on fuel injected bikes and mostly happened due to poor maintenance i.e. bad plug, wrong timing, worn valves etc.

1/2 hp can be felt on a 250F. Thousands of dollars and many many man hours can be spent to add as little as 2 hp. I agree though not taking the risk of having bike burn up at track because who carries fire extinguisher. I think someone makes a non flammable air filter though. Question is, is the filter covered in one of the popular filter oils still flame retardant or resistant?

Where can i find the guide to remove the subframe. Seems quite tricky to remove the air boot from the FI and the wiring.

Why would you want to remove it? Unless your a Pro or very very good Amateur racer/rider your not even using all the power your bike is making right now! This mod is useless for anyone who is not a Amateur A racer or above!

I had a 2004 CRF250 that caught on fire after a crash, gas got on the air filter while the bike was laid over, went to kick it and it backfired and ended up burning the whole bike to the ground, had to be rescued by the park rangers they saw the flames and thought it was a forest fire, I doubt that would have happened on a fuel injected bike but for the carbureted ones I wouldnt remove the backfire screen.

So I’m taking a risk by doing this if my bike already kinda pops and crackles on downshift?

hondas backfire screen is insane its like a fucking air filter its self. i had to get that shit out of there. and i really think its more for getting the bikes out of the factory lean as possible. once you remove this, reject the bike to the point where it sounds like your almost giving it throttle on decelaration and you wont have to worry about backfires. plus your carb is closed mostly when a bikefire accurs. so its rare if anything. and ive never had it happen
