until 1857 taj mahal used to be studded with diamonds and many precious stones looked even prettier before those were looted during the British rule. top spire of taj mahal used to be all gold, it got looted and replaced with a brass one. indian style fruit and flower gardens were cut and british lawns were grown.

I used to think much of India is developed/developing and spoke English but these videos prove otherwise. Still the same crowds, dirt, mess everywhere. Wondering how long will it take our country to bloody DEVELOP. It's been developing since I was born 30 years ago.

And you should definitely try traditional Bengali food also, it is from the Eastern Side of India.
I am missing india.. I stayed there for 2 monts for work and I really enjoyed their hospitality. I stayed in gurgaon and got the chance to explore delhi and agra. Food was amazing and the visit to Taj Mahal was one of the highlights of my trip. Kulfi was one of my favorites but I agree the crowd can be pretty overwhelming. Some street sellers even ran after my car trying to sell me some stuff. But all in all it was fun and unforgettable.

is definitely worth not it with the money you have to spend. before visiting Taj I had high Hopes and and when saw it felt disappointed. then I went to southern Indian state of Tamilnadu, saw lots of the Ancient structures there some of them are thousands of years old and to say I was awestruck would be an understatement.
I am vegetarian and i can bet on that Vegetarian food in india is very delicious and top notch - When you have butter Nan with shahi paneer and some online with a lemon squeeze on it with some carrot achar , the perfect meal to have anytime 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤

I think I read that the trade in spices built the Taj Mahal. Europeans in the 1500s were paying a lot of money to buy spices since it was a sign of social status to have spices. They also wanted their food to taste better. Spain was bringing in a lot of gold and silver from the Americas and this was traded for Indian spices. The Mughal Emperor got rich from such a lucrative trade and this allowed him to splurge on extravagant projects like the Taj Mahal.
They say the Taj was originally built as a Jain Temple, converted into a Shiva Temple by the Shivites (as they have done with many other Jain temples), then converted into a mosque & tomb, and was almost torn down/scrapped for its valuable marble by the British East India Company. (most of the precious stones in the walls and the golden fork on top of the dome were removed and looted by the Moguls and British)
