I had a custom fitting yesterday at a Mizuno Performance Centre and gave a good ol' whack at the MP-18 blades, MP-18 SC, JPX900 Tour and JPX900 Forged. At the end I ended up going for the MP-18 SC.
In comparison to the JPX900 Forged (which for me was the runner up), for me the MP-18 SC launched a bit lower (the ball flight was beautiful, very versatile with windy conditions, I found), spinned just short of 1000 revs higher and and was 3-4 meters shorter (with 1 or 2 degrees weaker loft). In feel, however, there was next to no difference. They both felt just FANTASTIC on the good strikes, and were extremely responsive on the bad ones, they gave great feedback.
I wasn't sure I was going to end up buying them, but after hitting them all doubts flew away. Just gorgeous. And Mizuno has great custom fit options with regards to lie angle, huge range of different shafts with different feels, weights and lenghts, and all sorts of different grips. And a competitive price in comparison with all the other big manufacturers.
Can't wait for them to be delivered and take them on the golf course.

Great review Andy-swing changes look good and you really striped the first 3 shots, impressive distance and spin. Mizuno irons always impressive , pricey, and I have never been lucky enough to pick up a good used set. I have been watching but not commenting much as my 10 inch tablet went walkabout and these old eyes struggle when typing onto a samsung phone keyboard. We went from floods to major fires and really dealing with thick smoke here in interior of B.C. Finally cleared today for the first time in 6 weeks or so.Always fun, cheers.

Looks like I am going to have to try these. Winter has killed my swing and I need to practice my swing more before getting fitted. My golf league starts the first Wednesday in April.
Back in the saddle, nice to see Andy 👍. I've never tried Mizuno before but the next time I'm in the market for some new irons they'll be a manufacturer that'll I'll certainly be looking at. They look good enough to hit 😂

Nice reviews Andy.👍🏽 Bought Iblades last year. And really like them but miss the forged feeling (owned Mizuno's before) . But despite that had no intention buying new irons again ....but after the reviews about the MP 18sc I went to my shop and hit the 6 iron on trackman and after that took it out to the course. Used the same shaft in both 6 irons ( Nippon Modus Pro 105 in stiff) and it seems that the MP 18sc carries (a little bit) further, for me gives a bit lower ballflight and keep its line (a little bit) better (through the wind). Shots were closer to target. Advantage of non forged irons is that the Iblades don't damage easily while carrying the golfbag. Good spin numbers on both irons. But really like the forged feeling and feedback of the MP18's . So the jury is still out if the MP18sc will replace the Iblades. If so the "feeling" and somewhat lower ballflight will be the main reason I suppose.
All comments make sense, I found the MP18 'blade' to have superb feel and also surprisingly forgiving.

Great review. Those SC's are very clean looking. Ball striking, peak height and spin looked extremely good. Waiting for you to review the Titleist 718 MB's and CB's. I'm a bit of a Titleist guy myself 😎
Yeah I was striking the ball quite well for a Monday morning, the Titliest are due very soon possibly this week, unfortunately I am not on the pre release list with them.....yet!
I have Jpx 825 irons right now. I really like the look of those. Might have to give them a hit to see if they make it on my Christmas list!

Is there any reason why you don't give an indication of the price of the clubs you review? I am sure it would prove useful to the audience. As usual an excellent no nonsense review.
Wayne Harris in most cases I am not sure of it as they are pre release, that said I did mention it on the review of the MMC's which is £899 rrp, for me it's performance cos affordability will be always down to the individual
just got a set play at a 10 hcp and struggling so far but like a players mizuno the feeling is amazing when you hit it. but the 6 and 5 iron is where it all cam go wrong fast. but like you said #nflam eyeballing a set of srixon 765 if these don't work out

kev Barclay look for a used set I got MP 32 irons for £50 3 PW American golf used brilliant and u can get them bent as forged 👍👍
How would you say they compare to the MP25?
I would say very similar Annette but maybe slightly more forgiving, I ve not hit the MP25 for a while so its hard to give a precise answer. I would always suggest your opinion is more valuable than mine.
