I'm a big fan of Bethesda games, but most of my time spent in them is just roaming from location to location. What if I were to... NOT do that?
I'm sure that'd make for a great challenge run.
Someone should do that...

This is how i would play fallout 3 when i was ten years old. Literally would roleplay being a megaton settler and even passed out just sitting at the brass lantern.
I would be disturbed playing this if i was 10 lol
@@eclatshwartzbaumcybertune2063 I played it when I was 9 or 10 lol. I wasn't as much disturbed as I was excited to be playing such a big rpg. I wanted the game since the trailer I saw because rpg's weren't this top notch back then.
lmao why did all 10 year olds act like npc's in games back then (im guilty of this too)
@@salvo7288 It was immersive (? I used to roleplay as a junkie and steal that sweet Leo's stash for myself.
I guess we were more imaginative in our younger ages, I literally could spent an entire day roleplaying with soldier toys :P
@@eclatshwartzbaumcybertune2063 I played around 8, 9 (I was born in 2000) but being a game I don't take it that seriously, and I really can't humanize the characters to actually feel wrong/sad/traumatized with it. Our generation was raised with violent games :p so I don't disregard the possibility of being desensibilized.
Although I'd rather have kids playing Fallout with their particular view on politics than Call of Duty, Battlefield and many other propaganda games funded and supported by the US government💀 The way Fallout attacks and critics both sides of the Cold War is beautiful and we could write entire essays about it, I wish we have more games like this and less Pro-US/Pro-Soviets bs
This is literally someone being stranded on an island and going insane starting to talk to rocks and sticks
💀💀💀
(Cast away flashbacks) *WILSON!*
If I remember correctly, a plane was carrying the bomb in megaton. It crashed and probably left that massive crater, leaving the bomb and the settlers built the town with the plane scrap metal
Craterside supply has the plane’s cockpit above the door
One of the settlers tells you that they got all the plane scraps from an air station a few miles away. I think it's the Sheriff that mentions that tidbit of lore.
The plane comes from an airport nearby, the nuke was there before the settlers brung the plane parts to the crater.
How did no one mention the main gate to the town is a jet engine?
I like the concept here. Boredom forces us to seek stimulation, and thus explore our limited surroundings in greater detail or with greater imagination.
@@Tplusvmf huh
I watched this whole video fully expecting you to have a couple million subscribers, and this video a few hundred if not million views. To see someone so, top tier so to say having such little attention is a shocker, you are definitely up there with the best fallout content creators, though i understand your channel is not entirely fallout. It is not often I am captivated into watching a 40 minute video. Keep it up, I swear you have great potential, and have earned yourself a subscriber.
Thanks for the kind words 😁
@@PretzelYT Still here. Your content is still amazing, even better in fact! I cant remember how many subs you had back when i commented that but, you are definitely becoming a mightier and mightier channel. Keep it up and im here for the journey.
Damn, I was really intrigued by how this video turned out. I'd love to see you do 10 Hours in the Imperial City in Oblivion next or something.
I do that every playthrough. Spent the whole day pickpocketing people. Spent the night at the slammer. Repeat.
Your videos are so high quality. props
Thanks pal. With every video, I feel like I'm getting better.
@@PretzelYT it's true!
This was probably the most entertaining fallout 3 video I've ever watched. Thanks algorith!

*Deputy Steel*
God, that takes me back to the first time I ever played Fallout 3 back in 2010. That was the one and only time I ever went into the Megaton Armory.
Great vid dude
feeling so sneaky just to get plastered across the wall
My favorite thing to do in megaton is get to the highest point, equip a weapon that gives you a backpack thing (minigun or shishkebab), jump off, and toggle the pip boy before hitting the ground.
It glitches you around and can sometimes launch you into space.
I've never heard of that, what a bizarre interaction. If I ever return to Fallout 3 or New Vegas for one of these, I'll have to try that out.
@@PretzelYT Really? It's so much fun! It doesn't work in new vegas as well, but it still glitches your guy out if done properly. Basically in fallout 3 what's happening is when you hit pip boy in mid-air, your character model (including your shishkebab/minigun backpack) freezes in place, but YOU are still falling, so if you hit the ground before the pip boy is fully brought up, you're jerked back to where your character/backpack was, and thus is basically sling-shots you into the sky, or gives you a brief glimpse of your character's model being stretched like taffy.
I was actually curious how the hell a backpack would cause that kind of interaction, thanks for the explanation! That makes a lot of sense... in its own weird way.
this is such a unique idea and it made me wanna play fallout 3 again, keep it up man
17:40 Im feeling i remember it being a plane crash. And then they used some of the wreckage to build the town.
I think I heard that too. Possibly a plane carrying the nuclear bomb in the center of town? 🤔
Man I loved this video so much :D My favorite moment is at 32:17:
"Combat Shotgun! Chinese Assault Rifle! 10mm Pistol, you KNOW I got that Blicky 🥶🔫"
Love this idea! Reminds me of the first time I played and was so enamored with the world that I explored every nook, including the useless bathrooms and bunk house. No surprise it made you go on a murder/stealing spree though, lol.
Also, the crater was apparently caused by a bomber plane crashing, not the bomb itself. Manya tells you if you ask about the city, if I recall correctly :)
I vaguely remember hearing about the bomber plane crashing from somewhere, but I didn't think to tie it in with the crater. Hmm...
For a random small channel ramndomly recommended, this was really really good
Photons have mass? I didint even know they were catholic.
For a youtuber who has only been making videos in earnest for 2 years this is real quality stuff, most people dont put half this amount of effort into videos.
I'd love to see similar videos for other games. Maybe like the Imperial city from oblivion, Vivek from morrowind, etc. Very interesting
Man this is exactly the type of gameplay I used to do when I was a kid, just completely immerse into the world and lose all track of time. These days though because I'm so limited on time to play, whenever I do play I feel like I need to rush through and complete objectives or else I'm wasting valuable time. I wish I could recapture the feeling of "you have absolutely no responsibilities so spend however long doing anything".
The FF7 music was a spectacular addition, loved the Shinra theme near the end
Great video! I didn't know Megaton had so much lore to it.
This video proves how much love and detail went into FO3 and people have the nerve to bad talk it
It was the last of old Bethesda. FO3 is to fallout the same as Oblivion is to Elder Scrolls
I mean a bomb that large dropping from a plane, definitely would still make a crater even without blowing up
This was hilarious, deff will need this to be a series please!
cool video :) this deserves more attention imo
My man, this is great content.
You must continue on your quest. Spend thorough time in your next destination in Fo3 for our entertainment
I think "Cowboy Pickens" would've been a good name.
I remember being so geeked out when I saw my first Protectron
Imagine prophunt in the house He dropped every item in the town into.
Journey of a Schizophrenic
There was surprisingly a lot to keep me distracted in this game. I've had some other games in mind I could cover where I would actually go mad.
Somehow I never thought about megaton's nuke wouldn't of made the crater. It's like they just fired two nukes in the same spot for the hell of it.
More of this!!! This is such a cool idea
In New Vegas, when asking Primm's rescued deputy what kind of person should be the new sheriff, he says "Somebody brave like you, but more of a homebody. Somewho who'll stick around and watch over us."
I always liked that line, and when I was doing a playthrough at the age of 17, I decided my courier would stick around and fill the role.
I dragged the corpses of the sheriff and his wife into the corner of their home, tidied up as best I could, and moved in. Everyday I patrolled the town and its outskirts, driving away wildlife and troublesome predators of the human variety. I watched over the town, and the town welcomed me gladly.
I was roughly 4 and a half hours into the playthrough upon entering Primm; I ended that savefile with 26 hours on the clock. Best playthrough of NV I ever did hands down. Bizarrely, this version of the courier has become my head-canon; the courier who barely made it out of Goodsprings at all, and never saw the Strip or Benny again after that night in the Goodsprings cemetery.
8:58
This was when I really learned what Fallout was about.
So this is what Otacon does while Snake is on his sneaking missions.
Amazing quality video and commentary. Good job :)
I cant believe that cowboy jim yee'd his last haw at your hands
Why do random small youtubers keep making some of the best and most engaging content you'll ever see on the platform
Pure morbid curiosity…
You gotta now spend 10 hours in either goodsprings, new Vegas, or diamond city
Did you know photons are catholic? They have mass.
booooooo!!
I probably would've set off the nuke after going crazy spending 10 hours in the tetanus crater.
Ima say it rn. This man needs more subs / views .
I used to spend days in the Simpsons hit and run just role playing homer driving to work, working, and then driving home again
im sorry you had to go through that.
It sure would be a shame if I forced myself to do this again sometime.
@@PretzelYT a hell of a shame.
Amazing video, those 40 minutes seemed like 10, superb entertainment
Victoria is from Rivet City. Part of the cyborg quest
5:35 I actually got jumpscared by this
I'd love to see you do this challenge for Kingdom Come: Deliverance's towns! Rattay in particular. There's a lot more you could do! Stealing items in Kingdom Come can be very rewarding with high tier weapons and armor in stores, plenty of high cost items like books and just straight up money. Dice gambling. And much more!
I have that in my Steam library, but I don't think I've played more than an hour of it a couple years ago. I could see that game being good for this. Though I'd also have to see if I like playing the game at all.
@@PretzelYT I definitely recommend it! The opening is a bit tough but it's worth pushing through, for the world alone at least; I would find myself just roleplaying as a hunter walking through the detailed forests, or a thief in the nights casing stores and heisting everything, etc. The gameplay itself becomes really rewarding as well once you get a hang of the combat, and where before a 1 on 1 fight means life or death, handling 2-3 at once feels great. Anyways, I'll stop preaching to you and let you make your own decision. Hope you end up enjoying it! Also just wanted to say, discovered your channel last night and have been devouring every video, you're great at what ya do. Look forward to everything else in the future!
First rpg I have played that felt like I was "just some guy".
Feel like you really accomplish something when you're in full plate on horseback
Do this for oblivion, the NPCs have much more freedom, I did this but only for an hour in Bruma, the main imperial city would be much better for 10 hours though, I think you would have quite a bit to do, and quite a lot of NPCs to follow and they will occasionally fight or steal and things like that, also they will buy and sell items in the shops, mostly buy but it's another layer of things.
I don't have a lot of experience with Oblivion unfortunately. I've played Morrowind and Skyrim for a bit, but Oblivion never caught my attention for one reason or another. I don't have any immediate plans to do another one of these, but I'd like to some day. And Bethesda games are PERFECT for the format.
@@PretzelYT I'd recommend taking a look at oblivion, you will definitely see how it's an in between of morrowind and skyrim, with some complexity like morrowind but still with that Bethesda skyrim feel. The NPCs are the main selling point for me, they all have thier own little life, and could do things while the player was not there, though that did have the side effect of finding the person that trains sneak skill dead more often then not because they like to try and pickpocket people but the guards end up getting them normally, plus there is an entire goblin war system that is half in the game, and many other random things, like another adventurer like the player character, you can follow them around and see them clear a few dungeons before they end up dying due to running out of health. All of this, and it's a toned down version from what they originally wanted, because the ai would end up stealing and half a town would be dead by the time someone got to it, and so now only a very small chance for them to steal ever.
I have blown up the town … moria becomes a ghoul and there is lots of smoke lol .
No words. Only. 👏👏👏👏
Now do this with Goodsprings in NV or Diamond city in 4 lol
I mean I personally just blow it up, but getting 10 hours of content from it is seriously impressive.
22:38 this actually made me chuckle
Underrated video tbh
When I do bethesda games I generally go to a new location and do all the quests I can without leaving and then follow the main quest to the next location. It feels more immersive and realistic, especially in Fallout. It's a wasteland out there, why not hangout for a while and meet the locals?
Our guy spent 10 hours in Megaton and didn't send Leo to rehab :(
10 hours turned out to be both longer AND shorter than I expected. It felt boring at points, but by the end, there were things I wish I would have done. I didn't even know you could do that with Leo!
Maybe they kept the broken computer so Hardin could practice typing? Also great video man!
I have tried to spend a lot of time in megaton and I still get confused there and the constant beige and brown and green/amber screens really rot my brain but that's most of the game, the lore I got from talking to the old lady was interesting though
am I gonna watch the whole thing after this? am I that bored today? ... maybe
Commenting before I finish, hope you didn't miss helping at the water pump place. Couple quests to do there for xp
nevermind...so much for 10 intelligence..
mans forgot about frag mines and corners if you know you know
😔
@@PretzelYT its ok still was very entertaining
please explain
Love this kind of thing, such a cool concept for a video.
At risk of sounding like a broken record…how are you so undersubbed wth?
Algorithm sort this man out some more exposure hot damn
Im in the process of watching this video and im loving it ahah! Just one question, what's the music at 16:00? Can't put my finger on it...
Find Your Way from Final Fantasy 8 🙌
@@PretzelYT Thank you! I've never played the game, wondering where I heard it then...
Anyway, the video was so much fun, and so is your channel. Looking forward more stuff like this!
The crater was caused by the plane crash IIRC
Absolute Madlad
Never played the game yeah but I rly like videos of that format idk what I'm doing with my life but it's kinda good I guess. The vid was rly funny for just being in a place I never saw or heard of. Thx :))
Ps: just realized ur name is Pretzel. And I'm German. And WEEEEE like Brezeln how they are called here idk I rly should sleep.
good video, subscribed!
if you glitch / clip up and talk to Stockholm, he will infact comment on how it should have been impossible for you to reach him
This was certainly a video
High praise. I'll take it.
Anyone else hear oblivion music in the background? Love the content btw
4:33 is there something wrong here? named after a city, so what?
10 hours on the new Vegas strip!!
Huh, that could be interesting... There's a LOT to see within that condensed area.
Damn 😀 all those items in the end
Rivet City next?
you should spend 1-10 hours in the vault
Oh god, that would be even more mind-numbing.
...
Not a half bad idea tho.
I’m surprised you don’t have any New Vegas videos
Thank you for entertaining me with your boredom.
"I've never done that quest line and I never will" +1
Don't get me wrong, I know it's just a video game etc, and even then would only be for completion at this point; but I can't ever bring myself to do it 😂
But... Photons don't have mass?
I went insane staying inside the BOS HQ for 14 hours Straight
Eventually I gained My sanity back slowly by working
Wadsworth
Codsworth
hmmmm
Hey Pretzel, is that The Rain Formerly Known As Purple playing at around 40 minutes? Do you enjoy Risk Of Rain? Cheers
I do! Haven't played it as much since the first DLC came out, but I really wanna do a tour on it sometime soon.
Did you even do any of the main quest missions while there? Lol
Now the same with Rivet City please.
do 50 hours in girdershade
Punch more robots and protectrons punch them in the morning and the blue one stomp on the left side of stomach
20:06 😂😂😂
A fun idea
I love ruining the Capital Wasteland. The ending slides for ghoul tenpenny and nuked Megaton are truly bleak, plus F.E.V. the bay. New Vegas let's you choose a bad guy ruler or subjugate/slaughter everyone, but it doesn't let you genocide all irradiated life and that's what true evil playthroughs ought to aspire to.
Dude if you reading hope you Will just earn a new subs i know it means nothing but if you do reading please do more like this i know the exploring game maps cool and all but please do more of this fallout New Vegas mabye or fallout 4 if not try skyrim ill be glad to watch it first
Bro, this is your *least* popular video (at the time of this comment)? I can't believe you don't have more subs.
I'll say, I wouldn't mind more videos like this but 10 hours is too much of someone's time even if they work as a full time content creator, maybe 3 or 4 hours would be enough.
That's kinda why i haven't done another one of these in a while. Ever since I got my video production schedule down to one a week, I don't have time for this series anymore.
If I ever do return though, I think I'll stick to 10 hours. 3, 4, or even 5 feel like too short a time to TRULY get familiar with an area. I like how 10 hours is kind of a long time, but not a whole lot. Like there's still more I could have done in Megaton if I had a couple more hours. 10 is just a nice round number that both fits the project scope and is also good for the title.
You deserve more subs dude, consider me one of them
!
You fell off
