2nd Chemo & New Lifespan Estimates!

- First 2 weeks of chemo are done, just started the 2nd course today!
Spent 6 hours getting the pre-meds (for anti-nausea, etc.) in the clinic, then got my fanny pack full of "chemo juice", which will drain over the next 2 days, and be removed the day after that.
TL;DR: The past 2 weeks (on chemo) I've felt the best I've felt in a year! All symptoms better. Chemo side effects supposed to get worse each course, but so far they're almost non-existant (which is nice!). My energy levels are the highest today in months. More active, sleeping better, less pain, "nicer" bathroom trips lol.

- The Fixable Back Course: www.Fixable.me This is the exact approach I use with my patients, to get them out of pain, and keep their pain from coming back. If you have low back pain and it's not going away, this approach beats the pants off everything else I've seen!
- CBD gummies for sleep! I use the brand Hometown Hero (made right here in Austin!), and take the Peak Delta-8 Gummies: hometownhero.sjv.io/y25vBy NOTE: These are 100 mg per gummy - I split each gummy into 4 pieces (25 mg each), and only take 25 mg about an hour before bed. For me, they make me extremely relaxed, and feel like I’ve had about 3 glasses of wine. I wouldn’t take more than 25 mg at first, for sure. But they help me fall asleep faster, and stay asleep better than anything I’ve used so far!

The prognosis was pretty accurate when watching the latest video, the date of this video is about three years ago😏😢
brutally sad.
Watching this after Dr. Dan's latest video, heartbroken.
retired hospice worker here. THIS Is why I tell everyone : NEVER do ANY chemo, radiation, immunotherapy. ANYTHING they offer to you unless its a scan, refuse. It all KILLS YOU. The fact he is a chiropractor is SHOCKING that he was unaware of all of this and bought in to all the crap.
@@hs4265what do you do in hospice?
@@hs4265would you say the same to cancer survivors who underwent chemo? The idea that chemo kills people is like saying everyone’s body reacts the exact same way to whatever is put into it.
@@hs4265 Horribly irresponsible statements. While I can appreciate how your former professional life may have colored your views, saying that nobody should consider use of any chemotherapy, immunotherapy or radiation therapy is massively irresponsible. And flat out wrong. A large number of patients are cured by these standard approaches - I suppose they would also say they would prefer to “meet” you here on FB, as opposed to meeting you as part of their hospice care team.
Man I'm sorry to hear this. You seem so incredibly healthy...its hard to believe that they gave you a prognosis like that. You,re in my prayers doc!!
Sending love and prayers from the UK x
You are an incredibly strong man, both physically and mentally. I am praying for you.
Congratulations! You made the 30%

I REALLY appreciate the honesty of your oncologist and your courage in asking the hard questions.
You are so bright, cheery, optimistic, considering the diagnosis. It's fantastic to see, and I find your videos about your progress very interesting and informative.
Thanks! Honestly, I'm trying to just treat this like one of many challenges we all have in life. Granted, this is a bit of a bigger challenge than I've had before, but hitting it head-on seems like the right thing. Thank you for the encouragement, and I'm glad this stuff is interesting! :)
Doc I think you are gonna beat it! I have no doubt. You are a warrior!
@@DrDanSays I am impressed at the questions you asked your oncologist! What to say? I am so sorry to hear the prognosis. It is a nightmare situation. As one commented, it is helpful to others who are facing what you are.

Hi Dan, i am living in Belgium and following you since a few weeks now. My auto corrector is enerving, correcting every word wrongly (i am Dutch native speaker). I want to react dow, because i think you are such a brave, selfless person. I have breast cancer myself, but doing good for the moment. I want to tell you that you’re Messages are indeed important for those, young, otherwise Healthy people who are going through this. I was diagnosed in oktober 2019 and saw on the internet a lot of people (beautiful, as well inside as outside, eating well, no drinking, no smoking, no drugs, running or doing other sports, men, women, lovely people i surely would have liked to have known better). They all have one thing in commun: they all got cancer, and are now no longer with us. I don’t get it. They were all good hearted people but all Died young, In their fourties or fifties. I never was able to send them a Message, because discovered their existings afterwards. The purpose of your vlogs is to tell people they are not alone living this cancer journey. My purpose is to let you know you are not alone neither : cancer just overcame us. You are 52, I was 55, many were in their 30ies, 40ies, 50ies. I hope you Will get through this. But it is true that in our case we must, while hoping for the best, preparing for the worst. In life, one must be greatful for all the good and accepting all the bad. There is no other issue. I Will continue following you. You are not alone Dan! Sending you a big hug. Griet
Griet -- thank you so much for taking the time to share your story! I'm glad to hear you're doing well at the moment, and wish you a long, happy, healthy life going forward! And I'm glad you appreciate my little updates. Yes, cancer is a shock when you get the diagnosis, but it's really just another challenge (unexpected!) that we get to deal with! I'm wishing you a speedy recovery, and thank you again for reaching out!
Best wishes for healing❤
Good luck Dan
Praying for you❤🙏🏾
Had my 24th lot of chemo today feeling rough. Currently attached to a bottle of Flouracil 5fu for 42 hours. Wishing you all the luck in the world.

I have a feeling you will be here in three years and more. Not just because you are positive - that's overrated - but because you are fit, healthy and in great shape.
Praying for you. Thank you for sharing your journey.
Thank you for your prayers, Lynda! :)
You are in great shape Doc

Since I discovered your channel some time ago I think about you often. A beloved friend of mine is going through chemo for pancreatic cancer and also has chemo every 2 weeks for 3 days. The chemical he gets is called Folfirinox. His side effects are okay by now, but he just got 3 rounds out of 12.
I am wishing you all the best in the world and all the strength and support you need for going through this. ❤ I will follow your journey from now on and hope the same that I hope for my friend: That you’ll make a complete recovery and that the rest of the time you’re here with us will be cancerfree and full of love, excitement and living life to the fullest ❤
Praying for you sweetie 😊 I had stage 2 colon cancer 2yrs ago; I'm hoping to continue in remission, it's rough, I pray for a miracle for you

Still here rooting for you!!! I can't believe you're still taking patients! You must indeed be feeling better than the last year. Honestly Dr. If I were you , I’d look at the marijuana pill out of Toronto Canada. A friend here in Alberta given 6 months last November and offered no treatment , took this and is alive and Dr.s amazed ! The nodule in lungs gone Dr.s said keep doing what you are doing.
Hi Dr. I was just wondering what symptoms you were having before diagnosis. I’ve been having an abrupt change in digestion and sleep patterns and I’m not sure what happened. I’m hoping you will beat the heck out of this disease, but I must admit, when you said 3 year survival rate is 30% my jaw dropped. Your cancer is going to go into full remission right? You are young and healthy. You look better than everyone I know. I’m sorry but that can’t be right.
I’m so glad you’re doing so well ❤❤️ ♥️ 💜🫶 cheers 🍻 🇺🇸
I got antibiotics through those little balls. Made the difference between having to stay in the hospital for 2 months or getting to go home. ❤️
Hang in there Dan. You almost making the 30% for three year survival rate:)
Hang in there Dan. We are rooting for you and praying for you.
Also you never know. My sister was given bad news but they attacked it aggressively and she lived another 30 years. Covid was actually the culprit that took her in the end.
Immunotherapy? is that an options for you? i hear it can do wonder? ipilimumab and nivolumab
I'm sure you have covered this but how long did you have symptoms before you decided to get checked?
About 1.5 year prior, though they started very mild. You'll see me explain further in my reply to Svetka2100 below. Excellent question.
Youre doing great still being able to exercise even though youre having chemo! If i did a squat id never get up again 😂 chemo or not lolol.
Have you heard about Chris Wark? He was stage 3 colon cancer, surgery, but refused chemo (I believe). Has a book Chris Beat Cancer.
God bless through this journey.
I just want to say keep God close and things will work I am going through pancreatic cancer had breast cancer 9 years ago and I know God is good and he will restore what is lost in you stay positive stay strong and stay in God. God bless

I’m also going through cancer treatments that take 5 hours, mine starts with steroids and Benadryl before the main treatment. Every blood test is nerve racking, but I’ve learned to not let it consume me and enjoy my daily life. I highly recommend laughing hard everyday I watch Drybar comedians on RUclips, anything that will make me laugh out loud! Wishing you all the best Dr Dan!
Do you still workout during treatment
Yes, but much more lightly. Partly due to my port-a-cath in my chest, and not wanting to pull it out with, say, volleyball.
I DID, however, just resume running last week for the first time in over a year, and it feels great! Just doing easy walk/jogs on my usual walks :)
Take lots of vitamin C & D 😊
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
🙏
Did you find out about mutations?
Great question, Elana -- and no, not yet -- still waiting on results for that test. I'll definitely post about that once we have results back. The results could open a new door for us treatment-wise, or close one. Fingers crossed! :)
It's always puzzled me that if the chemo can shrink the tumors to very tiny ones, then still the prognosis is as gloomy as 30% for 3 years. I mean, what's killing the patient if the tumors shrink to non-existent?
I think they grow back after a while, when they become immune to chemo.
@@PatrickSilent yeah, and then you switch to different chemo and hope it works better. Damn cancer sucks. I have breast cancer myself. Of all things. I'm a dude.
@@Vestu I'm sorry. Hang in there!
@@PatrickSilentThanks man. In it to win it. If my CT scan shows no metastasis, I'm set for victory.
It's because the cancer typically spreads elsewhere throughout the body and often the brain and lungs and eventually causes insurmountable problems:(

and go to Church pray for healing
Also do good research on your own for similar cases

I thought it feels better if you know you are not the only one wearing a mask. I am vaccinated but I am still wearing a mask to protect my toddler as vaccinated people can still pass the virus along. With the delta variant, the kids are at more risk now, and of course not vaccinated yet. So, I am with you in that mask wearing.
Amin, good point! I always wear a mask when I'm with patients, even when they're vaccinated, if it makes them more comfortable. If every's vaxxed, I'll offer to let patients remove theirs if they like. Now it looks like I'll be wearing one all the time (for the time being), regardless.

Is all of this really worth it?
As opposed to what?
With stage 4 cancer you got two options.
1) You fight which also means accepting some pain from the treatments but you got a small chance to survive.
2) You don't fight. Which means that at first you have a little bit less pain than with treatments, but you got no chance to survive.
@@hmgrraarrpffrzz9763 I was diagnosed with cancer almost 5 years ago. I opted to do nothing. When my doctor and another physician determine I have 6 or less months to live, I will legally obtain a fatal combination of various meds, drink it and expire. I had absolutely NO intention of going through what Dr. Dan has experienced or people I have known who suffered far too much from all the treatments. Not for me.

Crazy seeing this video and how healthy you looked, part of me thinks they do more damage with horrible drugs. To see the decline looks as if you are poisoned from the drugs they used on you, sadly they have no clue on how to treat cancer.
dam now he is dead
Don't be fooled by his condition in this video. That's poison being pumped into his body and it's cumulative. Been the this twice now in 5 years. Had to stop early because it raises your creatine level and that will not go back down. That has to be watched closely. I had Folfox infusion, wearing the pack and was told this is bad and switched to IV's. Can't remember all that went on during those times because everything becomes blurry. I did survive and I'm 13 years out now. Believe me if you saw him months later he would be singing a different tune.
We saw him months later, nay, years later, and he has never sang a different tune. Try not pretending like you know everything next time because clearly, you really don't :). Different types of chemo do different things.
_"That's poison being pumped into his body and it's cumulative"_
Well, yeah. Chemotherapy attacks cells that quickly multiply, which is cancer cells. That's the whole point of it.
