This video, and all of the reaction videos on this channel, transform the original material from entertainment into a commentary, educational and/or opinion expressing video. The original content that is “reacted” to is analyzed by professional commentators and podcasters, who use the performance to highlight instrumental technique and further discuss song structure etc. In addition, musical theory and style choices are also often analyzed and discussed.
While the video does use the entire song (as things such as instrumental performance and song structure must also be considered), there are many pauses. In addition, often the parts of the original content are played multiple times to examine a particular element of the song being reacted to. During pauses, reactors go into detail on the emotions that are invoked by the song or content, and why or why not they are good, or if they’re particularly difficult. The pauses often last a long time, so much so that this video cannot be considered a replacement for the original material. A link to the original video is always placed in the about section, and viewers are encouraged to watch it without pauses and commentary.

Saw Hanabie and Nemophila together at Zepp Nagoya Japan. Best concert I’ve ever seen. Mayu and Yukina both singing Nemophila’s Zen together was an event in itself. Check out Nemophila’s live of Zen and you’ll see why it was so good.

Mayu and Yukina at the same time - what a treat! Zen is a banger. Sometimes my favorite song. Haraguchi-san wrote that one for meditation.

Nemophila is fire live, saw them in L.A. in late 2022. Zen, Revive & Dissenion are other tracks to check out. You guys need to check out Lovebites from Japan (Speed, Power,Thrash, Ballads). Check out "Hammer of Wrath" & "Judgement Day" from Knockin at Heaven's Gate tp start. They are elite musicians

Luckily, we don't have to choose one: we can have *all* those bands!
For more kickass Nemophila, try the MVs for 'Raitei', 'Revive' and 'Adabana', or the recent live videos for 'Zen' and 'Oiran'.
It's pronounced "Neh-moe-fill-uh" or "Neh-moe-feel-uh". The third syllable is kind of between "fill" and "feel".
They formed as a backing band for the lead singer's solo session but worked so well they stayed together as a permanent band. Their foundation is metal/metalcore but they visit literally any other genre or style as the mood hits them. They've done hard rock, pop, punk, rap/nu-metal and more. Most recently they've just released an 80s/90s style power ballad. I generally dislike power ballads but I have to confess they did a beautiful job. We never know what to expect from them - except we know it'll kick ass.

I got to see Nemophila in Dallas, Tx back in March 2023 and Band-Maid in Austin, Tx in May of 2023 plus Hanabie later in the year and they were all incredible live. There are many awesome Japanese bands that are creating some of the best metal I have heard in years. My personal favorite is Band-Maid even though they are technically not metal but more hard rock. Other bands that I recommend are Lovebites, Jiluka, Asterism, Trident, Aldious, Bridear, Fate Gear, Maximum the Hormone, Crystal Lake, Blood Staiin Child, and there are many more that I can’t remember. Also South Korean K-Rock bands Rolling Quartz and DIH are great.

Saki, the guitarist on the right, is a Babymetal fan. Along with their originals they post a lot of covers of bands like Iron Maiden and Kiss on their RUclips channel. And among these is a cover of Babymetal's song "Megitsune". The top Japanese bands in general are great live. They are all talented musicians, professional and disciplined.

Let me set you straight. The inspiration for all the bands you mentioned can be traced back to 1981, and the OG all-femaie Japanese band, SHOW-YA. Try 私は嵐 (WATASHI WA ARASHI / I Am The Storm) from 1989 - ruclips.net/video/Sg4PqPXggcY/видео.html (These ladies are still rocking today)
Then, check out NEMOPHILA’s cover/tribute of WATASHI WA ARASHI, featuring Miki Tsunoda, the drummer of SHOW-YA (recorded while murata tamu was out on maternity leave) - ruclips.net/video/d0HeO9GS3CA/видео.html
Then watch KEIKO TERADA, front woman of SHOW-YA, introduce NEOMOPHILA’s debut performance at NAONのYAON 2021, the annual all female Rock festival produced by SHOW-YA
    - ruclips.net/video/19VQ9tkWksQ/видео.htmlsi=XYESpDMH5Yr8jvQl
Finally, here is a video of the medley closing NAONのYAON 2022, in which you can see NEMOPHILA performing alongside SHOW-YA, GACHARIC SPIN (another band you should know), and others - ruclips.net/video/J4VhJm-TiCc/видео.html
BTW, NEMOPHILA have visited the U.S. twice. I was able to see them each time.

Nemophila - "baby blue eyes" flower, "Rurikarakusa" in Japanese; grows in N-America and is appreciated in Japan (see "Hitachi Seaside Park").
The band was formed in 2019, originally as a "session" brought together by...
    Mayu - the vocalist (ex- Lipstick band);
    Haraguchi-san - bass, backing vocals, was Mayu's friend and colleague from Music College (ex - Holderlins band);
    Tamu Murata - drums, backing vocals, one the most respected session musician in Japan (countless bands), with also her own original carrier; she's also the wife of Akira Yamaoka, musician/composer, known especially for his videogames OSTs, in particular for "Silent Hill";
Saki (ex - "Mary's Blood" band for a decade, "Destrose", and others), she's a "young sacred monster" in J-metal) guitar, backing vocals, and...
Hazuki (Li-sa-X / KOIAI bands) - guitar, backing vocals; both, Saki and Hazuki have a lot of experience.
Nemophila made an amazing fandom impression during the pandemic, thru RUclips clips...so far about 50 Western/Japanese awesomely bonkers covers, and about 40 original, freakishly insane good songs (singles, EPs, 2 albums - "Revive" and "Seize The Faith"; 3rd album "Evolve" in January 2024).
    Discography, alphabetical order:
    01. ADABANA - 徒花 - "Fruitless/seedless flower"
    02. ALIVE
    03. AMA-TE-RAS (Amaterasu goddess)
    04. Another Story (ballad)

    14. Fighter
    15. GAME OVER (ballad)
    16. Hammer Down
    17. Hōzuki - 鬼灯 - "Demon Light" - "Winter cherry" / "Japanese lantern" plant
    18. HYPNOSIS
    19. Justice
    20. Life (ballad - their "official anthem")
    21. MONSTERS
    22. Night Flight
    23. now I here (ballad)
    24. ODYSSEY (ballad)
    25. OIRAN - "Courtesan" (their first original song, in february 2020)
    26. OSKR
    27. RAITEI - 雷霆 - "Thunder"
    28. REVIVE
    29. RISE
    30. Rock’n’Roll Is? (an homage to famous rock bands/artists; the lyrics/melody and style of play are Easter Eggs)

    32. Seize the Faith
    33. Soaring ~to be continued~(instrumental)
    34. SORAI - "Autumn wind" (was supposed to be the original name for the band)
    35. STYLE
    36. - 群青
    37. Waiting for you
    39. YELL 〜軌跡〜
    39. ZEN
    ________
    - Another Story... written during the pandemic, with the purpose of lifting the spirit;
performed only once on stage for a live stream at the end of December 2020...
    but - according to Saki - "was part of 'Cheer to Art, Tokyo Project' (started by Tokyo Metropolitan Government to offer place for artists to upload their work...since all lives, concerts, events and exhibitions had been suspended, all venues had been closed";
was posted on RUclips, on this governmental channel: アートにエールを!【音楽 1ch】; although is no longer there, there are some reactions to it, just search "NEMOPHILA / AnotherStory".
    - Breaking Out, Creature, Ultramarine... not part of any official release, but they are performed sometimes in the concerts.
    - Blooming...released only on the official Nemophila RUclips channel, it is performed sometimes in the concerts.

@@SuperMetalBrosPodcast Lovebites will be part of ProgPower 2024 in Atlanta this coming September. It will be their US debut and they are next to last band of the third day. Six bands play each day of the 4 day festival. Lovebites will get a 90 minute set and they play after Soen and before Amorphis. I have tickets for the 3rd and 4th day. Lovebites is also scheduled for 3 festivals in Europe as of now. I have no doubt that they will add a few more festivals and their own headlining dates in both Europe and the US.
I saw Nemophila in Dallas this past March. Of the shows I saw in 2023, Nemophila was only behind Jinjer as my favorite. Mayu is not on Tatiana's level but she is not far behind.

Also if you want some more epic japanese female metal you HAVE TO check out Lovebites! they have released I think 3 albums and have a lot of official live videos on their channel taken from their several concert Blu-Rays. Most people's first song of them is Holy War. Hammer of Wrath is also a great first song and I've seen it suggested in the comments.
The rabbit hole on both of these bands goes deep. They barely ever miss.

If you are into heavy rock, then BAND-MAID is also a good all female band from Japan. No screaming but sometimes some grit. But they are good and heavy. The standard first reaction is the official live version of "Domination". A very cool combination of two songs is the official live version of "Manners and Black Hole". Manners is a very groovy rock song that is totally bass driven and Black Hole is just total and beautiful mayhem.

They can do many different styles though, which you will hear if you listen to their song called just that, Style. Their originals are always great, but they also do some awesome covers from time to time, Walk (Pantera), Aces High (Iron Maiden) and Master of Puppets (Metallica) are among my favorites.

    Part 2:
Mutant Monster (2008 Punk-pop, really good at it. Unfortunately, they have not been active in some time.)
    ruclips.net/video/Fd6ymMR40NU/видео.html
Narumi (solo prog-rock and fusion compositions-a change of pace from a master guitarist who was once the star lead for Destrose. She recently had her own band, Lonesome Blue, which just disbanded. I’m sure she will turn up with another band.) ruclips.net/video/cRyCaHjwIgk/видео.html
Nemophila: (2019 Supergroup of ex-Mary's Blood guitarist Saki, ex-Lipstick vocalist Mayu, ex-Disqualia guitarist Hazuki, ex-Hölderlins bassist Haraguchi-san, and ex-Soramimi drummer Muratatam. I’ve seen them live and they are just explosive.) ruclips.net/video/lh-dVLKP314/видео.html
54 Nude Honeys (1992 Early Japanese punk-they toured the UK and Europe, and reports are that their crowds were as crazy as the crowds at Sex Pistols concerts) ruclips.net/video/jHnJSoGN5Mk/видео.html
Otoboke Beaver (2009 in-your-face feminist thrash punk, way out there) They have toured Europe and the U.S.: ruclips.net/video/fkWfFXnLpYg/видео.html
Rie aka Suzaku (Instrumental guitar virtuoso. She is also the founder of Muses, a high-intensity fusion band (see above.) ruclips.net/video/m6Z2GD5SqNs/видео.html
Sokoninaru (2011 Progressive metal, math rock, extremely technical; male/female cofounders)
    ruclips.net/video/MVxl0zXZBR4/видео.html
Sonic Lover Reckless (2018 Special project of Miyako Watanabe, one of Lovebites’ two incomparable guitarists) ruclips.net/video/DXZ-qhxd1VI/видео.html
Telecide (2016 Metalcore, aggressive and melodic at the same time) Disbanded; Natsumi, their drummer, is now the drummer for Bridear ruclips.net/video/keq-7ZCluFc/видео.html
Tricot (2010 Post-progressive math-rock, highly technical with crazy time signatures and polyrhythms) ruclips.net/video/P_B_GalsJrE/видео.html
Trident (formerly Kakumei, renamed in 2020 with some personnel changes. Evolved from pop-punk to thrashier hard rock; several lineup changes but the bassist and lead singer have been constants) ruclips.net/video/9k9txMouU34/видео.html
Unlucky Morpheus (2008 Female leads Fuki (vo) and Jill (violin). This band is a deep well unto itself, they cross many subgenres of metal; Fuki and Jill also do other projects and Fuki is lead for at least two other bands including Doll$Boxx, above) ruclips.net/video/V8i_QhOgsKw/видео.html
Wagakki Band (2012 Folk-Metal fusion band, all jedi-level musicians, half of them play traditional Japanese instruments and the other half play standard metal instruments) This song was originally written for a virtual (AI) singer, referred to as a Vocaloid:
    ruclips.net/video/Q2meWkWqc-I/видео.html
Yōsei Teikoku (1997 Rock-Folk-Metal-Electronica fusion ensemble) Set up in a fictional Fairy Empire, led by founder Yui, they have done a lot of anime themes and sound-tracks and also perform original songs live, in character.
    ruclips.net/video/_EeYxtAeaX4/видео.html
There are many more. Others that come to mind are BRATS (cofounded by one of the members of Ladybaby), Drop’s, Stereopony, Scandal (still touring globally), and Princess Princess, which all tend more in the pop direction, and the Bang-Dream projects, which are live groups based on Manga series (there are 9 bands so far in Bang-Dream). And of course, there are other female-fronted Kawaii-metal groups like Ladybaby and Ironbunny, to name the two best-known after Babymetal. I have found listings of over 600 such bands dating back to 1980. These are my picks as the most interesting for reasons of quality, longevity or historical impact. If you find others you think belong on this list, please let me know. And if you find a dead link, also please let me know so I can fix the list. Thank you!

That's a good live version but it's not the best, imo. I bought their 4th anniversary 'Rizing Nemo' blu ray and it is the best live concert recording I have ever seen. The live versions of Zen, Seize the Fate, and Change the World are all from that blu ray. Zen is the heaviest of those three. Seize the Fate is the title track from their last album. Change the World is a fun stadium rock anthem with some sing-along. But that's just scratching the surface. Their most recent release is Odyssey, a classic rock / metal ballad that showcases Mayu's vocals. Now I Here is a live ballad with an amazing dual / harmonizing guitar solo that will bring tears to your eyes. Then there are the songs most reactors start with - Dissention, Revive, and Raitai. Then... there's their fantastic cover collection. I wasn't looking for a new favorite band, but they took it anyway. 😂

Nemophil-a (you got it right) were founded in 2019. They are a supergroup composed of:
    ex-Mary's Blood guitarist Saki
    ex-Lipstick vocalist Mayu
ex-Disqualia guitarist Hazuki (also plays with Lisa-X)
    ex-Hölderlins bassist Haraguchi-san, and
    ex-Soramimi drummer Murata Tamu
This is one of the bands to watch, no question. They just started in 2019 and are blowing up fast. As you can see from the gang vocals, they don't take themselves too seriously-Hazuki even winks. They almost seem to be enjoying a private joke, that goes "Hi, we're a bunch of cute, fun girls and we are going to rip your face off, and you are going to like it.”
Initially, they were just a side project, co-organized by Mayu with some help from Saki, largely to keep busy in the early days of the pandemic. They started by posting metal covers of well-known rock, pop and metal songs. Then they began posting originals, starting with “Oiran” ruclips.net/video/eyb2NtPwcxc/видео.html
The viral reaction seems to have convinced them they were onto something potentially big, so they’ve been putting a lot more work into it, including some successful live-streams and an appearance at the annual Japanese female rock festival NAONのYAON. They tend toward hard and heavy, but also do ballads and some pop covers. Drummer Murata Tamu took time off to give birth to her son, and on her return, the rest of the bandmembers gave her a welcome back that resulted in an extremely moving moment captured on live stream: “Life” ruclips.net/video/HFnEYhbEAqg/видео.html
After Oiran, others to check include "Dissension", which will fry whatever is left of your circuits: ruclips.net/video/26aMuahxz8c/видео.html and “Raitei”, which means “Thunder” in Japanese, and yes, they bring the thunder: ruclips.net/video/lh-dVLKP314/видео.html
More recent drops that showcase their intensity and versatility:
    “Adabana” ruclips.net/video/AxYiOwsu6wU/видео.html
    “Style” ruclips.net/video/Aph5GON6rPc/видео.html
    (written by their bassist, Haraguchi-san)
    “Seize the Fate” ruclips.net/video/4tpgLyckVYg/видео.html
    “Rise” ruclips.net/video/rD3VMAm-9iA/видео.html
Saki is the only one who had been with a breakout band before (Mary’s Blood); Hazuki and Murata-tamu are also considered elite musicians and have worked with a lot of other top artists. Hara-san is the youngest but is clearly a great talent and has been developing in front of our eyes. She has already written several songs for the group. And of course Mayu is quickly establishing herself as a great metal vocalist.
They just toured the U.S. (their second go at performing here): I saw them live and they blew the roof off the place.

Just to put the facts straight: Babymetal does use soli from time to time as an intro, and sometimes in their songs.
Try "tales of destiny" and "the one". The best thing to do is to listen to them in one go, as both songs together are actually one masterpiece.
    For your metal contest:
    unlucky morpheus - "Angreifer"
    gacharic spin - "I wish I"

Thanks for the reaction. Nemophila is great, I was fortunate to see them in LA in 2022. A couple of other bands you may want to consider for your Japanese metal tournament.
Ningen Isu have been playing for 35 years, and released their 23rd album last year. Some call them the Japanese Black Sabbath, but like most Japanese bands they don't fit into that simple box. Heartless Scat is the song most encounter first.
Onmyo-za have been playing for more than 20 years, they released their 16th album last year. Inspired by Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, among others. Their song Haou is a good starting point.

I think the difference between the bands really is the genre, Babymetal is an Idol/Metal group, Hanabie. is Hardcore/Metalcore band, and Nemophila is Thrash Metal band. You should probably check out "LOVEBITES - Stand and deliver" if you want some Dragonforce. LOVEBITES is a Power Metal band, and is also on par with these amazing female fronted metal bands. BABYMETAL, Band-Maid, Hanabie., Nemophila, LOVEBITES, Kokeshi, MAZE, The Dimrays, PassCode, Broken By The Scream, MergingMoon, KILLT MELT LAND, Saiseiga, SiM, Mary's Blood, LADY BABY, Maximum the Hormone, Fate Gear, IRON BUNNY, Crystal Lake, TRIDENT, DOLL$BOX, Little Lilith, DEXCORE, TELECiDE, Jiluka, Kosame, Candye Syrup, m!sa, A crowd of rebellion, GREED FIVE EGG'S, Yoysei Teikoku, Knosis, SHADES, Mistress, DAZZEL VISION.

You have to add Lovebites. It is (probably) the best heavy metal band today. Start with the 2023 live version of "the Hammer of Wrath" is my advice, but really, they have 70+ fantastic songs. So, there is much to choose from. They are all female BTW. Females dominate metal in Japan :)
If you really want something FAST and heavy, then there is an audio only version of "Soldier stand Solitarily", but then you will not see the beautiful ladies shredding. OK - there is a streaming version of it where you will see the beautiful ladies eating cake and stuff while being goofy.

You are going to have a seriously flawed show down if you don't get Lovebites in there. If you want some more non-kawaii female Japanese metal bands in there then Lovebites is a great pick.
Of the 30 or so Lovebites songs in my top songs of all time playlist, easily the most songs of any band I have ever liked, I would personally go for the live version of Judgement Day LOVEBITES / Judgement Day [Official Live Video taken from "Knockin' At Heaven's Gate"]
I adore Hanabie, Nemophila, Lovebites as well as Broken by the Scream and Passcode
As for another Nemophila, I would suggest Zen live, Revive live, Oiran live, Hypnosis MV

Odyssey is their latest song and it's a balad and very good. Not all their songs have screaming. Change the world is great you should check it out it's a toe tapper. Zen is all screaming and a bit of a favourite of mine. They are renowned for doing covers and some of them have many views. My favourite are Shimi from Maximum the Hormone and Lovebites. Don't know if you have heard of BAND-MAID but they are another great band. They are not metal or even hard rock they are just rock but they are ridiculously talented and probably the best rock band in the world. They sound great live and are renowned for long concerts the last one going for over 3 hours. They have over 100 songs including acoustic versions of some of their songs. Try the song Unleash or anything really.

I love these girls, they are all AWESOME! Not to compare any band to each other so much, but to expand your entertainment pleasure. LOVEBITES is the band you want to watch for "dueling" guitar solos. Many will say they are two of the best guitarists in the world right now, and overall one of the best bands as well. Some even say they are simply the best. All their songs are great, like Nemophila. There are several below who have made specific recommendations. Same can be said for BANDMAID. Nemophila just dropped another a couple days ago, even better than this. " NEMOPHILA / AMA-TE-RAS [Official Live Video] " ruclips.net/video/96LQimRqJgM/видео.html All of these mentioned are just as good, if not better live! Welcome to the all female Japanese band rabbit hole. It's a very deep hole and you will never be able to get back out of it.

In fact BabyMetal has nothing to do with the current proliferation of female bands, which was triggerd in 2005 with the successful reunion of the classic female hard rock band Show-Ya... immediately following, influential bands such as Destrose, Aldious, Mary's Blood, Gacharic Spin or Disqualia appeared on the rock scene.
Nowadays, in addition to Nemophila you can find dozens of female bands, covering the entire spectrum of rock, from pop rock with bands like Scandal, to bands that fuse hard rock with metal core like Nemophila.
But probably today the two most relevant Japanese girl bands are Band-Maid and Lovebites.😉

@codyoconnell1222 I don't know about Hanabie but you do know that Nemophila's producer writes most of their music and they've used outside writers for their new album. To me, their music is not really focused and seems to be all over the place, maybe it has something to do with their songwriting situation.

Metal combat? You have no idea what you're getting into. Japan has had an active all-girl metal scene since at least 1981. This is a starter list of all-female (or in eight cases, mixed gender) metal, punk, hard-rock and post-rock bands, with founding dates where I know them. It's alphabetical, except for the first three, which are at the top of the list for historical reasons. They set the table for the explosion of Japanese female hard-rock, punk and metal bands. Note: I have tried to pick clips that are high quality and are representative of the band's style. (it will take two comments since there is a length limit).
If you put the question out there, you are likely to get suggestions mainly for Band-Maid, Babymetal, Lovebites, Nemophila, Unlucky Morpheus and Wagakki Band. You can’t go wrong with any of those, but find time to check out more of the bands on this list. They are all worth the time and deserve the love, and many will really surprise you. My personal favorites include Asterism, Bridear, Doll$Boxx, existTtrace, Hagane, Hanabie, Mary’s Blood, Sokoninaru and Tricot. Ok, the list:
Show-Ya (1981 The original female J-metal band, founded before Metallica-this is from their 24th (!) anniversary concert-and they are still touring) They have a strong Deep Purple vibe, and in my view they belong in any rock or music hall of fame: “I am the Storm” ruclips.net/video/oJ_5Gv3vFjQ/видео.html
Shonen Knife (1981 The world’s first bubblegum punk band. They have done several world tours, and opened for Nirvana, who were big fans. They also perform as a Ramones tribute band called Osaka Ramones): ruclips.net/video/w9LUlYzOiWs/видео.html
Destrose (2005; This band was never stable, but has become almost mythic in metal history, because so many great bands spun out of Destrose, including Lovebites--you will recognize the drummer and bassist.) Here are two clips-a lot of them get taken down so please let me know if either of these is dead:
    ruclips.net/video/JpyzVlPJC2g/видео.html
    ruclips.net/video/e-CH-FLS2kM/видео.html
(This cuts off just after Narumi’s guitar solo-but they didn’t cut that, and it’s gorgeous.)
Aldious (2008 Glamorous and kick-ass rockers-one of the first generation all-girl metal bands, along with Destrose) ruclips.net/video/sfkJT0rra-8/видео.html
Asterism (2013 Not all female, but will melt your face off- the guitarist Haruka Noma is off the charts talented and just turned 20) ruclips.net/video/IfxMi0Bx4x0/видео.html
Babymetal (2010 The flagship “Kawaii metal” band and the most well-known Japanese metal act outside of Japan. Combining “Kawaii” (cute) Japanese pop tropes over thunderous heavy metal backing) ruclips.net/video/cK3NMZAUKGw/видео.html
Band-Maid (2013 OK, there are 160+ great songs by them. Easily the best known band on this list other than Babymetal, they are more hard rock and prog than metal. Did a 14 city US tour in 2022 that sold out 48 hours after being listed, and a 2023 global 10th anniversary tour. There is a ton of fan footage of that tour up on youtube, a lot of which is great stuff.) Here is a live clip: ruclips.net/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/видео.html
Bridear (2011 Heavy, technical-and their tiny bassist also growls): ruclips.net/video/LQIDqudG_DQ/видео.html
Cyntia (2011 Second wave, hard, heavy, but with prog and symphonic touches)
    ruclips.net/video/FnhObh5i_3U/видео.html
D-Drive (2009 Instrumental progressive metal and fusion; Mixed gender. Extraordinary, technical dual lead guitars featuring Yuki and Seiji) Here is a lockdown version of their 2009 hit “Cassis Orange”: ruclips.net/video/Mi0ykRvZ1LA/видео.html
Disqualia (2015 Destrose spin-out, featuring Narumi, one of the best guitarists of this generation, and Hazuki, then an up-and-coming talent who is now a member of Nemophila) ruclips.net/video/-M5zBKrTJRg/видео.html
Doll$Boxx (2012 Wild mix of metal, electropop, and god-knows what else; a collaboration between Fuki and Gacharic Spin) ruclips.net/video/mu2z4Uf9Tgc/видео.html
East of Eden (2023 Supergroup assembled by Ayasa, the fabulous violinist whose day job is with Morphonica, one of the BangDream projects. Guitar: Yuki from D-Drive; Drums: Mizuki from Lonesome Blue; Bass: Wakazaemon, from Marty Friedman’s band; Vocals: Minato Akane, from Predia) “Evolve” ruclips.net/video/gL2GQWhJaNQ/видео.html
existTtrace (2003: Visual Kei, progressive, technical, some death-metal and goth touches) They have kept their original lineup intact for 20 years and counting. ruclips.net/video/Oz1Lv8XGBF0/видео.html
Fate Gear (2015 Super-group, one of the Destrose spinouts-continually changing lineup built around Mina (g) and (until very recently) Erica (b); I consider this video one of the best on this list): ruclips.net/video/tLQbsoKQN-0/видео.html
Gacharic Spin (2009 Founded by two high school classmates, Hana (Dr, Vo, multiple instruments) and Koga (B) who had already been in other bands (and was previously a lingerie model). Everything from punk-pop to heavy metal and progressive; highly technical) Here is their first video, with original singer Armmy (d. 2015): ruclips.net/video/vfzIt20_xXg/видео.html
Gallhammer (2003 Black/Death/Doom/Punk; this is from their 2007 UK/Europe tour; co-founder Vivien Slaughter is now making electronic ambient music!): ruclips.net/video/2fTiyOO1nZE/видео.html
Galmet (2006 Straight-up death metal, but in prom dresses) ruclips.net/video/PnvrOLeRt-I/видео.html
Ganglion (2010 Metal with a hint of electronica):
    ruclips.net/video/q9j4t3Ms-Sg/видео.html
Hagane (2018 Started with Sakura posting blistering metal guitar covers on youtube while in high-school, and the rest of the girls finding her; full lineup came together in 2019. (note: sadly, the group just disbanded in early 2023) Here, Sakura does a magical solo using a Phrygian scale at warp speed:
    ruclips.net/video/k8NTRJ_yTxY/видео.html
Hanabie (2019 Kawaii death metal, deathcore, thrash. Technical. Most frequent comment is “That’s nuts.” One of the bands to watch over the next few years, they are playing three North American festivals in 2023.) ruclips.net/video/G18yyvPCiTM/видео.html
    Kakumei (2013--see Trident, below)
Lisa-X Band (Prodigy 16-year-old guitarist Lisa-X and a rotating cast of fellow bandmembers, often including Hazuki (of Disqualia and Nemophila). ruclips.net/video/mN_oLqTka6M/видео.html
Lonesome Blue (2021 Progressive rock, pop-metal fusion. This was Narumi’s (see below) long-awaited new band; unfortunately it looks like they have disbanded after only one album.) This song is a wild fusion of classic Disco with Metal: ruclips.net/video/aEdyEEnMTy8/видео.html
Lovebites (2016 Modern Power, Speed, Thrash and Heavy Metal. Already making a global splash, melodic but face-meltingly technical. Here is their most famous official MV-it’s even better than Shadowmaker IMO) ruclips.net/video/hLFelI93VkM/видео.html
Mardelas (2014 Another spin-off from Destrose; mixed male/female; leader Marina Hebiishi has one of the best voices in the biz) ruclips.net/video/Wd8P7wTnWJs/видео.html
Mary's Blood (2008 The first major Destrose spin-out; Jedi-level lineup.) Here, Saki murders her guitar without breaking any nails: ruclips.net/video/MLM2unV0kwU/видео.html
Maximum the Hormone (1998 Crazy, chaotic mashups of deathcore, nu-metal, pop and high-speed rapping. Co-founder Nao (drums) is the female member of the band. She has been a major influence on female drummers throughout Japan.) This clip captures just a bit of the madness: 予襲復讐 (Yoshu Fukushu) ruclips.net/video/beN5ep5MrdY/видео.html
MergingMoon (2010 Mix of prog and melodic death metal. Vocalist U is Japan’s terrifying answer to Tatiana of Jinjer) ruclips.net/video/sIL-vgHNOu0/видео.html
Muses (2020 Hard fusion with funk overtones; Supergroup assembled by the guitarist, Rie aka Suzaku, and including Juna Serita, the phenomenal bassist who was previously with Tokyo Groove Jyoshi and is now also with the Jazz Avengers. They absolutely rip.

Can't even compare babymetal to Nemophila. They don't even play their own instruments lol. Nemophila is so good. Can be metalcore, thrash, classic rock, 80s metal, etc. And they legit do two solos like that every song. They do so much. But in my opinion Nemophila is at their best when they are heavy.
If you wanna check them out live again, check out "Oiran" live. It's on their channel. One of their heaviest songs. Insane solos. It's so good.
Their best songs in general are Rise, Oiran, Dissension, Adabana, Zen, Enten, Life, and Game Over in my opinion.

I guess Mayu is not important as shy does not play an instrument. Dumb, tired decade old take.

BabyMetal is singing act backed by an excellent backing band, that was put together by an entertainment group. They are good at what they do, and have helped pave the way for some of the newer groups. But no they are not a band, as far as I know they do not have any composing or writing credits on any songs. Groups like Band Maid, Nemo, and Lovebites do, hell Haraguchi wrote and composed 3 songs on there last album by herself, Saki has several composing and writing credits. As well as Mayu with numerous writing credits. As far as playing instruments, in one of their concerts last year Nemophila switched everything up with Hazuki on vocals, Mayu and Haraguchi on guitar, Tamu on Bass and Saki on drums. I don’t think the comment was meant as an insult, but they are vastly different groups.

Don't lump all Japanese female bands under kawaii metal.
In the case of nemofira, the vocalist and drummer are mothers with children, so it's rude to describe them as kawaii

Baby Metal are just a song and dance trio with a backing band. No comparison to Nemophila, LoveBites or the supreme Band-Maid.
